Firstly its impossible to get just like the Daytona. Retail is a lot higher than a two tone gmt or sub and the resale value is 100% above retail price. Definitely not great value
@@jtPwnz True that; I happen to be very lucky to own it; however, my friend has been all over the world looking for it. Wants to pay retail; there are 2-4 year wait lists for it.
I’ve admired this watch for its looks alone but now I’m even more impressed by its technical aspects. I had no idea it was this good. The ring command bezel is a great idea. These videos are fantastic each one has taught me something valuable and interesting. An outstanding channel
I had no idea it was that complicated... sort of makes me regret buying my SubC Date now. I guess i have something to look forward to in the future, i hope to add this to my collection one day
Excellent watch and I loved the way you set it up, I thought it was a genius move when the watch came out. On a side note, Citizen (although quartz) has been using the hour markers as month indicators when setting up a watch for ages, not only that, but they use the full hour marker as a leap year and minute markers after a full marker years after leap year, so you can set their perpetual calendar watches without having a leap year disc :) So September of 2017. Would be the first minute marker after the 9 o'clock hour marker as it is 9th month of leap year plus one year, GENIUS!!
Khaled Rahman Possibly, existing watch modifiers can also modify this one, although it would pose a problem that Rolex does not produce stainless steel fluted bezels. Rolex doesn’t regularly offer this watch in 100% steel. If you are a historically important collector with very deep pockets, though, you might be in the position to ask for a custom model. Why would you like to have a steel bezel?
That's it! That's the Rolex I'd buy if I had the budget for a high end watch. Beautiful, clean design, not oversized, not over decorated, only one knob protruding from the case, one set of hands, and ingenious use of the bezel.
Your making of each video... the subtle lighting, minimal background and props. The valuable information you provide for each of the Product, the voice modulation, basically EVERYTHING is getting me addicted to this channel 👍🏼👍🏼
I love my YM2 and I've been thinking about picking up a second Rolex. I like the Sky-Dweller but I also like the new ceramic Daytona, but at 40mm it's a bit small on my large wrist. I wish Rolex managed to somehow work in the day, which is a nice touch on an annual calendar, but I get why they didn't include it.
Very good video, but when we're watching newer ones we notice a high improvement of quality. Not that it wasn't good ! but that's very nice to see you becoming even better.
I have a Sky-Dweller in stainless and yellow gold. It's my favorite watch I own. Having a yellow gold Day-Date, a white gold Cellini, a stainless and platinum Yacht-Master, a stainless and rose gold Datejust, and an all stainless Datejust, that's saying a lot. You would think my solid gold Day-Date would be my favorite because it's the most sought after Rolex there is, but the Sky-Dweller is a special watch. Between the size, movement, and complication, it's a truly impressive timepiece that can be worn casually, in a business meeting, or going out for the evening; I love the versatility. Part of me wishes I would have bought one of the solid gold models, but the two tone has a certain sophistication about it that you don't get with a solid gold watch. It's elegance without the pretention. If you 're ever in a position to purchase a Rolex for the first time, I would highly recommend choosing the Sky-Dweller; you can't go wrong with this model.
I am lucky to have a bunch of Rolex, all back to 1961, I was never a fan of the sky dweller but the more I really learned about it and realized It is the most complicated Rolex ever made, no it is no a Patel annual or perpetual, I decided I must have one..I think that if watch box concentrated more on the workings and less on the wrist fit, these videos may even be better.
Great commentary on a really cool Rolex. I love how they came up with such a sleek design and for such relatively reasonable price, considering the competition.
And for what it's worth, someone with ADHD like me and I really appreciate a complication that you can actually play with on demand, like a chronograph or God forbid a minute repeater. So I really wish they made a complex one like this but for a chronograph or for something else interesting
The simple mention of Casio gives me hope for seing in the future a comparison between Casio, Seiko and Citizen top analogue radio signal watches, the second best option after high accuracy quartz (mechanicals are a different world that I like too, but less than good quartz)
Can you review a Ulysse Nardin Marine Chrono in steel with steel bracelet. Having just picked up a Rolex Sea Dweller DeepSea D Blue, I’m interested in getting the Marine. Im waiting for my dealer to get a Sky Dweller in Rolesor delivered.
@Watchfinder&Co what about the Oris Big Pilot, where the bezel can change the GMT marker position? Suppose it's not the same / as complicated. But similar thought pattern. Good on Rolex for finally trying something different. Awesome video and watch. Thank you.

Everyone knows that when on compared on the basis of time keeping, any luxury mechanical watch offers poor value compared to a simple $20 quartz watch... but watches are different things to different people. to some its a fashion statement, success statement, while to others its an appreciation for a brand with history in watchmaking, an admiration of the intricate mechanisms once built by hand and the amazing engineering behind it... while you can achieve a full calendar digitally for a fraction of the price, think about the engineering ingenuity to build a movement, essentially made of wheels, springs, and weights, that keeps track of time, date, month, year, with a margin of error of less than 2 seconds per day...self winding... that's impressive
I had very little interest or knowledge of the Sky Dweller but the demonstration of its complication changed that. It is so elegantly executed, simply breath-taking.
You learn something new everyday, and today I learnt that this watch is pretty damn good and worth consideration if my piggy bank ever has enough money in it to buy one.
Thank you very much for a great review the Sky Dweller in Steel is a very beautiful time-piece and the complication is magnificent. Value for money, there is a long waiting list and on the grey market going for over list price.
Love this watch...friend of mine got this ins a 2 tone recently from a rolex dealer for about 16300 USD....what would the steel version be then? I find his looked a bit big though.... Seemed much bigger than my 2 tone sub for some reason
I think the only Rolex I will ever say that is worth the price. The technical details that went into this piece are really something that people should appreciate. Generally Rolex is overpriced, but this is something that I think is really reasonable.

SeaJayB that other people don’t want it...like a fashion trend. I like it, but it’s not common, so I low key want it

Is it possible to get this watch in 100% steel? Or modify the watch to remove the white gold ceramic bezel with a steel version?
Khaled Rahman Possibly, existing watch modifiers can also modify this one, although it would pose a problem that Rolex does not produce stainless steel fluted bezels.
Rolex doesn’t regularly offer this watch in 100% steel. If you are a historically important collector with very deep pockets, though, you might be in the position to ask for a custom model.
Why would you like to have a steel bezel?
Also, humble Timex also used the bezel to set time, alarms, etc over 10 years ago
this is going to sound bizarre, it is for religious reasons.
Never heard that one before. Islam, I'm guessing? What's the restriction?
That's it! That's the Rolex I'd buy if I had the budget for a high end watch. Beautiful, clean design, not oversized, not over decorated, only one knob protruding from the case, one set of hands, and ingenious use of the bezel.

Might be a dumb question but how does the bezel interact with the internals and keep water resistant ?
Andrew Mark not a dumb question. I’d like to know too.
Not at all. I want to know too

Nice ring command bezel mechanism on the Rolex Sky Dweller. This is the jet set watch.
Never knew sky dweller was this complicated
I don't know why, but the phrase settled for the Daytona is just so funny to me.
Is there a Sky dweller that has a "greenish" dial like this one or is this just the blue dial with a greenish tint due to editing?

there is one thing i do not understand, it changes month every 31 days so dont you have to adjust it every other month?
An annual calendar "knows" which months have 31 or 30 days. The only time you need to adjust the date is at the end of February.
