I would like to tell my story! I survived a severe traumatic brain injury. 19 years ago. After a coma, the injury, multiple fractures….six in my skull alone, I survived. I was an RN before and I became a DON after. I have a story of hope and encouragement to tell others. Or to be a test subject.

No one understands the dark lonely road of a brain injury but others who have suffered the same. I unfortunately understand

Me too. Slept for two years. Lost executive function of brain and memory. Couldn’t read, couldn’t speak, lost balance entirely. It’s been very hard coming back. Made life not worth living. But I’m getting my ability back very slowly. Don’t ever give up!

First, I can be a poster board for surviving TBI,
When I was 4 yrs old, I got hit by a drunk driver speeding down our road, he was also a midget, I was running across the street and I got struck in the upper back of my head, there was blood all over the place, at the hospital, the doctors told my family that they need to take me home and enjoy the days with me that I have left, I went from a very active, reading by age 4 to a 4 year old in a retardation state, I had to learn how to walk, to be potty trained again, eat, drink and so on, I basically was like a baby, then after over a year, I snapped out of it and became the Devil's Child so my family states. If I ever had any brain damage, I guess I grew up with it and do not recognize any symptoms of it. I have scars and I have some issues but nothing so far that has not been debilitating.#braininjuryhelp

I have a brain injury from Lupron that was given as a mediator for prostate cancer. After I realized it was killing me I refused it but it was too late. I did handle my cancer but five years later I still have a pretty severe brain injury. Brain injuries DO NOT always get better day by day or minute by minute. I wish they did...
    for all of us.

How does one get a brain injury without physical blunt trauma to the brain?
Despite my question I have you in my prayers Roger!!

I got HitByCityBus & lawyers can not sue here. Horrid living like this fighting insurance for treatments & help.
It is so absurd having to live with PTSD mTBI without help. Homeless for the first time in my life. Confused most days due to stress, I think.
Worst is family not understanding. Everyone staying away no support.
Destroys lives these at fault drivers!

Thanks to Ryder Trauma Center / Jackson Memorial Hospital I am grateful to be alive. I am Marcelo Vidal and use to work at Pistils & Petals on Miami Beach, FL. and had my second night time job working on Venetian Lady Yacht Charters doing fabulous weddings and private parties for the rich and famous unfortunately on 10/17/15 this high speeding driver did not stop on his red light and crushed me in my car until firefighters arrived with, " Jaws of Life " rescued me out by boarding me on a Black Hawk Helicopter owned by Jackson Hospital which airlifted me Ryder Trauma Center / Jackson Memorial Hospital were I laid in coma for 29 days and stayed hospitalized for 6 months recovering from a fractured leg and Traumatic Brain Injury, TBI.. What saved my life was wearing my seatbelts as I am going to be doing therapy for the rest of my life and so grateful to be alive. I was released home wheel chair bound and wearing pampers because I could not comprehend until Brain Injury Association of Florida authorized therapy at American Pro-Health Physical Rehabilitation Center and by the Grace of God and the excellent therapy within a given me by Rafael GarciaOrtiz within a year or so I can walk, talk, comprehend and use the restroom.as I am grateful to be alive. By this time I was cleared to do Aquatic Therapy by Kelly Gomez Messett at Jackson Health System Recreation Therapy Neuro Group and had an awesome time swimming in an Olympic Pool as I am grateful to be alive. As I continue seeking Adaptive Rowing Therapy at Miami Beach Rowing Club while looking up I would to enjoy the beautiful South Florida weather as a crack of smile appears on my face knowing how thankful and grateful I am to be alive. During all this time till present date I have sessions with my Neuropsychologist Dr.Susan Ireland from the five inch head scare I have across my head that gives me constant pounding headaches with hallucinations and I can not take any medications because it would intensify my hallucinations so Dr. Ireland tought me this breathing counting exercise a form of meditation that has taken all my symptoms away as I have been DRUG-FREE NO MEDS for more than a year now as I continue doing therapy at Jackson Rehabilitation Hosp. continue my sessions with Dr. Ireland and attend TBI EXPRESSIONS CAFE/Recreation Therapy Neuro Group hosted by Kelly Gomez Messett every last Wednesday of the month at Diagnostic Building at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, FL.from 6:30pm-8 pm as I continue my daily therapies listening to tbi Music lovers and do LoveYourBrain YOGA- Meditation -BIKE/ELLIPTICAL/WALK as I am extremely grateful to be alive as I enjoy reading and listen to I CARE FOR YOUR BRAIN with Dr. Sullivan & Brain Chat because I am extremely grateful to be alive.

I'm 41 and played football most of my life. I had 6 hospitalized concussions. My worst one at 8 years old (accident at recess). Also, I grew up in a racist community, where I was hit with a baseball bat and stomped. Before I knew it I was home and didn't know how I got there. Days later I found out I beat the crap out of the kid that attacked me. Not sure how...lol. All my other concussions were on the field from elementary school through college

Many do not recover. Prospects are not good for those who have suffered 10 or more minutes of hypoxic ischemia. After 20 minutes they are likely to be brain dead.
