1: meh. I don't have an opinion either way. 2: they are. The common misconception is that they're offensive, but they're not, they're defensive. 3: settlements do need an overhaul, but you can make it one of your primary bases. This can give you a good reason to frequent it. 4: I agree. I don't want some lame tower defense set up, pirate attacks can get cumbersome. 5: yes, but only some foods. I'd like the buffs to be better, and/or alternate options for filling life support and hazard protection. A tier 5 recipe should fill life support to full in challenging settings. So, slightly better. And things like Jetpack boost bonuses could be 10x longer.
Pin a planet in Discoveries and have it appear on your hub in while flying around a system so you can find the system faster. If you have discovered the portal on a planet, be able to pin the portal from the planet's page in the Discoveries section. Improve the quest tracking so that if you track a quest, you can pin it so that it will keep tracking it until you are done with it. If I am trying to track a mission progress for something, having it keep changing to remind me I have a chart in my bags or something else is just annoying. A fast way to improve inventory would be able to able to pin an item to a particular inventory slot. So even if you have zero of that item, that item is reserved for that slot. That way you can keep your inventory organized better. Have a graphic setting that lowers the graphical noise when using the Pulse Drive for streamers. Because that noise causes every video stream to turn to the worst quality ever and the game looks terrible. If there was an alternate graphics that looked good on stream the game would look a lot better to viewers.
It would also be nice if it was possible to encounter Pirate or unaligned freighters more commonly than jumping around pirate systems after the gameplay timer so that you can farm freighter upgrades without having to destroy your reputations.
Fully agree to your points. But the most anoying point for me is the storage system (or lack of it). You can store in your backpack, the ships, the frighter, the exocrafts and ......... I would like to have a station where I can see the complete storage, search, sort and so on. It is just boring to search all possible storage "chests".
Location scanner or whatever it is called! I have been sent in a large circle more than a few times, just to be led back to very close to where I landed. What is the purpose of that--extend the play time? All it does is aggravate me and I have actually quit the game because of having to walk 900 units just to see that the building or whatever is actually only 300 units from where I landed. I do scout the area as I fly in but sometimes I miss the location, especially grave sites and especially in mountainous regions. Agree with all the other items you listed, Cap'n, but if they would just get rid of this abomination I would be a happy girl.
I agree with all your points. Here's my biggest annoyances in no particular order: -Not being able to put food from the nutrient processer onto plates. I had to spend ages messing about with rocks and plants to make what loosely looks like food, onto plated for my Christmas base. Plus, we could make fancy cake and ice-cream kaleidoscopes. -I'm sick of the boring plates and cups; if we only have one choice, why not have a colour selection? -I'd really like it if FREE placement was actually free placement. I nearly went spare building my flying dragon base in 'free' placement. No wonder I use wire toggle mode so much. I wish you could green state a part and it would stay in place while you look from different angles with the build camera. AND you can select snap placement then while in green-state switch to free placement and the part stay in position so you can maneuver it's angle and rotation. -More moving base parts, please. I think most of the long-term players, love the building aspect NMS. I know, probably 60/40 respectively, some just do missions, come back in for the expeditions and barely build bases, where others, like me, love to build, explore and hunt for ships and multitools. I know a few people who love the creative and autonomous nature of NMS, and they hardly play anything else. -I think the developers should encourage those long term, NMS advocates by improving the building mechanics, adding more base parts, making some rare parts that we have to hunt for and please can they not cop out on new and rare ships to hunt just because of the ship customisation, which I have used once, not to mention the new expedition reward ships, one of which my friend Zinoviya named the hairdryer, XD. -More base parts allowed, and being able to do a collaborative build and work on it when the other person is not in game. This could be possible if a base computer could be registered to more than one player. any way, these are the things I've been planning to discus in Granny's Chinwag; I wish there was more time in the day. Cheers.
I just picked up NMS & pinning missions is impossible. Flat out. My objective changes itself LITERALLY every five minutes. What AAA title can't handle quest tracking? Absurd.
Yes exactly, it should basically be an extension of your characters body, with the same functionality, the fact that you have to jump in and out of the mech, almost makes it useless. I do find it’s good for fighting sentinels, but that’s pretty the use I have for the mech.
