    One final comment. Love how you edited the video to start straight away with the cut, then showed the process, and finally assembly. You prioritized it by importance. It's little touches like this that make you a cut above the competition.

    I cut residential lawns for a living. I have had 2 ego 21in self propelled mowers in the last 6 months. Both burnt out the wiring, both happened when I was only using the drive. They replaced the first one under warranty, the second is still in the shop.

    I just installed mine and used it for the first time. Added weight runs the 7.5 battery down faster. When turning on concrete driveway it leaves a big black swirl mark. No way to remove it from the mower after cutting so if you have been used to storing your mower upright the way Ego designed it you can’t do that anymore. It a big fan of the Big League Lawn stripper.

    When using self propel, the torque of the wheels lifts the deck a smidgen. To stripe without a kit, push going one way and self propel going the other way. I do this naturally on hills. The downhill pass is always cut just a smidgen lower than the uphill cuts. Stripes come out nice.

    Nice vid. Strips are mostly seen clearly by the angle you are viewing the grass/yard and the sun. It would have been nice to see two/three strips on a normal cut (without the kit).
    Also, cutting down your side wall first may give you more room to swing the mower around.. Nice yard, you’ve taken care of your yard very well.

    I'm sure its been said before, but the EGO just really lacks in suction. I have the Select Cut and the Big League striper, started striping a lawn that was renovated half a year ago, but striping it has really messed it up. The Ego just does not have the suction to lift grass to cut properly, the new grass wouldnt bounce back enough to get a good cut again. It didnt take long for the grass to start to matte down. There would be no problem if the mower had more power. Ive used the same setup on an established yard with less fuss.

      Don't know about Ego, but I'll tell you my experience with a Toro electric with this striper. Striped great, but the added weight did significantly reduce run time. Also made turning more annoying than it needed to be. Used it all last year. This year, I took it off and I prefer it off. Another downside of this set up (and I have used Ego mowers) is that they don't have as much power as gas, so not as much suction. The problem I ran into is that the striper laid down the grass like it should, extremely well. But next time I mowed, it didn't have enough suction to really lift it and cut it well. The grass started matting on itself. Just my 2 cents.

    I've been striping with my ego steel deck mower for a year now. Luckily, I have an amazing neighbor. And he was able to fabricate a system to install this big league kit on my steel deck. And, I can mow at my lowest setting without bracket hitting concrete, or digging ruts in the grass. Big league was very late with this one. I'm curious to see how Big League made this work on the steel deck mower🤔

  • @jasonriccoboni5931
    @jasonriccoboni5931 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Helpful video! As I've seen others state, I would think that the added weight would certainly put undo strain on the motor and self proportion system, which may lead to unwanted wear. I guess only time will tell, and worse case scenario, EGO backs their power equipment for five years, so I would assume you're covered. The other thing I noticed, or assume, is that adding a striping kit on the back of the mower would hinder the upright storage feature?

      You do however have to swing the striper underneath the mower so it is on the cutting deck side when standing straight up. We tested this, and it is the reason we went with the swivel clamp mounting hardware in the first place. We realize vertical storage is important to many of our customers, so we did our best to not impede its functionality.

    That's very pricy for a mostly plastic striper. I bet a good man could make one for less than $50 that would work better. However I did give this video a thumbs up. The reason you can't go to level 2 or 1 is the grass needs to be longer to "stripe" ....that is lay over the grass so you see stripes. IMO striping is a little too much "bling" for a lawn but some people like it so more power to them. And it's most likely a 14mm wrench/socket but 9/16" does work fine as does the 3/4" inch for what is more likely a 19mm head.

    $110 and 20 extra pounds aren’t worth the cosmetic effect of a striper. Also you should be cutting alternate strips with each mow meaning cut vertical lines this week then horizontal lines next week.

      $110 is actually pretty cheap especially that it's made well and made in the USA

    Thanks for sharing, I ordered one two minutes into your video.
    You are cutting in too much, your stripes should be even width. I know it's hard to film and get everything perfect at the same time.
    As I mentioned try cutting at 45 degrees, may make the lawn stand out a bit more.
