- "Great, I'm dissing a fellow Canadian here..."
Canadian rock band Metric hash it out over songs by Alanis Morissette, JoniMitchellcom, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and more on Jam or Not a Jam!
Do you agree with them?

I agree with Emily, I don't think covers should sound too much like the original. What's the point. If it sounds just like the original, you might as well just listen to the original.
I feel like the cover is ironic. Like they are intentionally covering a bad, bad song with all the technical prowess and accuracy they can muster.
And if that's not the case, then I guess I don't get it.
Production upgrades, because they're fun to play, to bring them "up to date" or to put their own spin on it. Completely disagree.
@@Barnaclebeard You don't get it. That song is legendary.
I absolutely agree. It's completely pointless, and like you said, there's no reason to listen to a cover that similar.
@@jeremyc9593 It's legendary for being a nonsensical word salad
“Well we’ll well it’s the Yeah Yeah Yeahs...you guys forgot to pay your rent”
Ah the shade of it all
I like that they were honest about what they didn't like without being unnecessarily rude.
oh ouch, a case of you by Joni Mitchell is one of the most beautiful songs of all time
"She inspired me" has to be the harshest critique in the context he put it I ever heard
So canadian of them to say "all the best" after a negative opinion, I love them.
Lol so true. Didn't think about it like that! Love our 'Canadianisms'...
Love these jam or not jams
The Shade they threw hahaha love them always
They're hilarious together!
Hipster douches.
This was great, except it needs to be at least 10 min longer...
Thanks! What sons would you have picked for Metric?
Wow, they don't like Joni Mitchell? Oh boy.
i don't either. She's old hat.
That one hurt me a bit. Huge metric and Joni Mitchell fan
When Joni came on (especially that song) I kept saying JAM, JAM, JAM! Come ON!
They picked the wrong Joni Mitchell song to play for them.
k ready for cilantro's debut album now jimmy
hahah. What kind of music do you think "Cilantro" should make?
I was in a band called Jamage once..pretty cool.
Case of You is a JAM! I love you Emily and Jimmy, but Joni is my Jam.
I didn't know they used to live with Yeah Yeah Yeahs 🤯🤯
"You know that feeling when you put a record on and just cant do it" yeah... I do
Why does Jimmy remind me of my old teacher?
I like how some people think they were being polite in this. I think they were throwing shade quite liberally and being quite sarcastic with "all the best." Maybe they were trying to be funny?
Hand in my Pocket by Alanis is the ultimate JAM!
diossss emily!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hate cilantro but i like Metric
Weezee not a jam, allanis not a jam.. what?
They dont like Alanis, wow. My favorite band doesn’t like my favorite singer.
Metric fans - who is champ?
Hey fair enough, Metrics sweet and I agree. covers should never sound exactly like the original, whats the point... my favourite episode tho was with Win Regine & Tim of Arcade Fire... Regine was sooo cute, "TUUUURN IT UP"
Weezer’s “Africa” is someone else’s jam
Emily so beautiful with a cap!
why are they listening through one ear cup? xDDDD
since you play canadian bands for the most part start playing TWRP
it tastes like soap..
I still hold out hope that one day, Emily will fall hopelessly in love with me, like I did her.
I still hold out hope that Emily Haines (and the Soft Skeleton) will do a solo album every year instead of every ten years. I prefer her solo albums over Metric. Especially "Choir of the Mind": th-cam.com/video/AJQ6mpZN58U/w-d-xo.html
@@shephrd I will certainly encourage her to do so when we are canoeing through Algonquin on our honeymoon.
I love Metric but I agree that her solo albums are even better.
haha so im not the only one
Alexander, I don't mind if she visits you when she's on the road.
01:08 "....because you wanted to not be like them."
That's an idiotic reasoning to make music, out of spite.
@Luke Metric? Not really. I like this band, but that was just a weird answer. It appears that you love throwing that term around, so you do you.
How can you not like Joni Mitchell? That questions your whole music carrier.
I'm totally with them on this one. *snooze*
Music carrier? Is that like an iPod or something?
Joni Mitchell's voice annoys me. I do love Alanis though.
Dont like Alanis or Joni Mitchell...boo..crazy
Dang the shaaaaade! Meanwhile I’m like...”who’s Metric?”
i f'n hate cilantro.
Really?!
i know! its true!
Hand in Pocket not a Jam???
Not a fair choice of Joni Mitchell song. She has written some wonderful stuff and some annyoing music. So why pick a poor song? Ps: love metric!
"You know that feeling when you put a record on and you just can't listen to that". Ya...whenever I hear a Metric song....I feel exactly that. It's not the lyrics....it's not the music per se....It's the singer's voice.....It's like sitting in margerine. But I do appreciate and admire how they talked about the tracks and voiced their view. It was tasteful.
Do these people hate music?
I wish I could comment on every one of these Jam or No Jam videos. CBC plays the worst music PERIOD. This is a horrible series.
lmao If they named their band Cilantro I would hate that band as much as cilantro. I cannot stand cilantro. It's disgusting.
Alanis not a JAM...Must be from a different Planet. Yikes.
