Have been following you guys as you are living our dream. We got as far as buying a Lagoon 470 10 years back, got as far as the Canaries. The boat was nearly new at the time, but we never felt safe in heavy seas due to the hull flexing and the terrible noise from where the woodwork met the hull. Then we met a delivery crew on a Lagoon 500, who reported similar issues, plus they noted piles of wood dust at the flex points. Then we met another owner with another 500 who could not get the forward windows to stay in place. That was it we sold the boat after only a year and went back to a monohull. Had this for 7 years, and we feel a lot safer when the going gets rough. Sad as we loved the idea of a Cat, just lost confidence in the build qualities.
Unless you only want to sail Caribbean and perhaps Mediterranean, people need to buy limited production, well built catamarans, that are not just flashy marina boats to impress the Jones's.

Lagoon is very aware of the problem. Their boats are known for bulkhead problems. I can't remember the channel name but a guy named Colin got one and has been fixing it on TH-cam. He's spoken to Lagoon and talked about other boats with the same problems.
I've been following you for a while now and I do not know you, but since the last episode, my thoughts have often ended up with you. Glad you landed and good luck with the repair. From Sweden
Greetings from the US Virgin Island of St. Croix. So glad to see you made it in one piece (literally) to the Seychelles! I can’t imagine the stress you were under with 2 littles on board. Speaking of littles, I’m a newly retired teacher with masters degree in early childhood education. I LOVED watching you lacing cereal w/ your daughter. That is a wonderful activity for a child her age. Of course as she grows and doesn’t want to eat the cereal (adorable), you can start to work on patterns! If you are ever in the US Virgin Islands, we would be happy to put all of you up at our place! We’ve got a private and newly renovated 2 bedroom apartment below our house available for all of you! Lots of room for the kids to run! Thanks for sharing your life!
I'm so glad you all made it to land safe and sound. Ben & Ashley I admire how you both manage to stay calm and positive when facing all these challenges.
Just a side comment... on the radio contact from the freighter. Commercial vessels are required to maintain a Radio Log as part of GMDSS. It's always weird to be asked those questions, but they'll typically get Vessel Name, orig port and destination, flag, and people on board as required by various regulations. Most contacts they don't bother to fill out the log, but because he first said "Safety Check" he was very likely putting it in his GMDSS Log (that's one of the categories). When we've had radio safety checks they've usually been from Navy / Coast Guard, etc. We did notice in South Africa they were a bit more rigorous in logging and safety checks, etc. But it is nice to know other seafarers are out there and actually standing watch!
So glad you all made it to port.. folks have been praying for your safe arrival particularly with the little bambinos... Time to watch the Parlay Revival videos on bulkhead repairs.... You were right to be weary of the "creep" who asked zu viele fragen on zu viele Leute am bord.... Lagoon has to be pissed .. they can't blame that your boat is "Hurricane Damaged" for the cracks on your vessel....
If you have followed "Sailing Parlay Revival" on YT and the bulk head issues they had and repaired. You may need to do the same, as it may be a Lagoon design problem. I know that the Lagoon manufacturers didn't like the posts posted by Colin. He even had another Lagoon sit on the hard next to him to learn how to repair the bulkhead issue. I wish you the best results.
They should be scared. Colin did two seasons on Below Deck Sailing the Bravo series. He is incredibly smart and talented, I would not want that bad publicity either.
I gathered from Colin’s more recent posts that Lagoon are now addressing the issue and repairing or giving repair specifications to owners. If they haven’t done so contacting Colin would I agree be a very good idea. I hope everything works out for you.
