Today i made the gear club one. Edit: For these projects i don't have machinery and i don't even buy Woodfor handle. I cut down a thin piece of wood in forest, and all i have to work on it is a machete, rasp and sandpaper.
Cool build man. Do you have a display wall you hang all your projects on. That would be a cool background for your workshop. Also one suggestion for a tool is to get some pipe cutters. It would save a lot of time and produce a clean cut. I also use them to cut and or score wooden dowels so my file work is cleaner.
Did you mix the black acrylic paint with anything else? The next step after it looked liked you washed on a white liquid from a square bottle, can you share what that white liquid was? I really like how it lightened up the mid color areas but left the handle grooves still black. I'm making one of these right now but a little different since I have different materials.
@@john_free_thinker That vintage look is cool. What about the white liquid? Was that a sealant? Also the grips, did you go very deep? Thanks again, I'm about halfway done.
Do you sale this?? I wanna get one!! And one more thing please, I serve in army so I want well fit, wedged and reliable one. Club of this video is quite well though. Can I ask for screw fix??
I do not sell them, however, this club is some what easy to build yourself. You should be able to just make it with no real problems. If you have any questions, please let me know. Thank you.
You obviously know very little about the correct use of tools - you used a hacksaw designed to cut metal for cutting the wooden shaft, you use a metal file for filing wood. I am pretty sure you are not trained.
wicked & cool... a final step for my WW1 Alpine/Italian Front collection.
Imagine some landser or scarpa making one of these in a quiet rage!
That sounds really cool, I am glade you like my work.
Excited about this one! Great video as always!🤘🏽
Thank you, it really was a lot of work.
John Free Thinker... the master weapon builder...Amazing...
I wouldn't call myself a master, But thank you 😁👍
That was cool mate nice looking club
Thank you, that means a lot coming from you 😀
I’m going to have to make one of these. Thanks for the video. Very well done and your finished product is bad ass.
Thank you very much. I am glade you like my work.
Smart thinking with the insert. I've seen people use twine and then apoxy to stick it. I like your idea.
Thank you very much, yeah a lot of thinking went into this one.

Ok, that can still work. But smoother hard wood poles I think are best for that type of weapon.
@@john_free_thinker I understand, but there are no wood poles for sale in my city, so i gotta chopp.
@@dmitriblyat8237 Alright, in that case try to make a natural look club out of a more harder wood branch. Work with what you have and be creative.

Thank you very much for the comment and the idea. As of now what I have works, but I will look into that. 👍
Nice and simple, you make things look real easy man. Enjoyed your channel. Cheers.
Thank you very much, it is a little more harder than what it looks 😎
Great job, wedge idea is good, rivets & paint nice touch, authentic👍👍
Thanks, I did my best to make it look good and work like it should.
Awesome job bro!
Thank you, glade you like my club 👍
@@john_free_thinker Welcome, bro, I have a new video up!
@@slingshotwarrrior8105 Nice, I will have to check it out.
Make pipe 2" longer...epoxy in the rivets.....
I wanted to keep it short and simple. the rivets are in pretty tightly.
What are the pins you used to secure the baton head to the dowel? Are they round head screws?
round head rivets.
What are those tack like things called your pounding in the metal?
They are round head steel rivets.
@@john_free_thinker okay thanks for info!
@@husafel Your welcome 👍

I use watered down black paint to wash it, giving it a vintage look.
@@john_free_thinker That vintage look is cool. What about the white liquid? Was that a sealant? Also the grips, did you go very deep? Thanks again, I'm about halfway done.
@@asimpson164 It was clear coat, and the grip groves are not that deep. Just deep that it is a good grip.
What kind of pipe is that for the business end?
I do not know, I found it at a yard sale a while back.
@@john_free_thinker thank you. You think it's cast iron or steel?
@@pcurryii It is steel. Maybe look up online key words to find it, like heavy pipe or thick pipe or metal pipe or tube... something like that.
Real quick, I found what it is called. It is called a, "Dom Tube" but they can be a little costly. I got my really cheap at a yard sale.
You could run beeswax over that rope to smooth it out, protect it and give it some color
Thank you for the idea. I will have to keep that in mind.
Just the thing for making Fruit salad and Breaking ice for Beverages.. I need one!
Yeah, you could make one. It is not that hard.
What is the black"paint" you used to treat the wooden handle?
black paint mix with water
Definitely going to make this one day and bring it to an airsoft field as part of a WW1 kit
I love playing airsoft. Yeah it would look cool as a kit, but only for display.
@@john_free_thinker yeah, but it’d be funny to club a cheater
@@medic6994 Damn, yeah those cheaters will get to you.
How wide of a tube do I need?
Also what is that white stuff?
It should all fit together easily, it should all line up.
Thank You!!!
anytime
Love the beard
Thank you.
Cool trench bat
Thank you

@@john_free_thinker alright bro, afraid I'm not handy guy like you but I will try it!
@@206fa5 It's not to hard to build and if you need help you can always message me.
Brother, you're a smith. You have great craftsmanship!
Thank you very much 😁👍
Looks fantastic but you ruined it with that string/rope. Add a leather strap to it!
Thank you, I can always change it, but I wanted a more historical look to it. Cotton cord was easier to have back then than leather strips.
@@john_free_thinker Interesting but if information. Thanks for sharing.
@@aubrey-g9d Any time, thanks for watching 👍
Hey John love your builds looks great and holds up very nicely
Thank you
Rivets and wood glue? I guess, if thought is free, you got what you paid for. But hey, you're on your way to a decent pina colada!
Thanks, wood glue still work. But I know epoxy works a lot better but is also more work to set up.
If wood glue is good enough for axes, it's good enough for a club
@@justdead101 Well, if it is wedged in there tightly then it should be fine. As long as the connection is secured then it will work fine.
