I attended Latin Mass once- only to leave it totally confused! The Choir was in the gallery doing its thing, The priest and his men were up in front doing their thing, And the people were in the pews quietly praying with seemingly little to no awareness, and not even caring of what else is going on around them! No sense of unity or community or communication between anything or any one! If the Mass is supposed to be the official public prayer of the Church, shouldn’t everybody be in unity with each other? Not only that, But even with the English translation in the missal, I couldn’t keep up with what was going on! What was I supposed to be one with exactly? What were they doing? I got no guide on it at all and no one was around or even willing to help me! The next day I attended a Mass at a Lithuanian cultural Center close to my home (I was living in Illinois at the time.) There, it was done in the Ordo Missae form (NOT “Novus Ordo”! It’s really “Ordo Missae” according to Fr. Peter M.J. Stravinskas). Everything was orderly, easy to follow along- the priest led, the people responded accordingly, there was unity and community involved throughout- and I don’t know a word of Lithuanian! Another thing- I have attended Byzantine, Maronite and Anglican Ordinariate Liturgies in the Catholic Belief. None of those who attend those liturgies on a regular basis even care how everyone else worships! But those that attend Tridentine Latin Mass regularly have this attitude of that liturgy is the only right one, everything else be condemned, especially “Ordo Missae”! That doesn’t sound very Christlike to me! I’ll never attend Tridentine Latin Mass again!
We had the TLM “traditional Latin mass“ at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Austin, Texas, and of ALL the masses offered. It was the most well attended. The bishop decided to terminate it and replace it with the ordinary mass. And because of this one action, he caused the termination of millions of dollars of funding to various Catholic institutions.
@@jeannehall6546 The TLM is known for being meditative and not for community hand shaking. Mass is supposed to be about God, not community. It is worship of God, after all. There is plenty of time outside of Mass for community. During Mass, we are united in faith and the Eucharist which is true Catholic unity. Unity is not about hand shaking or talking to our neighbor during Mass. The TLM draws thousands of young and old alike with full Mass attendance as well as young men filling the traditional seminaries and young women in traditional religious orders. I'm sorry that you didn't get it.
Jeanne. The Mass is primarily the worship of God the Father through the Sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross. With that as a starting point you may have a little different perspective. And you are correct, it takes about 6 months to learn the "pattern" of the Latin Mass.
We would love to be included in this list. We average 150 new families a year, from just over 1600 families in 2016 to over 3000. We have Daily Mass M-Say, a Vigil mass on Saturday, and 4 Masses, including one in Spanish on Sunday. We also have Masses in Polish, Korean, and Tagalog. Our new Cathedral was dedicated in 2018.
They all have that very Protestant vibe that was pointed out on the last one. Well, maybe not St. Patrick’s in NY. They were all either ugly, whitewashed function hall looking places or they resemble the bridge of a space ship in Star Trek. I bet there are a lot of altar girls, dozens of Extraordinary Ministers and cringy music at all these parishes.
In the Philippines, it is common in every church to have Three (3) Masses a day from Monday to Saturday. with Nine (9) masses on Sunday. At popular shrines, they can have as many as twelve (12) masses on Sunday.

@@davidstout6051 When I moved to Dallas in the 1980s an article came out in the newspaper about the great influx of Catholics moving to the Dallas area. There was a high school run by Cistercian monks whose baseball team was scheduled to play against a Baptist school. When the Baptists found out that their opponents were Catholic, they refused to play.
Protestant mega-church parish aside, these all appear to be great options for families. I prefer a smaller, more austere church and traditional liturgy in Latin, but these larger communities can provide a great experience as well. The parish I grew up in was just like these large parishes and I am the better for it.
Why isn't the Immaculata in St Marys Kansas mentioned? I believe the regulars alone add up to about 4,500. It's certainly the most impressive church building of the lot.
Possibly because of their Irregular status. I myself am a Novus Ordo Catholic and have no real issues with the SSPX. They nourish His flock and that's what matters most.
We have a capacity at our privately run Catholic Church in Berlin of about 700 people. When it is is full (as it often is - four masses on Sundays, two on weekdays) it is just about right. More than 1000 is rather a cathedral feeling for special holy days...