Watching the Parlay videos where Colin was dealing with Lagoon, it appeared obvious the Lagoon was (is?) nervous of the potential liability of the bulkhead issue. Yes, they have issued a “sort of” solution to the issue but have loaded it up with “qualifiers” to limit their financial exposure. It would not surprise me if they are dealing with individual owners with “non-disclosure agreements”. Yachting Monthly (which you can search for online), published this about the issue: "...Catamaran builder Lagoon is seeking to reassure owners of the Lagoon 450 following reports of forward bulkhead deformation. Lagoon, which is part of Groupe Beneteau, has stressed that no navigation or safety issues have been reported as a result of the fault...." So one supposes that having a boat falling apart during a trans-oceanic passage isn't really a safety issue!? Whether they accept responsibility (including financial) or not, at this point their credibility certainly seems to be in the toilet. In any case this is a massive public relations hit: I can't imagine people lining up to purchase a new (or used) Lagoon until this bulkhead issue gets sorted out. Meantime we can only hope that Ben and Ashley are able to get themselves into a good, SAFE sailboat for the remaining balance of their circumnavigation.
The fix from Lagoon is not a true fix, a quick easy fix, just a metal jacket to go around areas near the stress part of the bulkhead to strengthen that part only but not the entire boat is corrected and sound.
So happy to know you made it safely there!!! Kiddos are growing aooo fast and are both adorable. Hears hoping there isn't too much damage and that you get to get back out on the water soon. God bless and keep tou all 4 safe. From Tennessee Fan
You have the "Lagoon" disease! Bad fiberglassing of the bulkheads, so when the little fiberglassing that is cracks, the boat bend inwards. Check out TH-cam channel Parlay Revival and get in contact with Lagoon. Lagoon have admitted faulty productions of their boat. You have some serious work in front of you...... Hopefully the maker will assist with materials and maybe also covering of the labour cost, what do I know. There are a lot of Lagoons out there that have the same problems as you have discovered. Stay tuned, you do a good work and I love your channel!
glad you made it safe and sound. pretty hard not to think of worst case scenarios when you were still underway. nice to see smiles all around at the end. thnx for another dandy show.
OMG, another Lagoon with broken bulkheads. I have been a sub for about 2 years and I love your channel - the kids are just adorable. After watching your last several episodes concerning your boat I think you will have a bigger problem than you may think. I would make a few suggestions and observations that I hope will help and prepare you for what to expect. First please know that currently there are several hundred Lagoons that are having the same issue with broken bulkheads - this is a design flaw in the boat. I would recommend you contact Lagoon for assistance - they may or may not help. Next I would review the video's from Parley Revival as they had to completely demo and rebuild their bulkheads which took them over 9 months on the hard in Panama. They were the first ones to bring this issue to light. Colin had several friends help with the rebuild (free labor) and it still cost him almost 50K from what he has stated in his video's His boat was also deflecting almost 2 inches and his salon doors and windows would not close. Hopefully you have discovered the problems sooner than he did. Please reach out to him as he can save you time and money!!! I am not trying to be a "Debbie Downer" but you need to know what you may be up against. The good thing is that when you are finished your boat will be structurally better than the original build and very safe for your family. In closing the one thing you will need the most is labor to help you with this project as the wife will be busy with the kids and filming to keep your channel going. With that said I am a professional remodeler from the States and I would be willing to come to where ever you are - at my own expense - to assist you with this project as you are going to need lots of help. As I see it this is a call for all hands on deck! In any event and whatever you decide I will be watching and supporting you and your wonderful family in this time of trouble and I hope ALL your supporters will do the same. Stay safe, fair winds and calm seas. P.S. If you would like to chat just let me know on your next post and I will give you a call.

@@masaiwhite5933 Thanks so much, I can help them a bunch, but you can't sell it until you fix it. Lagoon's are still good boats once the defect is fixed.
Yea, what concerned me in this episode is the nonchalance at just bonding things together and trying to get to South Africa. That is like putting a patch on a firehose.
Lagoon is aware of the problem and they are sending kits to repair. I just saw this problem online day before yesterday and it's notorious with lagoons. I also heard and saw on TH-cam that people who have this problems lagoon will fix them. Best of luck to you and your family.
