I know that you have been discouraged about your channel lately. Just wanted to let you know that this is the first time you're video has been suggested to me by the algorithm in a long time. Also I appreciate all that you do
This was great. Matt, if you see this and are having problems with the TH-cam algorithm and getting visibility, I know sometimes it doesn't like different types of content that might have different audiences. Like if people subscribe for the church tours but don't watch the bible studies, it can lower how your videos are ranked. It doesn't understand you have two types of content so when half your subscribers skip a video, it thinks your videos have inconsistent quality instead of being good but different. If you have separate channels for each audience, it can improve your metrics and give each channel better visibility on similar videos by others.
As a catholic I often experienced protestants looking down on me and even treating me as if I'm not a Christian. Your chanel is amongst the few protestant channels that I'm following and I like to watch because I feel like that you are respecting me and all the Christians. Thank you.
Protestants are wanna be Christians who think the holy spirit talks to them when its probably a devil leading them away from the true church of Jesus Christ. Also, they have issue with self-interpretation of the bible which leads them to believe God is telling something that God is not again probably the devil. That's why the Eunuch went to Phillip and asked him to explain the scripture, the Catholic church does that so that we don't fall for the devils tricks and mislead them away from the truth and traditions established by Christ. God Bless keep the Faith.
As a protestant, I’ve grown up seeing this rhetoric as well and it has always bothered me since I was young. It is a beautiful thing that the Holy Spirit can be present and active in so many different traditions of us. How can the hand accuse the foot of being a bad hand? Or the lung accusing the oesophagus of not holding air? It’s foolish and very sad

As someone who loves the Carmelite order, I'm so pleased that you visited a Carmelite community. I had the grace to attend Mass at a cloistered Carmelite community (in their oratory) I have a great devotion to St. Therese, and can attest several prayers answered through the intercession of the Little Flower (who I see as my Heavenly sister) praised be God in his Saints now and forever. Thank you for taking the time to just sit down and understand different aspects of Catholicism, this is how we heal division in the body of Christ, that can only happen when take the time to understand the other sides without jumping to assumptions or strawman perspectives. God bless you, may the Carmelites pray for you ;)
Indeed! I suggested someone watch the discussion with the Adventist when the discussion mentioned that branch in reference to a prominent individual as a member.
I've learned a lot about the other walks of Christian faith from these. (I grew up in a basically holiness/Pentacostal church tradition). These videos are a favorite part of my time in the Internet.
I Love your videos. They keep me grounded and helped me in my spiritual journey and in grace with God when I was a Protestant. Now I’m back to the Catholic Church (revert) so I tend to follow other channels now. But I want to encourage you to keep doing what you’re doing , you are literally changing peoples lives. Did anyone else feel a moment of quiet settling in when the music was turned down? It was just a split second of silence that I felt in my chest. So beautiful. As always, thank you Matt for all you do.
I really appreciated the stillness and humility of Fr. Artur. It helped inspire me to desire silence and treasure the presence of God, not in the earthquake nor in the fire, but in a gentle whisper.
It's been a while since I got a suggested video from your channel! To be honest as an Eastern Catholic I deeply admire what you do, your respect and openness are a rarity these days. Thank you Matt
I was just baptized and confirmed this past Easter; as a child, when I saw St. John Paul II in the newspaper or tv, I always instinctively knew he was a holy man. There was no pro or anti Catholic sentiment in my home. When I was discerning the Catholic Church, I was so happy to hear about others feel about JP2!
I really enjoy these videos, Pastor Matt. As a Catholic, I’ve really enjoyed your willingness to seek out understanding and knowledge from others and see where we agree and differ. May our Lord Jesus Christ bless you!
The second the priest pressed play on the i Phone, I had tears in my eyes. Gregorian chants give me a physical reaction that I cannot describe. Just gorgeous.
You can see, hear and feel in the whole behaviour and the way Fr. Artur is talking the fruits of devout spiritual Life. It was a very intelligent, alert, compassionate, kind and gentle Way to explain the Carmelite Order. I think i could have listened for hours to his explanations. Enjoyed this very much! Thank you
@WC3isBetterThanReforged , father Artur is from Poland :) They have got there in the church photo of John Paul II and painting of our Lord made on request of sister Faustyna Kowalska :)
Hey Matt, you've got great content and this was one of your best. I'm a Catholic convert and I know my faith very well. However, you will sometimes ask questions that make me say, "I didn't know that". Your retention of what you are exploring is really impressive. I loved that little glint in the priests eye when you asked Father about St. Theresa and St. John of the Cross.
