Namaste 🙏
I am Pawan, I returned to India after 15+ years in USA.
My goal is to share my experiences and learnings during the return to India process.
I feel there are many people looking to return to India but can’t because of many unknowns, I am hoping to help them if I can with my limited view of the world🙏
I am no expert but learned through experiences and it was really emotional roller coaster ride for me and family.
Please ask questions or comment so I can talk about specific topics.

My life Journey Part 2- Immigration preparation
The age of children should be less than 10 years if you want to go back and have them adjust in India easily. I have seen various sets of problems when parents go back when the kids are teenagers. Also it is not fair to the kids to uproot them after that age.
The other age for you to go back is after the children are all settled and have their own career in the US. More of a retirement lifestyle in India.
The other thing you need to consider is age of the parent back home in India. I would want to be there to take care of them when they are old.
15 saal mein toh aap millionaire banke aye hoge. Fir toh koi bhi araam se settle ho hi jayega.
First things first, your daughter speaks very good Hindi. I don't know if that's her mother tongue. Second you have raised her well, she is very comfortable expressing her thoughts. You will not have any regrets moving back to India, since Bhartiya samskaras has no equivalent in the world. Our Aashirvad to your daughter for a wonderful life ahead.
Best wishes to your family
Good decision
Hey great video, What do you think is the best time to enrol child in school specially if you are returning from overseas ?
Hello Is there a way to connect with you offline 🙏🏻
Sir, which school did you choose ultimately in Bangalore.
Which school did she join after she came back from US
Very good. Apni country me raho.
You don’t need 1 lakh per month to live in India unless you want to live like a rich person over there. 20,000Rs should be enough for an Indian man
@@goldguilder9554 I agree with you it is subjective and given are my expenses not everyone
This video cleared lot of my dilemmas Thank you sir
Many of those in the US/Canada, may inherit a home or something in India. In that case returning makes sense. If one has nothing in India, moving back will be a financial challenge, given the low salaries in India. In any case, if kids are over 15 yo, they may find it very difficult to adjust. Very rarely I have seen parents with teenagers move back.
Thanks for being transparent and sharing your experience.Even we are from Bangalore planning to move , may I know which school your kids attend and which community you reside in .Thanks in advance
Why are I not posting new updates . Are u still enjoying India or thinking of returning to USA .
Pl guide me even we r thinking to move back but how my kid will learn hindi to read or write just giuide .how many years she stayed in u.s and how she is communicating. Help me

Thats a very good point, dont worry. You will slowly get there... 🙏 This should be mantra for life in any situation as we worry too much by overthinking always...
No money problems. It’s environmental toxins in food, water and air that kills our progeny! Google why smart India leaves India, answer is there! Your premise of argument is misplaced! Heat and dust of India, chaotic traffic, no civic sense etc
Institutions in India are not transparent, accountable, and lack integrity!
Very genuine video n practical. It all depends on how much Is enough as you rightly mentioned!
Ok wise man…. What happens to the social security that you have paid for , once you give up the green card. I think you loose it….. correct?
so decent salary to live in banglore with two kids? 35lakh above?
Raising children in US culture was a big No for me..gune Culture, woke culture No No
What’s your plan about your kids college education? Do you plan on undergrad or masters for them in US? Have you considered all that?
@@greenearth4611 no , going to cross the bridge when you come to it.
Very US centric advice. I cannot even think of numbers like 5cr in europe and uk.
Doesn't your allowance cover custom charges?
Which syllabus did she select ?
This is your country.Yoy dont look as though you lived in US that long.
Her hindi is very good. Here they want to speak english all the time.
Breathing polluted air, pedestrian walks filled with dog poop😮
Every country has one pros and cons.. In developed countries also see that in many places.. things will be exactly same if you check highly populated cities in the developed countries .. they are many tier-2 cities where you get free of traffic or no pollution.. again it depends on what you want ? What is your motive ? what alignment towards your roots family & friends etc..? Individual can pick what is good for them..
Appreciate to hear other side!!!!
A very important thing for most people who return to India, is to do a little study about investments in the Indian Stock Market. I know it’s a risk, but our stock market is one of the finest in the world. The entire system is well organised and safe for investors to make a good amount of money. It’s a risk worth taking. For safety, invest your money in mutual funds. Do not depend on advisors. Use websites like ETmoney or mutual funds Sahi hai. You have a choice of deciding between Equity, Hybrid and Debt funds. Equity carries a higher risk, but the average earnings per annum is between 20-60%, Hybrid lesser risk than equity but earnings could be between 15-30%, Debt is like keeping your money in FD where earnings are between 6-12%. And of course FD, which is between 6-8%. Ensure that you make FDs in big banks or post office only. Government bonds are another good option, giving you returns between 7-11%, with returns payable on monthly, quarterly or yearly. While transferring all your money, ensure that you divide your money between you and your wife so that tax implications don’t cause you a headache in future. Not everyone makes a lot of money abroad, but for whatever you have saved, India gives a good chance of survival, provided you use your money judiciously. Jai Hind, Jai Bharat 🇮🇳 ❤
Hi sir thank you very much . That was so informative. Just wondering if you paid customs for any clothing or shoes . I have around 60 pairs of shoes mostly all used and a lot of clothes, household items small electronics etc. I also have led strip lights etc can I ship everything or do you recommend to carry all electronics ? I am also curious if the shoes and clothes would be construed as otherwise. PS I am moving from Australia to India Bangalore specifically
@@vikanchJames we were not charged custom for clothes or shoes but we had to pay custom for old electronics as well.
Thank you so much for this information.
very nice