Glad u made it ,that's the problem with catamarans ,the stress based on their design ,whatever the cause ,the repairs aren't gonna be cheap ,I'd be calling Colin from Parley he's been thur this bulkhead separations
Try to tie a rope across the saloon / aft deck floor and see if the boat is bent. If so there are more bulkheads broken or not attached to deck and hull anymore. Same thing like at SV Parley revival. Lagoon 450
Surprised by the speed difference the Code 0 made. Our boat has a relatively small self tacking headsail. Have been considering a bowsprit for a few years, but you have convinced me to add one onto our old Lagoon 42 and setup a Code 0. We were in the Seychelles in the late 90's and had such a great time. La Digue was our favorite. Anchoring off a beautiful beaches with pink granite boulders making the headlands. Sandy walking trails leading away from the beach towards shops in the distance,. Have nothing but amazing memories from Seychelles. Hope all goes well with the bulkhead challenge and it is just a simple repair.
Gosh, I was worried about you guys! SO happy you're safe. Also glad Lagoon is assisting with technical advice. Your and other Lagoons must have caused reputational damage for the brand. Colin of Parlay Revival fixed his bulkheads so well that there are now absolutely zero screetching and scratching sounds coming from the boat. At least that is something to look forward to plus the added advantage that your boat should be solid once you're done with it. Hope to see you when you arrive in South Africa. Blessings from Cape Town. ❤🇿🇦
Perhaps you guys should get in contact with Colin from; Sailing Parlay Revival. They had exactly they same problem with their Lagoon 45. Apparently it's is a problem in the design.
gotta say ive been waiting to hear an update on the situation of your boat and your passage glad to hear that you guys managed to make it back into port with no serious issue on board its sad to know the work you guys are faced with in the coming days and weeks but i know you'll pull through.
Ugggg so sorry. We all knew the 450 had/has bulkhead issues but sucks to see on the 410 as well. On the plus side Parlay Revival has laid out the repair process for fixing the bulkhead failure. Not fun. But doable. I'm rooting for you guys!!
Check w Colin on parlay revival... He completely rebuilt a hurricane destroyed lagoon 45...he knows its construction....just a suggestion. He's also a boat engineer. Great guy & super helpful....
Good luck with the repairs. Lagoon should be VERY AWARE of your problem since you ate not the only boat with this. Take care of those little sweeties and fair winds.
There's a series of videos (Expedition Evans) on the restoration of a Beneteau Oceanis that had run aground where all the weaknesses in its construction are well shown. It's worth a peek.
Was a house pilot in the 80s even got my captain's papers back in the day, but in many years of sailing I've never ever seen the kind of problems with boats that are happening now it's pathetic the kind of quality or lack thereof is appalling. Too many people have died from their keel falling off. I'm just glad you guys are okay
Clearly a problem across the board with absolutely everything. Planned obsolescence. Offshoring manufacturing clearly plays into it too. The only thing that matters to companies is money money money. Yes, money is important, but without quality, what is the point?
@@midwestlakelife Money is important now, but reputation is important to continue getting money in 5+ years time, it seems many manufacturers have forgotten that (not just in boats) Reputation is what allows a manufacturer sell at a premium in years to come, it's hard to earn and easy to loose.
@@midwestlakelife Planned obsolesce is a myth: no one "plans" for their product to die, it just happens because of realities of cost/benefit. These boats are made for the charter industry. People buying them cheap know the associated risks they're taking, and are usually willing to pay for it putting a lot of hours of work on top of their investment.
@@daveBit15 You are right about the charter boats that people buy, and production boats are built cheap. This is a Lagoon, and the design is just faulty. They are offering to help fix it. Planned obsolescence is a real thing. I don't know if big items like yachts are affected by it, but I know that in smaller items we were taught to design it into our designs in college. It is a real thing!

I hope you guys read this. I am a naval architect and surveyor with 50 years experience of small craft both leisure and commercial and in all materials. My best advice is to contact your insurers and let them know what is happening. If no insurance, hire an accredited and experienced surveyor and a marine lawyer. This is no quick repair and the structural integrity of your boat is at serious risk. Do not take chances with the family and only let the builders repair the problem under supervision of your surveyor and lawyer. Best of luck to you all, you will need it with a problematic design and faulty construction techniques. The term I use is 'not fit for purpose'.
