  • I swear this used to be easier, there is a plot twist at the end.
But it was worth it in the end (no pun intended).
You should be fine but by all means please drop a comment if you would like any further information or guidance.

Waiting on mine to arrive. Only thing I shall do differently is using my router to take out the slot foe the pin to slide easily. But otherwise to the letter. Great to watch.

Thank you for watching and thank you for your comment much appreciated. Glad the video was helpful. I definitely need to get a router. I did another video fitting a pad to the BSA Lightning and I used Aluminium black on the bare aluminium parts, I think it looks much better.
Good luck with fitting yours, it is well worth the work.

You could always plug the original screw holes with a small piece of wood, tooth pick or whatever and wood glue. Let it dry and you won’t have issues with the screw or drill bit seeking the original holes as you drill the new one.

Hello, thank you for your comment and thank you for the tip, much appreciated 👍🏻.
It wouldn't have helped with this gun but I will keep it in mind for my other rifles (I've got 4 awaiting adjustable butt pads).

Just a small correction. The paper depth marker should show only the thread depth of the screw. You allowed for the 'whole screw which is not going into the stock.

Hello, thank you for your comment much appreciated. I intentionally drill a little bit further so that there is no stress at the bottom of the hole when the screw is tightened up. I should have mentioned that in the video.

I’d be tempted to fill old holes with cotton wool & superglue. Sets like a rock and will stop new screw from skewing off. It re drillable also.

60 years later I still bear the scar on the back of my hand from when my Grandfather caught me drawing one of his files backwards.

Ouch. Kids of today wouldn't understand that.

you should glue in a wooden dowel in the old screw holes

Thanks for the tip, much appreciated 👍🏻.
If all else had failed I would have done, however the option to drill new holes was there fortunately so I got on with it.
I recently fitted one to a Ruger RPR, that was a pain.

You already had the spacer on the original butt pad and the correct shape too, so refitting that would have made cutting the slot in the stock unnecessary as you could have cut the slot in the spacer. Or would it have been impossible to separate it from the original ?

    • @nickvending9688
      @nickvending9688  ปีที่แล้ว +3

Hello, thank you for your comment. Sadly there was no separate spacer on the original pad. I have now got a stock of spacers that I will trial on the next one and then I'm going to start making my own spacers with the slot and holes already in place.

No worries, happy to help. Good luck, you will definitely be glad you did it, it makes a world of difference.
Check out video NV108, I used aluminium black on the metal parts of the buttpad, I'm going to start doing them all like that now as I much prefer the look compared to the bare metal.

TH-cam takes so damn long to load the videos (3 hours), I'd finished editing it at midnight. Excuse is a touch of insomnia.
Glad you enjoyed it, hope it was helpful.

Hello, thank you for your comment much appreciated 👍🏻.
Mechanically mine was excellent out of the box too, I'm really happy with it.
I did feel that the adjustable butt pad made it easier to get comfortable when shooting.