Good for you, Latin Mass fans. There is a place for tradition. But what of the many churches that were forced by their diocese to merge with another church and then close?
So you're saying that just because a church is experiencing large growth and membership that it's a bad church??? That's not true at all. Usually a church grows because the leaders are staying true to God's word and are serving the people instead of themselves.
These churches are located primarily in areas with growing populations and relatively high incomes. Of course, they’re going to have more congregants. As is true in real estate: location, location, location!
Large Parrishs have benefits to accommodate the size of parishioners Small Parrishs can cost more and shortage of priests But one must be careful with mega churches It comes under Pride , envy
The sad part of all this is that I noticed some of the churches removed the Tabernacle from the Altar. Very disturbing OMHO. Comunion on hand is already a big abuse to Our Lord! Quantity became the main focus of the Bishops agendas. Doing so they lost the true faithfull, and gained the fake ones. That is not what Jesus want.
Outside our failing old cities, churches are full because that is where the Catholics have moved. The numbers reflect the population, not the faithfulness of the parishioners.
What was said about St. Matthew in Charlotte is all true. We left that parish 3 years ago... after being founding members 36 years prior. It simply is not Catholic enough. In addition, they don't have a pastor, only an administrator. We now belong to St. Ann Catholic Church in Charlotte... a wonderful orthodox parish. I pray for St. Matthew and hope the new Bishop (Martin) will finally install a pastor.
Why is there no review of the Traditional Latin Mass parishes? They may not have the absolute numbers, but priestly vocations are disproportionate. No 'kumbaya' music there. And don't make the mistake of confusing numbers, with holiness and fidelity. Not saying that the 10 reviewed are not. Just saying that Protestant mega churches fill football stadiums, but no Eucharist, just singing, dancing, and long sermons without clear doctrine. Numbers don't mean anything. As Abp Fulton Sheen said - on Good Friday the Catholic Church was down to 5 - Jesus, Mary, John and 2 other women. All the others had fled.
I sometimes attended Holy Family in Orlando. I got laughed out of there for refusing to support some organizations it has there that are in question by the Church, or even not recognized by the Church- like Holy Cenacle and Tradition, Family and Property/TFP/America Needs Fatima- even with the evidence that they are not supported that I presented! I have not been back since and I have no intention to return anytime soon, if ever! So much for trying to present the Real Truth!
I think if its hard to hear the homily because of screaming children then this is not a good thing. Quantity does not trump quality. The church should be a place of peace where parishioners can enjoy the presence of the Lord not have to listen to someone elses children being allowed run amuck. Please parents, control your children when at mass. If they become unsettled take them outside until they're settled then bring them back inside. Disrupting the mass and especially the gospel and homily is unacceptable.
The correct title of the Christian denomination you document is: The Roman Catholic Church. “Catholic” means “Universal”. There are other churches in the world that use catholic in their title.
Many people don’t know that the name “Roman Catholic” was given to us by Protestants. But it has called itself the Catholic Church since St. Ignatius of Antioch. The name, Roman Catholic, is not the official name used by the Holy See, the central government of the Catholic Church in Vatican City. There it is called, the Church or the Catholic Church. If you go to Wikipedia, e.g., you will find it under, Catholic Church. The Roman term finds its origins in the 17th Century by members of the Church of England who also called it the Romish Church, Popist Church and called Catholics, papists. There are 24 autonomous churches in communion with the pope. There is the Roman Rite - Catholics in the Western World and the Eastern Rite - Catholics in Eastern churches who follow their own religious heritage traditions such as Maronite Catholics (many in Lebanon), Ukrainian Catholics and Chaldean Catholics (Middle East, Michigan). By 2050, 75% of Catholics will live outside the west.
Any Roman Catholic parish which resembles even in the slightest, a Protestant faith community is not truly Roman Catholic. We need to return to our true Catholic roots, and offer to God the extra ordinary form of the Holy Mass and step away from the ordinary form. God deserves an offering to Him in thanksgiving high solemn liturgies.