@ ok fair enough and to be honest I forgot about that, because on all my play throughs, I’ve got all of my characters maxed out on exo suite shield and environmental shielding, so it makes calling in my Minotaur, kind of pointless, just to collect storm crystals. Unfortunately, as I recall, on my Xbox, I have to use the X button to both, pickup the storm crystals and also to exit the vehicle/ Minotaur, so basically I end up accidentally exiting the vehicle when trying to pickup storm crystals. This is why I originally mentioned the only purpose I genuinely see as a use for the Minotaur is fighting sentinels. However if the developers were to incorporate the ability to scan, just as it would work when I’m not in the Minotaur and maybe remap some buttons so as not to use one button for almost everything the Minotaur does. Then maybe it would finally be an amazing vehicle to use for planetary exploration. Anyways, to each their own, I’m simply sharing my opinion based on over 2500 hours of gameplay in NMS, while also agreeing with the original commenters suggestion that scanning inside the Minotaur would be really good. Cheers
1: Let's add a Personal Nutrition Processor. Cooking currently involves a lot of sitting around and waiting. 2: Speaking of waiting, is there a point to refining or cooking taking time? Just make them instantaneous. 3: You can't use your visor from exocrafts. Changing that would instantly make them far more useful. 4: An easy way to stop the freighter battle freighter grinding is to just make the class on a given system always be same. 5: Pirate Dreadnought doesn't let the upper deck be colored. And it would be nice if there was more paint variants. 6: And it would be nice to be able to add decals to your freigher. Probably not doable without converting decals to vector graphics, but an Interloper can dream. 7: Exo-skiff doesn't protect from elements despite claiming to. And it would be nice if it had a nutrition processor included. And maybe be a bit more stable in a storm? 8: Make it so that the terrain edits inside a base building radius are permanent and won't revert. 9: Freighter corridors don't play nice with internal freighter walls, resulting in turns to a dead end. 10: Speaking of freighter walls, objects based on them tend to float in front of them. 11: If you have a room right at the edge of the buildable area, you'll need to rely on lag - point elsewhere, then to the wall and quickly tap the button before the game can update build validity - to place a window on it, otherwise it says the location is out of bounds. 12: And more freighter customization in general would be nice. I’ve always thought it would be nice to be able to pay to upgrade the freighter class, just like a space ship or multi tool. They could build this in to the freighters Center console on the bridge that allows you to, manage your fleet, perform other upgrades and purchase them as well.
This is a great community chat. So many great ideas and valid complaints. I will reiterate one that Steve mentioned during his, (wonderful) base tours. If there are too many Bases, Save Beacons and Comms Balls on a planet, it can become impossible to see Mission Way Points and more. I was attempting to Rescue Stranded Pilot and the only way to see the buried tech was to watch my scanner for range and approx. location and then dig big holes until I could actually see one. There are other frustrations with the mission way point scanner and markers, but that's enough.
The point isn't to reload the game to get another S-Class module, the point is to go to another star system to get one. You're not meant to upgrade your entire multitool at one space station. Most likely the behavior on the anomaly is wrong. My biggest gripe in the game is how I get kicked out of conversations I'm not done with. Let ME choose when a conversation is over.
Agree with everything you said Cap. Also a couple of things that I find immersion breaking/annoying and wish they could make more organic feeling is scripted events like the freighters warping in every time you drop out of pulsing in space and the 3 ships that fly over you when you're walking around on a planet.
@typo44 Takes time... its annoying.. it could be better... I say you can run away in the video... I don't say your Forced to fight... I say you only have one choice to defend the freighter... I would like 3 choices... 1. Side with pirates 2. Side with freighter 3. Decline both and gain normal ship controls. Please rewatch as it looks like your putting words out there. I simply didn't say or imply...
like the pinned comment says not many features interact with eachother and it makes the game feel disjointed also not enough mutiplayer features / syncing, fighting enemies with friends feels like you both are fighting different fights VR UI being locked to the camera would be a very awesome feature too also gas giants and fully water / lava planets, just being able to be stranded on a planet would add a ton of immersion to the game
Theres still so much that needs work and depth. Even after all these years of updates, its still as vast as an ocean and shallow as a puddle. There have been strides in the right direction though, just not sure how much more progress will be made.