I live here in USA and yes, I sometimes think about moving back to India. But air, water and food quality is much more better here in USA. Your video was informative . Thanks.
Thanks for your comment and it is good that you are clear on priorities. All the best.
Nice video! Keep making new videos, we are also looking forward to move back to Bangalore next year :)
Sure 😊
Sir, such a helpful video. We have been thinking about move for a year now but always fear how kids would adjust in school. Which school Shubhi goes to ? Is it CBSE syllabus ? We do not want our kids in International school .
thanks for sharing your thoughts!
If one rupee = 40 usd. Then there will be no reason to go to usa. American govt school is inferior to indian private school.
Nice video. However, I found there are schools in Bangalore, where Kannada exemption is given. There are not many schools, but there are a few CBSE schools.
@@Revhappy829 Yes there are schools where French is offered as third language.
@@no-oneknows9236 Yes, we are looking mainly in the north Bangalore area. We found HDFC school, millennium world school and new horizon international school. All 3 allow Kannada exemption. Then some schools which are new like NPS north, say they start kannada from basics even for 8th std because many out of state kids come. So that is also an option. Overall, we have good options in the less than 3L per annum fees range. In north Bangalore I am hoping rents are lower. I don't want to spend more than 35K on rent.
### The Complex Narrative of Desis Returning to India: A Critical Analysis In recent times, various podcasters and commentators have been exploring the trend of Desis returning to India from the USA, Canada, and European countries. However, a crucial aspect often missing from these discussions is the status of the individuals' citizenship. Specifically, do they hold a passport from these countries, and have they voluntarily surrendered their citizenship to return to India? The answers to these questions could significantly influence the credibility and relevance of their narratives. #### The Significance of Citizenship The possession of a passport from a Western country indicates access to a host of benefits, including quality healthcare, education, social services, and retirement packages. When individuals choose to return to India, especially if they hold citizenship from these nations, they are making a pronounced statement. It raises important questions about their motivations: 1. **Understanding Motivation**: If a person is returning to India while still holding onto their foreign passport, it suggests a more complicated relationship with their homeland. Their stories may not reflect the typical immigrant experience; instead, they might highlight a desire for new opportunities or a temporary retreat rather than a complete commitment to India's future. 2. **The Implications of Surrendering Citizenship**: Surrendering a foreign passport means relinquishing significant benefits. Individuals lose access to retirement plans, medical benefits, and social security that they might have earned while living abroad. This act should not be taken lightly, as it suggests a deep commitment to returning to Indian society. It invites the question: Are they willing to sacrifice these benefits to truly reconnect with their roots? 3. **Quality of Life Considerations**: Quality of life is another vital factor. Countries like the USA, Canada, and those in the EU offer advantages, including better healthcare systems, more robust social security, and a higher standard of living. For those who choose to return to India, this decision often requires serious contemplation about whether the sacrifices-in terms of benefits and quality of life-are worth it. #### A Call for Nuanced Conversations Podcasters should aim to create more nuanced discussions around this topic. By probing into citizenship status and the implications of returning, they could enrich the conversation, moving beyond simplistic labels of "winners" and "losers." Engaging with these complex questions can reveal the thoughtful, sometimes painful, considerations behind such life-changing decisions. #### Conclusion In conclusion, the narrative surrounding Desis returning to India is multifaceted and deserving of deeper exploration. Understanding whether these individuals hold foreign citizenship and what they are sacrificing by returning can significantly enhance our perceptions. True stories of returnees are best comprehended when we consider their motivations, the potential loss of benefits, and the quality of life they leave behind. As discussions on this topic continue to unfold, incorporating these critical elements will lead to a more comprehensive and meaningful dialogue.
