At 78, this song is bittersweet. The music of my generation brings tears and memories, my babies were small and I had a whole lifetime ahead of me. NOW!!! I only have a limited number of years left and I wonder where did my life go!!! I have 2 wonderful sons, 53 and 57. Eric married 33 years, a son and a daughter and 2 small g’sons. Ryan married 37 years, 3 daughters. A grandson and a granddaughter. His two oldest are his first cousins he adopted at 4 and 9. And then their youngest, their blessing, got by in vitro on the first try. She turned 21 yesterday and she and her husband have new baby girl, Adalia will be 2 weeks old on Thanksgiving. My family is my greatest treasure, I’m glad I’m alive to be able to participate in their lives. If only by text, messages, and telephone.

Robby Steinhardt was a classicial trained violinist. When he was young his family lived in Europe, he would play in orchestras. Before his death in 2021, he put out a CD called "Not in Kansas Anymore" which had many guest artists, notably Ian Anderson from Jethro Tull.

I heard him tell the story, apparently she came back three times to tell him that was a good song. The first two times he blew her off saying it’s not a song it’s just an exercise and the third time he listened and wrote the song. He also has said, “It’s not really a Kansas song. It doesn’t sound like anything else they’ve done.”

Please do The Wall by Kansas. The white-haired guitarist-Kerry Livgren-writes the profound lyrics in the classic Kansas songs. He’s a Christian now and his search for truth even when he was in the band is evident in his lyrics. He has a lot of Christian music output just as provocative as Kansas’ music with his band AD as well as his solo records. Check out two Christian songs he got Ronnie James Dio to sing called ‘Tge Mask Of The Great Deceiver’ and ‘To Live For The King’ from KL’s first post-Kansas band album called ‘Seeds Of Change’. He also wrote an autobiography describing his search for Christ and Christianity by the same title. He was led to Christ by another member of a different 70s band then KL led two more members of Kansas to Christ. It’s an inspiring read. ‘The Wall’ by Kansas and those two RJD songs are gems. Enjoy. God bless and Rock on!

GREAT reaction Steven!! I truly LOVE this song. It's so beautiful - and meaningful! When I was dating my girlfriend (now wife), she mastered this song on the guitar (she was really good with the finger picking style of playing!), with me singing...it was a wonderful, simpler time! Now 28 years later, so much has happened...friends and family have passed...back to dust. Time truly is fleeting...and precious!
Thanks for this. Cheers from Canada, eh!!

Back when they were touring this album for some reason Kansas NEVER played in Nebraska. I lived there so a buddy and I had to go to Red Rocks, CO (God's Cathedral). Very well worth the trip and a nice ride on a couple of Harleys with our girls. 600 miles round trip with roughly $1.00 gas
I've seen them since then with the new/replacement band members in Reno (former Harrah's outdoor venue) Still killin' it.

Great reaction as always! I'd love for you to react to a duet called "When I Said I Do" by Clint Black and Lisa Hartman Black. This song was written by Clint for his wife Lisa. They have been married for 33 years and have one daughter named Lili Pearl Black. Lili can sing as well and often comes out on stage with her parents to sing a song or a few! There is something so special about a duet... especially when the two voices blend so perfectly! This duet is so fabulous, you can really hear the love in their voices!
The second duet I'll suggest is "Easy Lover" by Phil Collins and Phillip Bailey. It has such an upbeat cadence and the drums in this one are insane! I thought it would be right up your alley! The music video for this song is awesome, too! If you can, react to the official video. Any live performances are almost always done with a different duet partner other than Phillip Bailey and it's just not the same!
Thanks for the great reactions and all you do for music! See you in the next one!

Yes...how fleeting life is, but also that, while we are important, we may not be as important as we make ourselves out to be, in the grand scale of the universe....certainly not in this physical, material world......that's what I get out of it.
This is a song even us old school rockers have been reflecting upon since it was released....with great reverence!
As far as your last point is concerned, with the depth and width of my thoughts and feelings, this can't be all there is......I have an eternal soul...I feel it and am in touch with it!

The guitar in this song started out as a finger picking exercise Kerry Livgren wrote for practice. The lyrics came at a time in Kerry's life when he was searching for meaning to life and all that goes with it. According to his biography it culminated one night when Kansas was on the road. In his hotel room there was a Gideon bible. He picked it up and started reading. Didn't stop till he finished the entire thing. That night he gave his life to Christ.

Interesting note: the lead guitarist of the rock band Kansas, Kerry Livgren, was a music teacher. The riff for "Dust in the Wind" originated as a finger exercise he used to practice guitar. Amen bro !
    This Life is a Vapor...
A Snap of the Finger .
Then , Forever is His Kingdom .
The doubtless Guarantee of Everlasting Life by simple childlike faith in Him for it , is the Bullseye ( John 3:16 & Ephesians 2:8-9 ) .
Nothing compares to the Free Gift .
Nothing more Beautiful nor consequential .

Every moment you spend with someone, could be the last time you do so. Treat them and the moment accordingly ✌️

A great song. The Point Of No Return album is fantastic. Kansas music is fabulous period. From this album I highly recommend the song Sparks Of The Tempest. 👍👍🤘🤘

This song is the only thing that kept Steve Walsh in the band at the time. He was about ready to quit the band, and Kerry Livgren asked him to sing this song before he quit. Kerry wrote it as one of the last songs recorded for the album. He created the rhythm out of a finger picking exercise he would do, and his wife said she loved the way it sounded and told him he should write something for it. He was a pretty new Christian at the time, which was driving him to have more spiritual messages in his music. That was one of the reasons Steve was going to leave the band. He didn't agree with the spiritual direction and wanted to go do his own thing. He ended up staying for two more albums. You really should check out Incomudro. This song doesn't have any drums in it, and you really should hear how talented Phil Ehart is! As a drummer, I know you'll appreciate his talent, especially in that song.

For a good laugh, you should see how the lyrics are used in Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure. “Dust, Wind, Dude…”.