I think they are doing a big thing for the world. Continuous prayer. On others behalves. That is so deep. And comforting. Very humble man for God. Very nice talk and love for the Lord seen from both of you. Nice to see there are others living for the Lord and following him in different ways. We dont all have to be the same. ❤ Prayer is big. I pray we as Christians turn back to more silent, quiet time with our Lord. I have experienced this this year as I start each day with a scripture reading and silent time in His presence. Just me and Him. It is amazing. Very thankful for it. When you are quiet you can hear Him. And I agree, "God hears every prayer. No prayer is ever in vain." AND prayer is the great gift God gave us to be a part of his work in changing things, because prayer does change things! Love your unity series, been a follower for years now.
The Lord has led me to start a bible study. I’ve been asking the Lord to lead me in what He wanted me to talk about this week. I knew right alway as I listened . It’s union with God through silence starting with the story of Elijah. Thank you all so much and Father God for leading me to watch this video. So beautiful and fulfilling. Sending prayers of love and praise.🙏🙏🙏
I spent one week as a guest at Our Lady Of Clear Creek abbey which is a Benedictine Monastery in Hulbert, Oklahoma. This experience changed my life entirely, sharing time, traditions, prayer and work with 67 benedictine monks. I'm planning to spend a vacation in Europe staying at different monasteries, I did not know that almost all are open to the public except we need to make a reservation with 2 or more months in advance
I’m Catholic and love all about my beautiful church, I watch this video by accident , and I love it,living in Central Florida will be no to hard to visit the Monastery I love monasteries the peace is so beautiful, you can’t find it anywhere else.
I think videos like this are sooooo valuable because of the generosity it reminds us to have with others we might disagree with. We have forgotten that you can both disagree AND be gracious with others. You also can listen and learn and change and be changed! This is, I believe, a glimpse of what it means of Gods kingdom come here on earth. I highly doubt we will ever have a church that agrees on everything, but I think there is something that is more important: learning how to love and love well in the difference.
Finally one of your newer podcasts has come up. Usually I only see a few on occasion and they're all older. I get so much out of your postings, thank you!
Matt, I can’t fathom being able to have these conversations with the same amount of grace that you show. We admire you so much and endeavor to match your tone in religious discussions. I want you to know you’re appreciated and important. Tremendously important. We would miss you so much if you were not accessible to us.
My brother, don't be discouraged. Your channel is important because you take us to places, both spiritually and physically that help us see the unity of the body of Christ. I so appreciate what you're doing. Please, don't stop.
Another great video. Those gregorian chants are beautiful. And it's crazy to think that some lost teenagers resort to chemicals, instead of prayers and chants.
Hey Matt, your videos have been a great help to me. I was introduced to Christ and converted in a very low church, mega church environment and wandered through the YRR movement with the oldest saint I read being C.S. Lewis up until my early 20's. Conversations with other Christians & Atheists drove me a little deeper into church history and into the traditions out there. But really the last 5-6 years have been a deep dive into the rich wealth of traditions and Christian history. I remain protestant, but one which richly sees himself connected to the stream of faithful Christian efforts going back to the first century. These conversations were a huge role in opening me up to these ideas. Thankful more protestants are retaining their core but deeply engaging with the history and traditions of others.
What a lovely conversation and meeting of minds and souls. I chose to enter the Franciscan Order as a secular woman, as I am called to be a more active in the world to reflect a bit of God's love to those who are in need of a physical or psychological touch of the Gospel in their daily lives. I wear a scapular as a reminder that Mary will always lead me to her Son, as she said "Do whatever He tells you."
I am so glad to see these videos. It's a wonderful thing to be reminded of the fact that we have so many brothers and sisters in Christ that pursue that relationship in so many ways. This one is a reminder (and conviction, frankly) to spend more time in silence in prayer and meditation upon God's word. It's way too easy to get so busy in life -even good things, church things, mission things - that we forget to dedicate time with God.
37:11 the discussion starting here that goes into the unity of the church was tearfully beautiful for me. One point to rejoice for us we will one day experience that, even if we have to wait until Christ's return. If you read this, Matt (and Fr. Artur*) thank you so much for these videos as continuing reminders of this very thing. (The Genesis video is amazing, by the way) *edited to make sure I had his name correct.
Years ago I attended a Retreat at a Trappist Monastery in Massachusetts. Definitely a place of prayer and work, they made jams to support their Monastery. An unforgettable experience. Especially joining the monks prayers the Hours.
I found this an excellent video. The Church has two wings; the apostolic and the monastic. The apostolic are the disciples of living in the world where they bring Christ to people. The monastic are the people of prayer. Their prayer and silence rises as incense to the Lord. They pray and the Lord gives the graces to the apostolic to go and preach the Good News. Every parish has both: those who pray and those who are constantly serving in the practical things that need doing. They, if you like, are the two wings of the Holy Spirit, the Dove who settles on us all.