I love these videos. You should do them more often. Depth is definitely something that needs work in nms. I still think planets need more work . Worlds Part 1 was a great start, but we need more to do on them. Like a POI overhaul
The first two are basically "I''m fed up of save scumming to work around game play elements I want to shortcut", I'd laugh if they 'fixed' those by stopping the save scumming from working. Fair do's on the other items though, its nonsense that the L3 Atlas is worth less than the L1 and L2 ones especially when you've got though the lore texts
Great vid as always. Here some priorities to me: - ground combat needs a monumental upgrade. Sure, it's better now, but aiming, shooting impact feedback is still terrible compared to every other first person game - space combat. It's way better than ground combat, but still too basic - press left stick to run. It has been a standards for decades. Why hasn't HG added the option yet? - different building layouts - huge interior areas to explore - manual landings - ability to pilot freighters. Basically the ability to use the freighter as ship, and the ship as shuttle
I would love to see a whole new PVP for example there should be a hotspot on the anomaly where you can go to a PVP Battleground type of thing on a planet. Have teams make a base raid bases stuff like that would be fun for PVP.. something new to No Man's sky and I guarantee you that would bring a lot of players
ONLY 5 !?!?! 😂😂😂 I could make a list like of 100+ but i try to limit it and balace across features -no UNDO BUTTON for building (and many other missing building features that are preety much standard since around 2006 in building games. Like marking multiple parts to move/rotate/copy/paste/delete/snap) - cant trade modules with players/friends. For console endgane players min-maxing ship or mt is ungodly boring and time consuming process. And sometimes only thing left to do. Give us back option to dupe modules to save bit of time or bring back module trading. So a PC friend can give me modules that i need or exchange modules while playing with friends in mp. - exosuit UI. slots could be arrange that no scrolling needed. No huge backpack model needed. Takes too much screen space + taken out item icon is too big and u often u missclick and misplace items in wrong slots. specialy anoying on consoles and gamepad controlls. - need real consequences for negative and positive reputation. Higher prices, closed shops, npc dont want to talk to us , closed teleporters, permament wanted lvl. Or positive perks. Better prices, more things to buy, better mission rewards, npc reinforcements while in battle etc. - Living ships NEED a refresh. Getting a living ship is a long process. Upgradeing it takes even longer for not so much satisfying effect. Atm Better just get interceptor that is FREE. Give Living Ships more unique perks. Healing damaged modules over time, immune to galaxy jump module damage, more weapons, more ship parts for look variety. Maybe even ship turning into adult form when upgraded to max slots ( the one that we got now still looks like a fresh hatchling still curled up keeping egg shape). More interactions with living ship..its a living thing after all. Txt messages like when interacting with pet, Peting the ship on ground or in space so it could hum me a melody.
My other pet peeve is the useless flashlight (or torch in the UK). We need night vision technology, especially for building. Sometimes a planet is SO dark, I may as well turn my monitor off.
Three of the expedition reward posters are still low-res. I've reported it five times. As for the freighter battles. There's a glitch: if you try to fly into the freighter during a battle, it disappears. Don't know how long that will last though.
Living frigate whaling is a tremendous idea. Freeing a frigate from some scummy hunters would be great. And if we chose to start hunting loving frigates ourselves. You could go white dark with it. You hear their sad whale songs. And then they start hunting you the way pirates do.
1. Legacy parts back in for freighter 2. Real freighter battles instead of random encounters 3. Make all expedition items available at some point for Quicksilver eliminating redux all the time. 4. Development of the Autophage storyline / Brood Mother Don't play on pc so some things I can't hack through the console even with a keyboard and mouse 5. Settlement with purpose other than rss and fighting off Sentinels
When it comes to the Freighters I use the emergency escape Warp. Brings you to the previous system that you will win and then you can just go back to the system that you want to go back into.
I would only add, Storage. Storage management. Good Lord. Otherwise, yes, agree. Exocraft piloting could be fun, but isn't for the most part, like Nautilus. Tonight, we met a fellow traveler at the anomaly, went with us to get some bones. We got along well, after mission, went to friends base, where I found, I could not 'give' him anything. WTF. Love this game, no doubt, but yeah. Thanks Capt.
