Sounds like that could be used to measure an ovel instead of a perfect Circle. Like if you wanted to measure the radius of a Football. But this is all Decimal math. No stupid Fractions. I hate Fraction math, it's extra for no reason.

One guy YEARS ago thought i was ripping him off on my pipe estimate for an electric conversation to HWBB. Long story short i bet him a bottle of johny blue that i would be within 20% not including cut offs. I was within 10% and that was a good bottle of whiskey!

the way I learned was to measure center to center of the pipe, multiply by 1.41 and then subtract the two fittings, seems easier my way.

Use piping layman's a standard 45 degree offsetting is your Run or your Set times 1.414 get total travel subtract for you fittings and weld gap!!!