As I look at the pictures of the Catholic congregations in America, I see a predominance of grey or white hair!! Young people refuse to come to church once they leave the family nest. Sitting in a church, watching a ceremony for an hour, done by a priest is the key to the lock that keeps heaven shut to non Mass goers! Strictly from the Middle Ages and that is the problem why young people stop going to church! God is our Father and He love His children. He gives them life to help his or her brothers and sister. We don't earn His love! Ceremony, vestments, and scriptures are not more important to Jesus than people!!!
Noisy children especially during the sacred parts of the Mass, i.e. the Consecration, are very off-putting! The pstents should take them outside to quieten them down, but more than that, they should train them in advance. When I was a child, we would not look sideways, let alone wander around or crying non-stop. We knew better! The parents are to blame, not the children.
God is present at all Catholic Masses. Propaganda against women on the Altar by Latin Mass advocates is unhelpful. God wants us to grow and flourish like the seeds that fell on fertile soil.
OMG I'm French Canadian, I'm really sorry for the architecture of your churches. I will pray for you really. None of these churches would be name a church for us (excepte te one in NY). Didn’t watch…but must share… I was raised in the catholic religion… they are beautiful people, sincere in their faith BUT are sincerely wrong!!! Jesus told Nicodemus in John 3:3, One must be born again to see the Kingdom of God!!! Because we inherited a sin-nature AND LIFE was LOST in the Garden, Jesus came to earth to give us Second Birth, making our dead spirit come ALIVE in Christ, receiving Holy Spirit Who IS our Seal for living a Holy life here and forever in Heaven!!! There are NO man-made religious denominations in Heaven, only those who have been REborn into the Family of God!!!! It’s just that simple!!!!!!!!!!⚓️⚓️⚓️

The Choir was in the gallery doing its thing, The priest and his men were up in front doing their thing, And the people were in the pews quietly praying with seemingly little to no awareness, and not even caring of what else is going on around them! No sense of unity or community or communication between
anything or any one!
@@jeannehall6546 did you know that the pew would’ve had a red book so you could fall along with most of the prayers?
Jeanne. The Mass is primarily the worship of God the Father through the Sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross. With that as a starting point you may have a little different perspective. And you are correct, it takes about 6 months to learn the "pattern" of the Latin Mass.
Wow, lots in Texas!❤
@@GorCancio Philippines is a predominately Catholic country. We’re talking about the U.S.A. here.
This is amazing! Praise God! I wish that was common in the US
"....because even when the Eucharist is celebrated on the humble altar of a country church, the Eucharist is celebrated on the altar of the world". Ecclesia de Eucharista. Pope John Paul II
I will bless the Lord @all time's His praise shall ever be on my lips Amen
I usually think of Texas as Baptist territory. Clearly they have some competition. 😉
It depends what area in Texas
@@davidstout6051 When I moved to Dallas in the 1980s an article came out in the newspaper about the great influx of Catholics moving to the Dallas area. There was a high school run by Cistercian monks whose baseball team was scheduled to play against a Baptist school. When the Baptists found out that their opponents were Catholic, they refused to play.
@@darrellperez1029 Agreed, San Antonio is very Catholic as suggested by the name itself
The idolatry papist Church of Rome is no competition for the true Christian Protestant faith which preaches the true Christian Protestant gospel

What does your church do to evangelize? Do you gave outreach to the community?
Where is Saint Laurence Catholic Church in Sugarland Texas?
Saint JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH In Pomona USA!! 🙏.... MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE PARISH!
In Queens Ny most churches on Sunday are attended only by few old people. No families with kids. It is sad to see that,.
Protestant mega-church parish aside, these all appear to be great options for families. I prefer a smaller, more austere church and traditional liturgy in Latin, but these larger communities can provide a great experience as well. The parish I grew up in was just like these large parishes and I am the better for it.
The ultimate parish is in your heart. That can never be locked down🙏🕯️✝️
Why isn't the Immaculata in St Marys Kansas mentioned? I believe the regulars alone add up to about 4,500. It's certainly the most impressive church building of the lot.
Possibly because of their Irregular status. I myself am a Novus Ordo Catholic and have no real issues with the SSPX. They nourish His flock and that's what matters most.
