The vocalists name is Donovan Melero, and he's also the drummer. Will swan signed them to his record label blue swan records back in the day. Swancore is a nickname for the kind of melodic post-hardcore sound that DGD made famous and most of the bands that are a part of it are signed to that lable.
Bands like Hail The Sun, Stolas, Eidola, Royal Coda, Dance Gavin Dance, Secret Band, Wolf & Bear, Sianvar, etc. are under the "Swancore" genre! It's called Swancore because of the style being similar to Will Swan's, or Will Swan himself being involved with, most of the bands in this specific corner of the post-hardcore scene, either through his own label, Blue Swan Records, or through some of the other bigger players, like Rise Records, Equal Vision Records, and Esque Records.
You did my favorite hail the sun song! Awesome, I can listen to that whole album all day, no bad songs. You’re the only reactor that reacts to some of my favorite bands/songs growing up. There’s so many bands I’d like to recommend but I’m sure you’ve got a long backlog already. Nice reaction!
I believe they are known as Swancore. I honestly sat down and listened to their whole Wake album and it was all amazing. I also noticed, that any of their songs that say explicit, are bangers.
WAKE IS A MASTERPIECE HTS ARE GENIUS. "Repellent" from Secret Wars is super interesting too you'll like it. Relax / divide and Jane doe are slow songs from Wake . Swancore are all the associated acts of will Swan. Will swan is the founder of DGD and his record label blue swan records released WAKE. And Shane Gann does the screams in several songs in Wake and Elephantitis so there is 2 singers but donovan does growls , screams, and cleans now all himself in their most recent works. The guitarist Shane also has a band called SUFFERER which falls under the swancore genre that has some insane guitar tracking like this with even darker subject matter. Thanks for giving these great musicians exposure!
Stoked you're checking out a lot of these more "underrated" bands in the scene. "Spite" is one of my favs from this band. Not many channels check bands like these out, so I'm incredibly appreciative of the content. Love the vids and keep up the good work.
I was so excited to see that you reacted to this song! Wake is definitely their best album, in my opinion. However, their entire discography is fantastic.
Swancore refers to bands on Will Swans label (Blue Swan Records) that use a very technical, and often chaotic, playing style. Will is kind of the father of this genre since his name is in it i guess lol. Royal Coda is a another Swancore band you should check out, this is Kurts current band and Will is in it too. Numbing Agent is incredible one of my favorites by them.
Well it all makes sense now. How did I not put Swancore and Will Swan together?? XD That's crazy though. So, Will is much larger than just a DGD band member in that case. Awesome to know!
Their EP Elephantitis is I think their best most raw work. Wake is definitely my favorite LP from them. Sometimes Shane Gann one of their 2 guitarists will provide some harsh backing vocals on some tracks. I recommend Ow! (Splidao!) [I like it, Though] it's the opening track off Elephantitis!
@@carveking I’m just starting to get into Hail the Sun, my brother showed me them a few months back and I loved everything off Culture scars and their new singles so far, now I’m going back to Wake
Have you checked out the band Eidola yet? I would suggest checking out tetelestai by them. They're on Blue Swan Records and their lead singer is a touring member for DGD along with featuring on some songs and on Tree City Sessions 2
Absolutely. If he's listening to all of these bands, he's definitely going to hit Eidola soon and kick himself for not doing it sooner. Plus, there's a lot of evidence that we'll get a new album this year before their tour starts in the fall.
Awesome! Wake is a great album, hopefully you keep reacting to them, culture scars is my favorite album and the first album ive listened from them, brings back great 2016 vibes lol. All of their records can't miss and they're amazing live, keep the reactions coming.
Bro if you like the chill vibe, check out their song called relax/divide. Honestly you should check out wake in it’s entirety, so many twists and turns through out the entire album.
in regards to your comment about liking not knowing what they’re gonna do next, i suggest “eight ball coroners pocket”. they made it a point while writing it to not repeat any part of the song
It would be interesting for you to.go through their entire discography like you're doing with DGD. Every one of their records has a different sound/vibe and their constant growth is quite visible with each release. I highly recommend it.
Incredible band. I’d suggest the following tracks. relax/divide, ow! Splidao, testosyrannosaurus, dead messages, rolling out the red carpet, human target practice, and 1109.
A lot of Northern California acts have that “dance Gavin dance” quality. But will swan of DGD owns a record label that hail the sun is now signed to. But Will Swan Is also in another band called secret band with Donovan (who’s the singer and drummer of hail the sun) along with some other members from Stolas and I think one other group. The prog rock/math rock groups all have that similar DGD quality. Swan core is basically a subset of artists because basically everyone on his label has the sound you’re picking up on.
Hail the sun makes a lot of slow songs actually! Swancore is the bands the are inspired by dance gavin dance and generally signed by blue Swan records. Which is will swans record label. Hail the sun is one of the first
Everyone always talks about how HTS is swan core or post hardcore and then completely forget they're also pulling from math rock. Mathrock is the best 10/10

My favorite as well. Hes developing a pretty great music taste because of this channel. Im hoping he gets to bands like Eidola, Sianvar and Coletta
Keep em coming Chris. "Will They Blame Me If You Go Disappearing?"

Definitely check out Relax/Divide
4:21 that's why they're one of my favorite bands. Takes time to learn their songs.
I was so excited to see that you reacted to this song! Wake is definitely their best album, in my opinion. However, their entire discography is fantastic.

This band is amazing. I first heard this song a few months after the release.of this and fell in love with them

Highly recommend their EP Elephantitis, every song is absolutely amazing.

Yesss my dude! Hail the sun is my shiiit, keep em comin and I'll keep on supporting! :)
I still recommend Sianvar. Which will Swan plays guitars and Donovan hail the suns singer, does vocals.
Second this. Omniphobia is a great track if you want a music video to check out.
Yes ! More hail the sun, now you gotta react to stuff from Culture Scars
Wake is my favorite album! Culture scars is 2nd. They're great

The swan in swancore is a direct reference to will swan
I think the only thing that makes me love this song so much is the fact that it's just a retold story of that Amanda Knox Trial
React to their song paranoia next👍🏽
Bro if you like the chill vibe, check out their song called relax/divide. Honestly you should check out wake in it’s entirety, so many twists and turns through out the entire album.
😍😍😍😍😍

Check out Chelsea Park After Dark by Donovan Melero
You should react to some songs on their Secret Wars EP.
You should check the live shows.
Don is just ridiculous!
If you like the vocalist and like DGD you should check out Sianvar! A sort of supergroup within the SwanCore genre!
Please react to Bilmuri - Myfeelingshavefeelings
Hail the sun makes a lot of slow songs actually!
Swancore is the bands the are inspired by dance gavin dance and generally signed by blue Swan records. Which is will swans record label. Hail the sun is one of the first
Watch donovan drumming and singing to will they blame me if you go disappearing to make your brain explode
Check out hail the sun "secret wars" 💯
A day to remember has a new album, not very good but you should check out “last chance to dance” and “permanent”
Day 905 of asking for A Lot Like Birds- Tantrum
Tantrum is a masterpiece, a journey, and imo their best track. Im praying he reacts to the song ASAP
Everyone always talks about how HTS is swan core or post hardcore and then completely forget they're also pulling from math rock. Mathrock is the best 10/10
How come your bopping your head like it’s hiphop?
React to their song “Devotion Cuts” pls
and it’s just one vocalist
also, these dudes are way better than DGD