BEN, I know LARGE BOATS, This time when you take HER out of the water, MAKE SURE YOU BUILD A CRADLE to support all the weight evenly. Lighten HER as much as possible, BATTERIES, FUEL, WATER, ELECTRONICS, ANYTHING ELSE THAT HAS ANY WEIGHT ! I was the Captain of the "AZUMA", a retired Japanese Coast Guard Vessel 80 ft. length, The new owners, AGAINST MY WORD, tried to haul her using 2 cranes and slings, AGAINST MY WORD, the vessel is now a LANDFILL ! BEST of LUCK BEN & ASHLEY, YOU ALL are in my PRAYERS !🙏
Sarcastically speaking... I had a back and forth with SabertOOth last week about the haulout in Thailand being the culprit that caused these issues. He said he was a "world class, world renowned, sailboat racer, who knew everything" and, it was impossible for the static load of a haulout to cause damage like that. He said that poor design causes damage like that. I said the same thing about bad lifts during haulout and I was told absolutely not the case so be watching for him to reply to you as well... Anyway, when you truly spend years on the water and do it for weeks and months at a time without seeing land plus deal with the shipyards and haulout facilities, YOU KNOW THE TRUTH. The ABSOLUTE most dangerous time in a boats life is during haulout and one bad lift can absolutely destroy a vessel.
@@capttom7772 Probably a combination of bad lifts and bad rigging. A lot of these comments claim bad design but the famous boat/incident they all referenced (Colin from Sailing Parley) was a restored severely hurricane damaged boat. I’m not a naval architect or engineer but my first thought was similar to yours. Most of these TH-cam sailors are amateurs thinking they know more or understand better than they really do. Sailing Carly on the TH-cam channel has a lagoon and his boat come apart just like yours is doing it’s major repair and you should watch his TH-cam channel to see what your up against. This is a major problem. Lagoon manufacturer is aware of this problem and they should compensate you guys for this. I would be calling lagoon over in Europe right away. When you pull your boat out of the water it’s not gonna be straight, you will see if you watch sailing parlay revival video about this same exact problem. He repairs this problem start to finish. Make sure you fix your problem before heading to South Africa. The Mozambique channel is renowned for some of the most dangerous sailing conditions. Don't chance it!! We got belted by a big 4 day low on my C&N 55. She's very seaworthy but I couldn't imagine being in 10m seas and 50kn wind with a boat that is not in optimal condition! If you need contacts in Richards Bay let me know. Stay safe!!!

Hello! For catamaran repairs, I advise you to do them in Reunion Island, rather than in South Africa, because you will be able to find better professionals at a better price, especially if the boat was built in France.
Hopefully everything goes better than planned with the bulkhead issue!!! I’m definitely glad that you and your family made it safely to the seashells!!! Remember keep up all the hard work!!!

I just didn’t want to hear you are facing something huge when you just got back that there with these omg adorable babies! Here’s hoping for the best!!! And your positivity just beams like a ray of sunshine!!
Glad you guys made it safely, I agree South Africa best bet to fix the problem as much cheaper, but you can’t take the chance of sailing in those seas in the condition she’s in. Someone said in the comments you should contact Lagoon boats as this is a wide problem and they might be willing to do the work for free. Can’t wait to see the next video with news on your progress.
Good news. Glad you made port. Bet you'll be feeling lucky real soon. Separation occurs slowly sometimes and can happen quickly.....catastrophic. When they peel back the layers, you'll realize how long this has been going on. Obvious stuff. I'd say separation between hull and bridgedeck. The stars, obviously in your favor. You're docked and not hoping that someone heard your radio call. Get her fixed, sail on mate.
I trust insurance will cover the break at the lift in Thailand. You are the nicest couple. So relaxed and take stress in your side. It’s such a pleasure to watch your little family grow.
The older charter cats all have had structural challenges. So not a big surprise unfortunately. The charter quality mono hulls all trade interior volume for structural grid and keel mechanically tied to the grid. You step up to “performance ie owner hulls” and you find far more internal structural components and keels properly bolted to structure vs outer skins etc. charter Multi hulls suffer the splits.
