2014 Celebrating Words Festival

Tía Chucha's Centro Cultural & Bookstore, the Northeast San Fernando Valley's leading center for literary, cultural and artistic expression, will present its ninth annual Celebrating Words Festival: Written, Performed and Sung.
Highlights include local recording artists, including the urban cumbia trio Viento Callejero; modern-day torch singer Irene Diaz, and banda/norteño singer El Gavilán con Banda. Notable poets featured are Alejandro Murguía, acting San Francisco Poet Laureate and Mayda del Valle, cast member of the Tony Award-winning Def Poetry Jam.
Saturday, May 17 from 1 pm to 7 pm at Ritchie Valens Park, 10731 Laurel Canyon Blvd, in Pacoima.