Matt, you would be totally mesmerized by the Carthusian Order. There is a fantastic documentary on youtube called "The House at the end of the World, The Carthusian Cloistered Monastery " in 3 parts. Thank you for this video. You had fantastic questions. Thank you for not shying away from seemingly simple questions.
Matt, thank you for your videos. Your visit to an Orthodox church was my first introduction to Orthodoxy and just earlier this year I was baptized Orthodox. The best decision I've ever made. I now have a spiritual life more fulfilling that I could ever imagine. I'm super grateful for your channel and the respectful manner in which you introduce us to other religions.
Thank you, Matt, for the video and talking a bit about mortification with Fr. Artur. It has widened and deepened my understanding of the importance of the body and soul.
This is such positive and very beautiful content worth watching. Thank-you Matt for taking us on your Christian journey and uniting us all along the way.

11:40 I think he should’ve also told Matt the Christian life is not solely focused only on direct evangelization. Through the prayers and sacrifices these monastics or anybody can help fill up that which is lacking in Christ’s afflictions. Colossians 1:24
I think that came through well as the interview went on....I loved how he framed fighting evil with prayer, and prayer's ability to change the interior. Evangelical here, BTW
@@krist-yonnarain7786 Depends on the "Evangelical" church. A Keith Foskey "Big Eva", of which there are many, sadly, you are correct. One way to understand the charism of the Carmelites is to consider who the Catholic Church has chosen to be the two co-patron saints of the missions and of missionaries. The first pick is an obvious one, the Jesuit St Francis Xavier who travelled three-quarters of the way around the world from Europe, in sailing ships, to evangelise India, Japan and China. The other one though is little St Thérèse who spent her entire religious life in the Carmelite convent of Lisieux and died while still a young woman. So how did she get the gig? Well, because her vocation was to pray for the Church and the world she specialised in praying for the missions and in particular for mission priests. Before her death she said "I wish to spend my heaven in doing good upon the earth" so her vocation to prayer has continued in the blessed company of angels and saints. So, the fruits of the Carmelite charism have been harvested in places where no Carmelite has ever set foot.

God bless you, may the Carmelites pray for you ;)
Oh man I’ve been looking forward for another Church Unity video. These are my favorite videos on TH-cam
What a beautiful and edifying conversation. Thanks to both of you for your grace and good will.
Gods working is in this, I just wish that some Protestants will see Gods work in the Catholic Church.
So interesting. What a gentle soul. Thanks Matt for a great video.
Know it’s been a rough go on the channel for a while. Just wanted to let you know your channel & podcast mean a lot to me and have helped deepen and expand my faith tremendously. Whenever or however it ends up, I’ll be with you ❤
Same, I haven't seen too many in a long time
Did anyone else feel a moment of quiet settling in when the music was turned down? It was just a split second of silence that I felt in my chest. So beautiful. As always, thank you Matt for all you do.
Sounded like the Greek hymn Agni Parthene. Or maybe it was.
Love this video: the mutual respect and civility, genuine curiosity: so wholesome! God bless
What a beautiful interview! Thank you for being very respectful asking your questions. Father is such a gentle soul and explained everything so well.
God bless you Matt in your exploration of the different aspects of Christianity.
Yes, Learning such deep information about different Catholic Spiritualities is fantastic.
If you can head to a Parish that does it as part of the Mass. Your eyes will be filled with tears and your body will be frozen.
I am Catholic. Thank you for this beautiful video. And thank you for your open minded. Sorry for my English. I am watching from Quebec Canada.
Thank you
I loved this video. Almost knew nothing about Carmelites. Learnt a lot and it is working in me what I heard.
Agreed
Greetings to you, Matt, and to father Artur from Poland :) Thanks for this video
@@valwhelan3533 I haven't gotten to any mention of Poland yet in the video but the founder of the monastery was a Polish immigrant priest.
@WC3isBetterThanReforged , father Artur is from Poland :) They have got there in the church photo of John Paul II and painting of our Lord made on request of sister Faustyna Kowalska :)
@@jakubkosz1009 i just got to that part of the video.
You NEED to visit Saint Michaels Abbey in Southern California with the Norbertines!
Prayer is big. No prayer is ever in vain."
AND prayer is the great gift God gave us to be a part of his work in changing things, because prayer does change things!
Making myself food and relaxing to 47 mins of great video. Thank you Matt and Fr.Artur. God bless
Thankyou for being kind to the Catholic brothers 🙏🏽💙🙏🏻💙🙏🏾 im certain that Mary is pleased with this also.
As a Catholic, i loved this video.
I could listen to Fr Artur all day.
Thanks Matt.
🙏🙏
!!!! Thank you ! I converted to catholicism from nob-denominational. Thank you for this beautiful vid!