Most of the catamarans on the market are made for rental ,to make them really blue water capable is a lot of work.keep in mind that by construction there is a lot of forces in play there,as the two hulls are not having the same effects at the same time in the waves.better buy one specifically made for ocean crossing,if the money is not here but a monohull wisely chosen
Sailing Parley Revival TH-cam had founded the same problema with the lagoon and had to do work on it. Recommend watching the channel and am sure you will get some orientation. Good luck 👍

With political problems kicking of in the Seychelles and on Sri Lanka theres probably a few vessels moving away ...the AIS being down perhapse concerned them ... Glad you made it to your safe harbour... Im not sure how your going to tension the hulls back together below. The rear bulkheads Tops in compression bottoms in tension.. check your standing rigging tension each side of the mast. 🤔 It may have slackened somewhat.🤞🏼

lagoon have come up with a solution for the bulkheads on the 450 i think it is, the one parley is on and its a stainless steel brace that is bolted together from each side sandwiching the bulk head and using epoxy to mould together for extra strength ,maybe they have some for your boat if not measure and have some crafted its the best and easiest solution , hope you get it sorted .

I live in St. Thomas✌🏼
Thanks!
I remember them saying in, I think it was, the episode before that they had spoken to Colin.
Been watching you guys for a while now... so glad u got there safe! was concerned for you. hope you get your bulkheads sorted.
glad you made it safe and sound.
pretty hard not to think of worst case scenarios when you were still underway.
nice to see smiles all around at the end.
thnx for another dandy show.
Cant get fairer than that offer. They would be wary yet mad if didnt take up offers of help. Its going to cost a fortune this will. Not sure i could face it myself.id want away from that brand altogether.
That is like putting a patch on a firehose.
i would have to agree with you. I think this looks and sounds like its time to get another boat.
@@music-man insurance companies should pay out, and collect there dues from Boat Manufacture.
I hope lagoon helps you get thru this.so happy your safe in port.wishing all of you the best❤️
Fair winds ⛵️
gotta say ive been waiting to hear an update on the situation of your boat and your passage glad to hear that you guys managed to make it back into port with no serious issue on board its sad to know the work you guys are faced with in the coming days and weeks but i know you'll pull through.
Ugggg so sorry. We all knew the 450 had/has bulkhead issues but sucks to see on the 410 as well. On the plus side Parlay Revival has laid out the repair process for fixing the bulkhead failure. Not fun. But doable. I'm rooting for you guys!!
I absolutely love your friend with the guitar playing that wonderful song Sail away with true life experience on the sea
GOOD NEWS YOU DID ARRIVED.... SO HURRY UP..... TAKE GOOD CARE.... FAIR WINDS AND MY KIND REGARDS..... 🌷🍾🥂 CHEERS.....
@@midwestlakelife Money is important now, but reputation is important to continue getting money in 5+ years time, it seems many manufacturers have forgotten that (not just in boats)
Reputation is what allows a manufacturer sell at a premium in years to come, it's hard to earn and easy to loose.
I suspect theses problems always existed with boats, in different forms, however information is just more readily available now.
I can't imagine the level of stress that the last few days of the passage had to have.
Living the dream and making memories!
Other folks have had issue with bulkheads on Lagoon Cats, both vloggers had extensive repair issues. Bulkheads separating.
SO happy you made......Colin of Parlay revival will be good experise forinsiteforproperrepair.......Love & Respect!!!!
Happy you made it to port.
Might be time to buy a big Bluewater monohull.
Much safer .
Monohulls are not safer. When they have major problems, their lead anchor takes them to the bottom and the crews aren't heard from again.
I rarely comment but have been subbed for years. Just glad you're all safe and sound (well - will get 'sound'!) and wishing you every blessing from the safety of my sofa. I really love your genuine attitudes and determination in all the ups and downs of life on 'Nahoa.'
so glad u made it safe..hopefully fixing them will help.so glad u r smart bout the other boats questions and yes the pirates r out there just waitn for pple like us..with honest anwsers..b careful..sum peps arent that nice..
