    While I agree that a polar coaster would likely never happen at cedar point, I actually think it could fit into the parks lineup. Most polar coaster concepts were more like complex’s right? A polar coaster could have room for a drop tower and an observation tower (emphasis on the observation tower, after CP removed space spiral they could use a new one in my opinion)

    It's a tough pill to swallow but consider this, when Magnum reaches the end of it's operating life (probably sooner rather than later) CP calls Intamin and uses the plot of land to build "Magnum XL 500". It would probably extend north beyond where Magnum currently sits but this is totally doable. It would have a similar layout (just super sized) and in a tip of the hat to it's predecessor would still have a very airtime filled finale.

    • @RPKraul
      @RPKraul 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Intamin? Not a chance in hell. Intamin makes great rides for enthusiasts but not for parks. We already know how CF feels about them. And Hersheypark, if they were completely candid, might admit they’re none too happy, either. CF has had great luck with B&M. If CP are going to go big on their next major coaster-I’m not convinced this is where the park is going, but anyway-why not ask B&M to build something along the lines of Fury 325?

      Oh snap that would be sick. I love magnum like the next guy but it will die someday long from now. Kings Island did a tribute to the Bat, so I feel this is total feasible and awesome. But I do have to doubt that cedar point would build something that large anytime soon. It's not financially practical to do record breakers anymore.

    As cool as it would be, I’m pretty sure Tony Clark has already said CP has no interest in going any taller than Dragster ever again. The wind and weather out on the Point make it inhibitively difficult to make a ride that tall operate consistently

    • @chrismalinowski654
      @chrismalinowski654 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Wind would only be a factor if it was a launch lift like dragster. Why not a traditional lift hill?

    • @CLEsportsc
      @CLEsportsc 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you sure?

    • @joemarais7683
      @joemarais7683 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chrismalinowski654 Wind would be a major factor above 400 ft if the coaster would have any elements. The coaster would need to be designed to take elements with a speed variance due to wind where it can both easily navigate inversions and hills with the worst headwind, and not get too much speed from the worst tailwind to be too intense. Ensuring that kind of window on a coaster that's has no real world analog at the point is impossible.
      So unless you want a coaster that's a 2 minute lift hill, a drop then a break run, it's not happening there.

    I can’t imagine Cedar Point building a launched 500ft coaster with one launch. One of the issues with Top Thrill Dragster is the wind. Since this ride would be 100 feet taller, that would only amplify the issues. Maybe your idea of a booster launch could work, but I think there could be an amendment. Something I could maybe see working is if they mimicked something like Wicked at Lagoon with a launched vertical lift hill that quickly follows a short launch. This booster launch would begin as soon as the coaster track goes vertical.

    My favorite idea would be if CP would get rid of Corkscrew, Power Tower, and all the rides in that area, and build a 500 foot polar coaster. The polar coaster would go right where power tower is, and it would also include an observation deck and drop tower, right at the center of the park. The polar coaster can pay homage to corkscrew by going outside the tower area at the end of the ride and go along Corkscrew's course including the iconic double corkscrew. This has been my favorite idea since I first visited the park and while I think it's unlikely to happen, you never know with Cedar Point.

    Everyone knows Dragster is never reopening and its spot is by far the best spot for a new coaster, especially one you want to be the park’s marquee ride. Even before its accident it didn’t work half of the time. Like Son of Beast at Kings Island, despite the massive investment in both money and pride, the reasons to cut losses and get rid of it far outweigh the reasons to keep it at this point.

    I think that location 2 is the most likely out of the three. Number one didn’t make all that sense because of the amount of space around it, because of Steve, Gemini, dragster, and magnum. I think if they remove the maintenance building would go and be for a new Gci woodie not a 500 ft coaster. Number 3 like Brandon said, would take away two many trees and would make Millie’s drop look way different. But I like the 2nd one because of the possibilities of it like it could be a bunch of airtime hills Or a low to the ground coaster and be the gate to gatekeeper or something like that. But I think if we do see a 500 ft coaster it would probably be at kings island because of the winds of Lake Erie. If I had to place a bet the first 500 ft coaster will be for a while

Other than the Intamin Blitz, they usually haven't wanted Cedar Point to be a pioneer park for the last several decades. Just like with the RMC I-Box, Intamin Mega coaster and Intamin Accelerator, I see them letting other parks experiment for a while and then build a record breaker once the model had proven itself effective. I could see a mid tier Cedar Fair park or a Herschend park getting the first T-rex as either a hypercoaster or a giga and then if it is reliable Cedar Point would build one and want it to break some serious record, possibly even the height record.

I feel like it would do good with traffic. You just have Millennium force in that area near Rougarou, and it won't further clog up the back with the masterpieces or the front with the crowd favorite B&Ms. If this were an intamin, I'd love to see something like a double mosasaurus roll over the midway to replace the corkscrews, or they could leave them like Alton towers did.

    You're also right that #1 wouldn't really work. It's yucky back there and it needs to be cleaned up, but I don't think they would do it for a coaster. Option #2, the employees have it terrible enough as it is, that's the employee parking lot you would build in. It's bad enough having to park way out there and WALK all the way to the back if you're working in the back of the park. Option #3, yes; the removal trees would not be good. They are needed for shade and to make the area feel more "Frontier". Plus, people are still sad for losing their log ride, losing 2 more and having no water rides at all unless you go to CP Shores would make the families complain.