We have a capacity at our privately run Catholic Church in Berlin of about 700 people. When it is is full (as it often is - four masses on Sundays, two on weekdays) it is just about right. More than 1000 is rather a cathedral feeling for special holy days...
Most of these are major metro areas... kind of deceiving. Look at smaller markets and see that the packed masses are the TLM.
SOUNDS GOOD HOWEVER HOW MANY CATHOLIC CHURCHES AND SCHOOLS HAVE CLOSED?
And how many have opened? My diocese seems to add a parish about every 15 years. It's all about population.
@@julieCA58 YOU MIST LIVE IN AN AREA OF THE AR 15 CROWD IS NEW YORK CITY ENOUGH POPULATION
FOR YOU, NATIONALLY THERE ARE ABOUT 19,000 CATHOLIC CHURCHES THE SMALLEST NUMBER ON OVER 50 YEARS PINHEAD!
I prefer to attend Mass at a smaller church. I also listen to the Daily TV Mass from Toronto, Canada, on TH-cam.
What accounts for the popularity?
We just lost our priest due to a change in visa renewals....we are not alone. Tell me how this helps the average church survive????
Hello! Your Baltimore numbers are misleading. The numbers you cite describe the City of Baltimore and not the entire archdiocese.
Good for you, Latin Mass fans. There is a place for tradition. But what of the many churches that were forced by their diocese to merge with another church and then close?
❤Keep up the faith and keep God old and new commandments always ❤love and peace be with you all ❤
I think ill go for the smaller, faithful Holy Mass..
So you're saying that just because a church is experiencing large growth and membership that it's a bad church??? That's not true at all. Usually a church grows because the leaders are staying true to God's word and are serving the people instead of themselves.
I really wanted to watch this, but the loud, awful music made it terrible.
Amen alleluia
These churches are located primarily in areas with growing populations and relatively high incomes. Of course, they’re going to have more congregants. As is true in real estate: location, location, location!
Large Parrishs have benefits to accommodate the size of parishioners Small Parrishs can cost more and shortage of priests
But one must be careful with mega churches It comes under Pride , envy
The sad part of all this is that I noticed some of the churches removed the Tabernacle from the Altar. Very disturbing OMHO. Comunion on hand is already a big abuse to Our Lord! Quantity became the main focus of the Bishops agendas. Doing so they lost the true faithfull, and gained the fake ones. That is not what Jesus want.
Outside our failing old cities, churches are full because that is where the Catholics have moved. The numbers reflect the population, not the faithfulness of the parishioners.
What I see from these top ten, I believe 6 are in Texas!❤🙏
Many churches in Texas.
How many of these parishioners have English as their native language?
I sometimes attended Holy Family in Orlando. I got laughed out of there for refusing to support some organizations it has there that are in question by the Church, or even not recognized by the Church- like Holy Cenacle and Tradition, Family and Property/TFP/America Needs Fatima- even with the evidence that they are not supported that I presented! I have not been back since and I have no intention to return anytime soon, if ever! So much for trying to present the Real Truth!
tradition, family and property (TFP) does a lot of protests, peaceful protests, praying the rosary.
Did this survey deliberately avoid Latin Masses? How obvious...
Surprised you didn't list st. Matthews in Charlotte, n.c. they are the largest populated church in the U.S.
Surprised you didn't watch the whole video...
Not anymore - it was passed two years ago by St. Charles Borromoe in Visalia, Calif.
Be careful if you thrive to much your priest might get a papal visit.
Because the religious still haven't met their burden.
Bah-ah-ah-ah-ah!
Vatican must replace novus ordo with anglican ordinariate rite

SSPX IS THE CATHOLIC CHURCH
God is present at all Catholic Masses. Propaganda against women on the Altar by Latin Mass advocates is unhelpful. God wants us to grow and flourish like the seeds that fell on fertile soil.
Don't forget about the other 2 crosses!!!!!!¡!!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome.
OMG I'm French Canadian, I'm really sorry for the architecture of your churches. I will pray for you really.
None of these churches would be name a church for us (excepte te one in NY). These all look like protestant churches for us.
We are closing churches 10 times better looking then these. The smallest church here look better then those.