A major annoyance for me is "ghost" ships. Sometimes, when you locate a crashed ordinary ship, or a Sentinel ship, it is not really there. You can see it, but not interact with it. You can actually walk through it. It's silly, and needs fixing.
One of my biggest gripe is with the controls. I play this on pc and im really not a fun of the "camera control direction" thing. On foot, this is fine. When you're in your vehicle, however, be it the exocrafts or even the starship, i just wish the keyboard is more involved than the mouse, you know. And i know some people dont have a problem with this so i wish HG at least gives the option to choose which you like. Also, space isn't really space. I jump out of my freighter in space and i... fall. That kind of breaks the immersion.
My number 1 annoyance: Painstakingly finding a 3 star or Outlaw dissonant system (especially a Red system), going through the rigmarole of obtaining an AI carrier fragment - only to have it unceremoniously redirect you to a completely different system (usually a crappy 1 star) that you had no intention of investigating in the first place. HG: If you don't want us to discover sentinels in a dissonant system - DON'T MAKE THEM DISSONANT IN THE FIRST PLACE.
How about when you port to a new system where there is a freighter fight and on top of what you said, being able to choose to support the pirates or save the ship, that hello games lets us scan the freighter first to see what it is before we start the fight...
I either use the bug and fly directly to the lead freighter into it's ship bay and the whole battle disappears, or I will just land on the space station. Either way, you do not have to engage. Having said that, the choice to join the pirates is a very good idea.
You don't need to return to the station before reloading. If you land in an NPC freighter but don't buy it, your position isn't saved, and you will respawn in your prior system.
why you can't buy more than one, is an old game mechanic, because we used to buy one tech module and build max 3 tech slots of this tech with the needed resources. That's why I still don't go to red systems to get cadmium today. I just buy different class A weapon upgrades for your starship. than I install them and remove them, so I get 125 cadmium from each. NMS is an old game and a lot of the storyline isn't up to date anymore to the new features. But why doesn't it change, because all changes are related to selling more copies of NMS. Today a game needs different labels to sell more copies. the change of spacestations in neon colors gives the label cyberpunk. the food system gives the label "real survival". Almost every survival game or games with this label added fishing and look now we can fish also in NMS. The more labels, the more change of getting more sold copies. This is also why there's so much going wrong in the game, they only develope to sell more copies. who cares about the old storyline? who cares about all the previous bugs which came back after the ... part 1 update? Not Hellogames, they want more sold copies of NMS. I bet they even don't play their own game anymore. Because otherwise they would see a lot of these problems.
You aren’t supposed to be able to buy more inventory than the vendors have. Ideally, the exploit of reloading would be corrected. Same goes for freighters. Complaining that exploiting is too inconvenient is crazy. I do agree that Atlas pass level 3 should be more meaningful. More cool things to find is what this game really needs. Exploring planets becomes obsolete way too quickly. Exploiting exacerbates this by allowing players to acquire things way too quickly and easily. NMS is about the journey not the destination, but many players want to skip the journey and then complain that the destination leaves them wanting.
@NMSUnity I didn't say how fast did I ???? If you save it in under 3 mins = S Class Save it 3 to 4mins = A Class Save it in 4 to 5mins = B Class Anything over 5 mins = C Class Meaning you will need an S Class fully kitted out Fighter to hit that under 3mins... You often don't agree with me...lol I think this is better than how we get our Wingmen to S-Class or our ships... just pay for it... What would you suggest ??? My other suggestion would be it upgrades after you install bulk heads and tech... the more modules you put in from derelicts you run the higher the class your freighter becomes... Or the more frigate missions your fleet completes your freighter goes up a Class say every 100 missions sent. The point of the video is... The way it is now sucks...and is annoying... How they fix it is up to them... I gave an example just off the top of my head how it could be better...
Dropping out of chat menu's after each choice made is annoying. I'd like an inventory showing all owned ships and then pick 4 or 5 favorites to appear in your freighter instead of random ones.