Sorry to see you in this situation, for me the Hull is not compromised but the glue sticking the wood panel is gone don’t forget you were in tropical weather and glue has this weakness the humidity..Let us knows guys when you go for repairs…
Best
Toto
So glad you made it safely. If you can get to South Africa we can sort you out here. Greetings from Cape Town...SA
Mmmmm’ maybe not
@@jerrywilson589 YES ! AGREED !! I am also considering that maybe the SHROUDS were too tight and pulled the vessel apart when she was in rough seas.🤔
@@Designer-Jock Please elaborate
@@capttom7772 Probably a combination of bad lifts and bad rigging. A lot of these comments claim bad design but the famous boat/incident they all referenced (Colin from Sailing Parley) was a restored severely hurricane damaged boat. I’m not a naval architect or engineer but my first thought was similar to yours. Most of these TH-cam sailors are amateurs thinking they know more or understand better than they really do. Anything that flexes and has rigging needs to be constantly adjusted! These people only get the rigging checked every couple years?
Sigh of relief... Touch wood! I Kno all will be well!! As we all Kno the cruising community an supporter's of have a bond that's as tight as the strongest knot!! So glad you made it guys. I guess now the decision is do you keep it and spend the money and in all reality based on the problems Lagoon is having do you want too. Or is it time for another boat that will give you the peace of mind knowing you have little ones on board that will get you around the world safely. Much love to you both xxx
Good luck!
Arrrg!!! I've been worrying about you guys so much!! I've been waiting, holding my breath till this episode so I know you're all OK. Love ya'all! ✌🏼🤟🏼🙏🏼
This sums it up for many of your followers. Me included. Stay safe
I knew they were okay last week because they can't post a video from the middle of the Ocean. They had to have made it to these islands! That and their videos are probably weeks behind if not longer!
@@RiverWoods111Nothing I didn't already know but still has me worried, regardless of the facts.
Glad to see you again.. I hope all goes well with the haul out.. Just love you all thanks for taking the with you and thanks for all the hard work making videos for us all.. Peace and love you all Rolfie
Sailing Parlay Revival had major issues with there Lagoon 450s bulkheads. Colin documented the repair well and did a lot of consultation with Lagoon.
Good luck, hope you manage to get it all sorted very soon and it doesn't break the bank. You're such a lovely little family.
So glad you made it, and in great spirits!! The babies are so cute, stay strong, wish I could do something to help. Much Love from Oregon
Hello!
For catamaran repairs, I advise you to do them in Reunion Island, rather than in South Africa, because you will be able to find better professionals at a better price, especially if the boat was built in France.
I just love your family and your channel and look forward to watching how you treat people and each other ☺️
Hopefully everything goes better than planned with the bulkhead issue!!! I’m definitely glad that you and your family made it safely to the seashells!!! Remember keep up all the hard work!!!
I’m so happy that you guys reach Seychelles safe and I hope your boat will be fix early so you guys will continue sailing without that really stress problem.take always.I love watching your videos.God bless
I finally have time again to catch up on my favourite sailing channels but I admit it took me a few days to click on this one due to anxiety!! I just didn’t want to hear you are facing something huge when you just got back that there with these omg adorable babies!
Here’s hoping for the best!!!
And your positivity just beams like a ray of sunshine!!
Love Willa and Bodhi keeping it simple. Especially liked the well written song at the end of the video!
The best part of the vid was the song at the end! Hahaha! Too good. Cheers guys! Good luck figuring it all out.
Welcome to Africa Naoha , Love u guys , am sorry on all you going through with your boat , Sending u Love .
Van a tener un enorme trabajo. Espero no atrase sus planes.
You made it, man you've been on my mind. God bless you on the next steps.
Sure glad you made it. Very big project on your horizon.