    If the mythical falcons flight is built in the next few years, I’ll happily go. That said as an Ohio resident I’d much prefer cedar point focus on quality over sheer height. Another giga would be fantastic. Or even something small and strong like VCstr and MVRck

    If Have A Few Ideas On Where Cedar Point Could Put A 500 Ft Ride

    2 Make A Coaster That Goes Through Another Like In Between Top Thrill Dragster

    I kind of agree but I feel like they will add a smaller coaster because they have been going crazy for years and I think they need to focus on the younger people visiting the park. But o think that the smaller coaster wouldn’t be expensive so I think that they would both be under construction on the same year or one would open and the other would start construction right after.

    Location #1 is the cedar Fair planning and design building it most likely wouldn't be moved as there is no more office space to move those people. Which is also why a lot of Cedar Fair corporate employees are moving to the Charlotte NC office. The main corporate office is all full as well 1st floor is all Corp IT 2nd floor is accounting and 3rd floor is executive there's just no where left to move them

    It should be noted that it is very well possible that Top Thrill Dragster is being moved/ and or being torn down. Given that, building the new worlds tallest coaster could replace it in the same spot being that it’s in the middle of the park and would be a staple to the parks progression.

    Cedar point already has a 100, 200, 300, 400 footer... if they build a 500 it's gonna be INSANE. (TTD is down, what if they add some extra bracing and a faster launch and make it 80 feet taller?)
    Kingda Ka is basically the same thing and it only needs 45 more feet.

    If anyone is going to build a 500 foot coaster, it would have to be the coaster capital of the world. But I've been hearing that there is 1 on the horizon in Japan. Time will tell

  • @williambabcoke248
    @williambabcoke248 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I find it unlikely that cedar point adds a 500 ft coaster. If they did I think it would be something like this:
    It would be a coaster in the same style as the polar coaster concept. A large tower with the roller coaster built on to it. The coaster itself would be manufactured by either gerslauer or zeirer and would feature a vertical lsm lift and 7-11 inversions.
    On top of the tower there would be a high end restaurant, giving great views of Lake Erie.
    And finally, the tallest drop tower in the world would also be built into the tower.
    I think that they could probably fit this sort of thing on Dragsters plot of land. To be honest, I think that this is the only way Cedar Point breaks 500 ft. They don't have a ton of space so I don't think they would blow a ton of it on a single attraction.

    while I like the idea of a 500+ you really need the space to enjoy the speed, and none of the locations are big enough. you have to look how big Millinium footprint is, and your talking probably 30mph faster. If you remove Gemini and Top Thrill, you might have enough space but it would make more sense to keep station near where top thrill is. Along the causeway could be cool, but I don't know if they own the land. I am thinking a near 100mph B&M standing around 380ft tall, and with the right elements it will be everyones #1. the one thing to point out you can interact with existing rides, especially if it keeps a low profile and utilizes tunnels. While I would like to think they would go at least 400ft to be first Tera..Orion didn't make it to 300ft and is still a good ride. The competition between Six Flags and Cedar Point isn't there anymore, and while I believe we are going to see amazing things from Busch Gardens/Sea World, They don't really compete with Cedar Point because of distance.. Also how tall does a T-Rex have to be to be awesome, I am thinking 250ft and its my #1..

    • @TP_Recommendations
      @TP_Recommendations  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I think a 250 ft tall would be a good guess for a T-rex.

    Comparing a 500 ft coaster to top thrill dragster just because it's the tallest in the park is not accurate. It would not be a coaster with that kind of launch since intamin has already retired it. If it has a launch it would use different technologies. I suspect it would be a cable lift. I also believe it's just a matter of time because whatever park pulls off a reliable 500 ft coaster will reap the benefits big time.

    As awesome as it'd be, I just don't think a 500 ft coaster is the best idea for CP business wise at this point. They've already solidified themselves in the minds of most people as the destination for record breaking coasters, and most of those people don't follow the industry to see the latest coasters, they just remember that Cedar Point is wild and that's all the marketing team needs to work with. Especially with the limited space left on the peninsula, I feel like rounding out the park with stuff such as dark rides and full-service restaurants to make it more of a resort destination would be better for the future of the park business-wise. Again, they are already known country-wide as the park that breaks all the records and has all the crazy coasters; the park has made their point, and I feel a 500 ft coaster just to continue proving what they already proved wouldn't be the best way to spend that much money

  • @texasbbq3191
    @texasbbq3191 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's too bad things are so expensive nowadays, they could build a monster in Dragster's spot. It would be cool to see a typical Giga layout but then a rolling into LSM launch up to a 500 foot top hat to pay homage to Dragster as a finale. They could market it as "is it a Giga or"? Whatever they end up calling a 500 foot tall ride.
    But, that's just me with my RCT or PC brain rolling.

    Location 1 seems too small unless your doing a shuttle or something way too similar to ttd. For something of that size the parking lot along the lake location seems more viable to host something like that. Thinking a silver star or hyperion situation, but i really don't think being next to the parking lot would be all that big of a deal. After all are you really looking out at the parking lot that much while riding gate keeper?

    A 500' coaster can go just about anywhere because it just scales differently, you're probably talking at least a 7,000' or 8,000' ride. Almost no matter what it's going to have to weave throughout other rides, paths and open areas so it's best not to be attached to the thought of a large contiguous plot of land.