Or how about putting some mode of moving a fishing skiff, once it be launched? Very frustation-inducing to have to go swimming and then re-deploy further out on the same line, or even closer back to shore without this time-waster..
Me: *starts the game* Game: Welcome back, here's a freighter battle Me: No I just need Emeril Game: No, today we fight It's like the game is Spartacus every 2 seconds
"Aproximate Location" is my pet peeve. We can pinpoint an object from orbit to within ten feet with our current technology. It seems ridiculous to have to walk 500 units in a storm on mountainous terrain. Also when on a mission, you can't easily scan anything because of the redundant mission visor being activated. This just annoying, not helpful. If we could turn off approximate location, I bet everyone would.
Yes Yes I agree.... 1.It would be great if NPC'S do more like fight back at sentinels and pirates' and act like a player. 2. Building CAPS change, instead of one building cap for the whole game, It would be great to have a building cap for each system , that way we can build as much as we want. the way it is now it is discouraging, 3. the Bridge of every Freighter should be different not the same, cause it's boring. AND .... well another time.... THANKS CAPTAIN STEVE YOU ARE AWESOME... are you related to Captain James T Kurt .... anyways thanks again for you videos they are the best... I pray that God will keep you and your family SAFE..... LOVE from Canada .... 2025
Nms needs a like system line death stranding so when others visit your builds they can show it ..the main reason I fell off was I found if your not a youtuber with a following Noone will see what you make so what's the point
Even if the base computer had a guest book and rating system... that could work... sign in, leave your own base portal link so they can visit yours... rate their base... yeah...
I'm Sorry but NMS is like 90% Painful Repetition. Atlas passes grant access to secret areas in some abandoned terminals on Planets. HG need t stop drop the importance in Visuals and cosmetics and start concentrating on actual game play that's "not tedious and repetitive". HG are again 90% Visual obsessed and noone want's to play a boring tedious repetitive game that looks great but is utter crap to play. I d love to love NMS play it again but Its painful on the brain, it's so slow repetitive tedious n boring id rather self harm and re-install it. seriously id rather self harm than re-install No Mans Sky there's absolutely 0 to do worth while. some folk like repetition and tedium and cope with it but some folk are not that deeply wired up. but please HG stop the cosmetics and visuals it's every thing I despise in gaming skins cosmetics etc i usually make a point of never buy any game that consenrates on such crap. and actually do something worth while and skill and creatively challenging cos to be brutally honest I'm failing to see where any skill creative anything is going Unless the big secret is its all being out into "No Light No Fire" which we both know is actually the real reason NMS has been so lacking for so long and that's where all the real creative talent and skill has gone and the real reason were not seeing it in NMS the reason iv noticed something was wrong with NMS belie me the lack of talent in updates has been showing for over 1 year now NMS is like the yellow dog from the Old Stanley Streamer commercials... just dragging along like the yellow dog

It annoys that I can't scan things whilst piloting the Minotaur. I'll bet many players would use it more if you could.
Could say same for all exocraft to be honest. Harvesting plants too.

To add to this the anomaly doesn’t sell S or X class. So even if you bought 3 c class modules you’ve still go to search for S or X class.
Agree with everything you said Cap.
Also a couple of things that I find immersion breaking/annoying and wish they could make more organic feeling is scripted events like the freighters warping in every time you drop out of pulsing in space and the 3 ships that fly over you when you're walking around on a planet.
You CAN avoid the need to engage in any fight by simply running away. You NEVER are forced to fight.
@typo44 Takes time... its annoying.. it could be better... I say you can run away in the video...
I don't say your Forced to fight... I say you only have one choice to defend the freighter... I would like 3 choices...
1. Side with pirates
2. Side with freighter
3. Decline both and gain normal ship controls.
Please rewatch as it looks like your putting words out there. I simply didn't say or imply...
like the pinned comment says not many features interact with eachother and it makes the game feel disjointed
also not enough mutiplayer features / syncing, fighting enemies with friends feels like you both are fighting different fights
VR UI being locked to the camera would be a very awesome feature too
also gas giants and fully water / lava planets, just being able to be stranded on a planet would add a ton of immersion to the game
More than 5 different planetary POI's would be nice, some procedural elements at least.
