This scene is brilliant because it entirely mirrors Roy's first discovery of Devils Tower on his home railroad mock up and his silly little model. It is the exact same shot only now it is full scale. Brilliant.
This was the movie of my childhood. I have the OST and I'll now get it out and listen to it tomorrow at work. One of the best soundtracks ever for a movie. And the movie still is awesome all these years later.
I’d say the 80s were better. You got back to the future, Bill and Ted’s excellent adventure, Ghostbusters, breakfast club, Big, never ending story, beetlejuice, the goonies, ferris Bueller, the shining, dead poets Society, 16 candles, fast times at Ridgemont high, die hard, airplane, stand by me, full metal jacket, the list goes on for a very long time
The buildup to this scene is incredible. The first half of the movie is pretty slow-going, but it has to be to make the payoff so much better. I wish there were more movies like this.
I love the film to bits but if you actually look at the screen direction of where they are looking you'll notice that they look straight ahead on their window and the mountain (In relation to the road they stopped on) is actually to their left and beside them. They should really be looking out Roy's side window
I don't understand that when they brake and stare out of the windscreen they can only be looking at the earth mound. As when they exit the car and climb the ridge they really see Devils Tower. I know it's only a film. I still love this film since I first watched it in the eighties x
Amazing movie ! I've seen it dozens of times and I never get tired of seeing it! Why do they call it Devil's Tower? What does the devil have to do with the tower?

This has always stayed one of my favorite movies of all time and when I got to see Devils Tower in person when I was 8, it’s was insane.

The 1970’s was the best decade to be a kid at the movies.
Totally agree! 🙏

John-fucking-Williams. Nobody else like him.
The score is amazing!
Beautiful volcanic plug.

My favorite scene in the whole movie.
Unbelievable scene.
Back when Spielberg gave a shit about the quality of his films. Now just CGI the hell out of everything

The devil's in the details...
It wasn’t a big thing until this movie
Bend to devil's tower
