    Everything boils down to what we truly want in life and we need to appreciate others for choosing a way of life that suits them. Our mind creates a gratifying illusion of our memories from the past, so we need to keep realistic expectations of how our life is going to be after the move :) I saw a comment in which it was mentioned that relatives are not immortal. This cracked me up because, elderly people would have been gone, but siblings and cousins of our age will still be there in our old age. Moreover, isn't the fact that nobody is immortal the reason why we need to make the most of our time with them, rather than saying nobody is going to live forever? Coming to the part where kids future is important and being so selflessly striving for them, as the generations progress, the amount of responsibility kids take up towards their parents declines in the name of individuality. Our parents did more to their parents than what we are doing to our parents now and the same situation occurs in the future to us. If we sacrifice all of our simple pleasures, when we get older we will be left with a bag full of regrets. When we are not emotionally connected to family, we should not also expect our kids to move mountains for us in the future :) I know life in India is not easy, especially without good savings and security issues are a concern for everyone. If you can afford to live in a good community and be a little extra cautious then life in India will be more fulfilling than what you get abroad.

    As an Indian living in the US, this boils down to what you said at the start the sense of belonging. India is good if you have the social network and connections along with the financial support. If you don't have those then you tend to immigrate. This is seen throughout the history of humans. My family left India when our financial and family situation got worse. My dad still has a sense of belonging to India but he can't justify his belonging after being mistreated by his family in India. I think if the financial situation was better my dad would have never agreed to move to the USA. My perspective I never had a strong connection with family so I would have left India regardless. I do finally feel a sense of belonging in the USA now after few years of acclimation.

      That is another reality . I see many ppl taking the same . Especially in india family - middle class , over a period of time ppl especially relative try to talk nonsense esp for those who r making less and sad part is it’s starts from our immediate family members with lame comparison and that is why also many ppl think money and relationships goes hand in hand . If u have money ppl wil salute u in india otherwise no matter how good r u with family and friends u r nothing . That’s my opinion

      @@deepikasharma1704 I will agree with your statement that money plays a huge role in Indian status. I also believe your upbringing dictates a lot about the union of the family members. In India I think people don't necessarily understand what is morally right and wrong. For example, some people cheat others but they get away with it under the guise of this is the Indian way or this person is of high status,... Lastly, people in India devalue the essence of a neighbor or person or brother. There is a lack of empathy with most of the people or people with power. My family was on the receiving end of this reality in India. For 15 years before leaving India.

    • @nealrutgerskid
      @nealrutgerskid ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Here in the US.. empathy plays a huge role in society. People are taught to respect people. Everyone is treated with respect and equally. There are social pressures to maintain this decorum which is severely lacking in India.

    • @deepikasharma1704
      @deepikasharma1704 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@nealrutgerskid you are so true . Not many ppl think on the same lines. In today world also , I feel our parents and families are conditioned in such a manner that they feel what they have seen in their days is right or what they did right is good for evryone . They just want to impose . It’s happens in many Indian families . I so many times tell my parents and in-laws so that at least they get the reality check and do not act wierd . I see them also comparing 2 ppl life which is not good . That creates problems amongst sibling when they grown and start loving independently . Relationships get changed no matter how strong the blood is 😊. That’s the irony of life. Hope today generations parents change their mind and not do the same mistake which our parents or their parents have done acted like a dictator .

    What I would say is when you are young like 23 24 move outside and stay for like 15 to 20 years make some money then move back to India when U have enough savings to buy nice house car and stuff in India and just save enough to retire soon.. then start exploring and enjoying Ur life.. instead of working working working in India for 60 years then U don't have energy to explore or enjoy since half of energy U will lose in traffic and pollution.. this is my honest opinion to young people out there.. and this is what we are doing..we visit our family 2 times in a year since we live in Australia so they or we don't miss each other a lot🤗

      The last 10-12 years . If anyone thinks they get better their and they r going to. Be happy they should go back . But make sure they they should be financially sound as when. Hi, I have worked in USA and UK as software engineer and finally got my Australian PR and settled in Melbourne. If you are an extremely social person/couple who cannot live without family/friends in India, then go to India … there are high paying jobs now and you will live a good life. Me on the other hand love living abroad cause of freedom, cars that I drive, the houses we live in, fresh air and good infrastructure. But I guess I will move to India later on in life because of Amazing healthcare in India (yes, I mean it). And because of aging parents, we have to move to support them.

    Living in US for last 12 years I echo what you are saying. A bit correction - You mentioned schools are free in US. Its not the case always, if one buys a house in US he needs to pay $900 per month as School taxes. Moreover kids do not have luxury of going for swimming, martial arts, sports etc without shelling $250 per month for just 8 classes. I remember while in Kendriya Vidyalaya I used to go for region level debates, extempore, youth parliament, science exhibitions etc. But here its rare to find public schools with such facilities. Anyway God bless you for such video, bottom line is in your statement "Let's make India a better place than anywhere else" . Jai Hind

      @@arvindparthasarathy2862 I feel Indian cities are far better than Many parts of USA except New York, Washington.
      Reasons
      1) everything affordable in india
      2) good medical care
      3) salaries are pretty high in india than in America (comparing PPP)
      4) INDIA is changing to tech and Pharma industries due to IITs/IISER/IISC.
      5) peaceful life (no struggle of immigration process)
      6) Now a days Indian Universities are doing phenomenal in research. IISC bags no.2 rank in Citation ratio.