Theres still so much that needs work and depth. Even after all these years of updates, its still as vast as an ocean and shallow as a puddle. There have been strides in the right direction though, just not sure how much more progress will be made.
Makes you wonder what Light No Fire will be like...
Here some priorities to me:
- ground combat needs a monumental upgrade. Sure, it's better now, but aiming, shooting impact feedback is still terrible compared to every other first person game
- space combat. It's way better than ground combat, but still too basic
- press left stick to run. It has been a standards for decades. Why hasn't HG added the option yet?
- different building layouts
- huge interior areas to explore
- manual landings
- ability to pilot freighters. Basically the ability to use the freighter as ship, and the ship as shuttle
My biggest gripe, is the lack of procedural experiences. Every encounter is hard coded and baked in.
I could make a list like of 100+ but i try to limit it and balace across features
-no UNDO BUTTON for building (and many other missing building features that are preety much standard since around 2006 in building games. Like marking multiple parts to move/rotate/copy/paste/delete/snap)
- cant trade modules with players/friends.
Txt messages like when interacting with pet,
Peting the ship on ground or in space so it could hum me a melody.
1. Legacy parts back in for freighter
2. Real freighter battles instead of random encounters
3. Make all expedition items available at some point for Quicksilver
eliminating redux all the time.
4. Development of the Autophage storyline / Brood Mother
Don't play on pc so some things I can't hack through the console even with a keyboard and mouse
You can simply use your boost to get away from freighter battles. After about 10 seconds, you're far enough away to use pulse drive.
@NoMansSkyResources if you have fully upgraded pulse engines you can... in a Hauler it's harder.... and can take far longer.
Ah that's good to know... it's been sometime, not had to do it all too recently... thank the Atlas... was painful when I did.
why you can't buy more than one, is an old game mechanic, because we used to buy one tech module and build max 3 tech slots of this tech with the needed resources.
Finally fix capes and actual things to discover and explore not a copy n paste universe
I don't agree with you on Freighters saving that basically making too easy might as well just let you pick your class.
@NMSUnity I didn't say how fast did I ????
If you save it in under 3 mins = S Class
Save it 3 to 4mins = A Class
Save it in 4 to 5mins = B Class
Anything over 5 mins = C Class
Meaning you will need an S Class fully kitted out Fighter to hit that under 3mins...
You often don't agree with me...lol
I think this is better than how we get our Wingmen to S-Class or our ships... just pay for it...
I gave an example just off the top of my head how it could be better...
abandon star system might change to purple star systems on worlds part 2
Dropping out of chat menu's after each choice made is annoying.
I'd like an inventory showing all owned ships and then pick 4 or 5 favorites to appear in your freighter instead of random ones.
Or how about putting some mode of moving a fishing skiff, once it be launched? Very frustation-inducing to have to go swimming and then re-deploy further out on the same line, or even closer back to shore without this time-waster..
It does move... very slowly... when on it, resuming and pointing where you want it... it then drifts there...
Me: *starts the game*
Game: Welcome back, here's a freighter battle
Me: No I just need Emeril
Game: No, today we fight
It's like the game is Spartacus every 2 seconds
"Aproximate Location" is my pet peeve. We can pinpoint an object from orbit to within ten feet with our current technology. It seems ridiculous to have to walk 500 units in a storm on mountainous terrain. Also when on a mission, you can't easily scan anything because of the redundant mission visor being activated. This just annoying, not helpful. If we could turn off approximate location, I bet everyone would.
I go into the Space Station to avoid combat with pirates.
@@johnmckown1267 yep... sometimes that works until you exit... sometimes I fly back in and do a reload to get shot of them.
Storms on planets.... too many, too frequent.
Nms needs a like system line death stranding so when others visit your builds they can show it ..the main reason I fell off was I found if your not a youtuber with a following Noone will see what you make so what's the point
Even if the base computer had a guest book and rating system... that could work... sign in, leave your own base portal link so they can visit yours... rate their base... yeah...
I wish my Station Override did something
@@DowntheRabbitHole0 Will do a video on missing things soon... that's one in the Top 5 for that.
@CaptainSteveVPT thanks Capt. Steve!
Lock current mission.
LOL!