I too converted from a Baptist background.
Convert from Buddhism & other pagan spiritualist belief !
Welcome home and enjoy the silent time with Our Lord!
Welcom home ❤
I’m Catholic and love all about my beautiful church, I watch this video by accident , and I love it,living in Central Florida will be no to hard to visit the Monastery I love monasteries the peace is so beautiful, you can’t find it anywhere else.
Matt, you have more Carmelite knowledge than your everyday Catholic! Impressive!
Make sure to turn on your notification button to all posts!
Great channel love your exploration of Christianity. I pray we can one day all be one. God bless you Mat.
The scapular is a commitment. Anyone can put a gold band on their left finger, but it's marriage that gives it meaning.
Matt, I can’t fathom being able to have these conversations with the same amount of grace that you show. We admire you so much and endeavor to match your tone in religious discussions. I want you to know you’re appreciated and important. Tremendously important. We would miss you so much if you were not accessible to us.
Yes we need more silence to hear God. We are so distracted with modern technology and social media...we need meditation..great video.
Listen, I’m a Catholic traditional Catholic and I always look forward to your videos make more please
Thanks Matt. I appreciate your gentle and intelligent interview.
In the instant he played that chant l began to cry.I want it to hear it constantly.
Gregorian chant are on many TH-cam channels, check for it. It helps me a lot especially when I'm going to bed
(The Genesis video is amazing, by the way)
*edited to make sure I had his name correct.
Years ago I attended a Retreat at a Trappist Monastery in Massachusetts. Definitely a place of prayer and work, they made jams to support their Monastery. An unforgettable experience. Especially joining the monks prayers the Hours.
St Joseph’s in Spencer ?
@@briandelaney9710 that's the one!
Perfect post for today! Thank you so much for doing a bunch of hard work to find all these cool people and places to interview!
What a fantastic interview on so many levels. Thank you dearest Friars!
Please Never stop what you are doing. The only protestant i am finding not aggressive and giving a listening ear
What a great explanation and description! Very well said!
The Carthusian’s are a whole other level. Love that documentary you mentioned. GBU!
The Orthodox CHurch venerates Mary. Not to the degree that the Roman Catholic church, but we still hold her in high regard and venerate her.
That music at 45:00 is also sung in the Greek Orthodox church during liturgy.
I have been watching your channel for quite some time and I really do enjoy your content. You have helped lead me and my faith to where I am now and I just want to say thank you and God bless you on your journey.
11:40 I think he should’ve also told Matt the Christian life is not solely focused only on direct evangelization. Through the prayers and sacrifices these monastics or anybody can help fill up that which is lacking in Christ’s afflictions. Colossians 1:24
Yes and for an evangelical that would be hard to comprehend since the evangelical church heavily emphasizes proselytizing.
I've been blessed to see groups that took prayer, prayer meetings, and a more contemplative and meditative approach seriously. I've seen both ways in Calvary Chapels, for instance.
I love this series, Matt! Keep ‘em coming!
You're one of two protestant youtubers that I follow the rest are all the Catholic channels. I appreciate your openess to the entire Church tradition and history.
This is a great video Matt, thank you for everything you've done. Your videos have a very digestible nature, for people coming from all kinds of different traditions and beliefs. I feel like your love of Christ, his word, and the context around it really shines through in these videos. Praying for you, hope God shows you what he wants you to make content around :)
These videos help my understanding of Christ and Christianity so much! Thank you Matt!
Hey Matt, hope you're having a good Christmas season! Have watched your stuff for years now, and watching some of your videos back in 2020 really played a part in helping me find my place in Christianity, specifically Orthodoxy! I love all of your engagement with various churches and the work you do is amazing, but I'd like to make a few recommendations for cool churches for you to visit!
- Antiochian Western Rite Orthodox Church
- Syriac Orthodox
- Armenian Apostolic
- Russian Orthodox
- Assyrian Church of the East
I respect your honesty, Matt. You are unafraid to ask hard questions.
I haven't watched in a bit but I wanted to thankyou I qas an ex mormon atheist rhen a pagan.
And seeing your vidio visiting the orthodox church in utah wad what led me back to God and I was baptized Orthodox just over a year ago.
So thankyou so much for introducing it too me.
Nice 👍🏼 !
I absolutely love these conversations. Thank you so much for the time and effort you put into these.
I hope that TH-cam gets their algorithm in check so your content can reach more people. The world needs more bridge building.
Matt! The algorithm promoted this video and I am delighted. I love your videos and I love the Carmelites, so it's the perfect combination.
Matt your videos are very refreshing, my hope and pray is that Christians of all stripes can unite and love each other. The needless arguing online only serves to tear each other down.