    Folks living in india is not as glorified as it is made to appear especially in metro cities . I live in Bsngalore . House help is becoming increasingly difficult resource. Because of dust and other living style we are extremely dependent on them. They frustrate you to no end beciz of lack of sincerity and commitment. As far as social life goes I feel people in USA have better social life than in Indian metro cities . Poor traffic laws , clogged roads and poor infrastructure restricts you severely. Neighbours hardly know each other or interact with each other. So , guys do your homework before you decide to come back. Don't put your kids into trouble . If they have citizenship you would definitely want them to go back for higher education when the whole india is flocking there . Your relatives here are not immortal. You will be left lonely in old age while your kids wd have gone back. Don't mess up your kids life . This I am speaking out of my siblings experience, who moved to USA 3 decades back . Some came back , some came and went back and one person is on her way back to UK becoz now her only child is going to UK for studies. Your social life in jndia and your relatives here are not permanent fixture but your kids are .

Just like your username, if you know "one" and live as no one, you will "be" there. That being said, Indians have it hard due to visa uncertainties in the US and missing family / events due to that is is not worth it. For ingraining cultural and family values in kids and for being with relatives and family, its worth it. We cannot compare two different lands, both have their +ves and -ves, In America enjoy the American freedom, In India enjoy the Indian culture. No matter where you go, your contentment is from inner peace not from external circumstances after a certain base line that human being needs to thrive.

However, India has changed a lot. I assume that old cities are the same india but main cities they are like here. People are westernized I feel and they are trying to be western. The point of view you are giving is for people like us , who were able to afford to come here. A average struggling indian will come here to make a better life.
    Another issue is that if you are in USA for a long time, relatives there don't connect with you that much and same with you, unless you try to be in each other lives.

      I agree with you that in metro cities the westernization started decades ago. Unless one is living under a rock one clearly see people moving and independent and nuclea4 families and western life style is here to stay. Of course despite this change we do have family values and connections. Individual situations vary but big city issues in India are more challenging than what you see abroad unless you are someone lucky to earn in big city and have a family home in small town. Cost of living is going up everywhere - the days of Rs 20 Chai are gone years ago and if you are an NRI who hasn't been to India I last ten years believe me big cities are more exp3nsive for domestic salary earners, so be prepared for a slightly lower pay, modest lifestyle and you need to have a home or big corpus of savings before you execute your Swadesh dream. There are challenges in western nations too, so d3cide that works for y9u after good research - dont fall for mere emotions rather have a plan and backup too - grass is always appearing green on other side.

      Corruption is everywhere. India is way behind due to reservation, Nepotism and Overpopulation. Due to Overpopulation businesses have millions of choices to choose employees for non or less skill jobs. Due to Nepotism we don't see politicians, actors and CEOs who can change the system and can give good service. And no need to tell anything about reservation. 49% people in india getting fees, seats' reservation in colleges.

    This purely depends on every individual. How much financial independence you have. Travel every year or 6 to 8 months to visit the family. Everyone is busy in India as well these days. Family members are all busy. Parents are the connecting roots for people living in abroad. You have no driving force to visit India often once you loose your parents. And it will happen eventually. If you are blessed, you will find a well connected, loving and caring Indian communities in abroad. People celebrate festivals together. Stand by you in your tough time. You return the same when needed. You create a new world as an immigrants. And again this is not true for everyone. Many people living in india struggle around relatives and friends. It can happen in abroad as well.
    Never move back to india thinking that you raise your kids in your culture. It’s bad there as well. You can practice your culture wherever you are living and kids will follow you.

    Its the lack of process and law everywhere. If you are able turn blind eye every nonsense around then fine else I will guarantee you will return back.
    Grass is always greener on other side. The impact of carelessness and irrationality and lack of genuine functional system is such that whatever you do one day you or near one will be victim.

    Be very careful about moving back anywhere. The world continued to change since you left your home country. People are only interested in you for what they can get. If you have nothing or refuse to give, you will find they disappear. Leave your money in foreign banks, especially if you are planning to return to India.

  • @TheBaranika
    @TheBaranika ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I find this very biased. It is up to the individual as to what their priority is and what their life circumstances are. People who move back to India are not living in Sooraj Barjatiya movie style homes and being all sanskari. Love for your family is not dependent on distance, so many people lead tough lives abroad so their families in India can live a better life. India has more crime and corruption than US, unless you live in those NRI gated communities. It is more difficult for women and girls who face sexual harassment. There are so many pros and cons on both sides. Ultimately do what works for you and your family, don't attribute morals to your decision. You moved to India because it worked for you - or maybe you lost your job or your visa expired. Whatever the reason may be .. good for you that you are happy, don't put others down to justify your decision.. just stick to your personal experience.