Sailing Parley Revival TH-cam had founded the same problema with the lagoon and had to do work on it. Recommend watching the channel and am sure you will get some orientation. Good luck 👍
Look at channel sailing parlay, rebuilt bulk heads, they have advised on how they corrected the issue. Praying safe passage to a safe harbour ro get it fixed.
this is the 1st lagoon outside of the 450 (parlay revival) that I've seen have this problem. I can only hope that this is repairable, good luck.
You guys need to watch Parlay Revival's channel, their cat was doing the very same so they got to work and with help from the company(Lagoon) helping them, they repaired it. It was all over the sailing vlogs and I am surprised you did not pick up on it.
I’m glad your all safe now. You know the company that built your boat have plenty of money. If I was the owner of the company here is what I would do. I would fly in the necessary company crew to you and all the materials to fix your vessel 💯%. Yes I know it is out of warranty. I would not care about that. It is the right thing to do. Best wishes sent to you all. Thanks for sharing the adventure.
Time to open up the can of worms, So glad you are safe in port... Following... Love you All.
Prayers for your safe passage to safety and hopefully a place you can assess and repair the damages! Do you suppose your standing rig was too tight? So sad to see that your Home has been stressed. You are a Great Family and I have enjoyed following you in your multi adventure lives! Smiles yes even with your 20 ft mini boat home. Lots of Live and Prayers for you and Yours!
You guys are awesome. Just hang in there and try not to be discouraged. It’ll all work out I’m sure. Oh, and your two little babies are adorable BTW. Take comfort in those precious little smiles.
Total legends 🍻⛵ I'm still amazed how the tiny sailors are twin's but not the same age. Especially when Bo is laughing in the tub. Hugs from Texas sweeties 😎
Simply enjoy your humor and easy going natures. Love watching your episodes. From the Eastern Cape, South Africa
In the words of Jaws I‘d say "You’re gonna need a bigger boat“ ^^
Also kind of creepy the guy on the radio asking so many detailed questions but relieved that he got the message and said bye respectfully
Guy on radio sounds Filipino. Maritess blood is probably strong on that one. Genuinely thought he was concerned for the first part of the exchange, sans ais and all. The crew number question was definitely off.
I’m praying for you and your beautiful family to be safe, I’m enjoying watching your adventures and seeing your family grow. Thank you!
Safe travels and good on yous for remaining clam...things happen for a reason...and this is one of them...Hope you fix your boat,,,and find the answer..God Bless
Glad you’re safe Contact sailing parley and Lagoon is aware of the problems and are assisting with tech advice. Be safe love from 🇨🇦🍻 Cheers and fair winds
Definitely contact Sailing Parley. The guy worked tirelessly to fix the boat and made it his mission to get Lagoon to come to the party and acknowledge there may be a problem. Last time I viewed, they had negotiated for Lagoon's people to assess whether a boat (I think all 450s) had a problem and how it would be remediated.
You are only the ten thousandth person to say this.
Even owners of different catamaran builds have checked. They all having the same concerns and have said so via their own channels.
I’m glad that you guys made it to the Seychelles. Take a look at Sailing Parley Revival he has a Lagoon 450 and had very similar issues and repaired them.
And David Shih. Plus others. It's a major problem.
I saw your video about structural failure. Parlay Revival (youtube) had such a problem and documented all of the corrective work. I hope their videos help.
Looking forward for the repair for safe sailing.👍 from🇵🇭
Glad you made it, smiles back on those worried faces, hope it’s not to bad,
Thank goodness you had a safe journey. Hope the work will not be to extensive. We know there is a never ending list of projects on any boat. Cheers, S/V Cork ~
Love the rendition of "Sail West!" at the end.
Lagoons are just problems , but what can you do ,, you’ve just gotta fix it , l know what l’m not buying for my next boat ,
Good luck and smooth sailing
Good luck in the Seychelles I was there for 6 months, hard to get parts and not much for boat yards but I think they are better facilities than South Africa although I love SA and the people there. Seas can be high on the east coast so better you get repaired there in Seychelles first.
Yey thanks GOD finally you are all safe...welcome back.....always take care
Amazing Adventure as always 😁💯👍🏼👍🏼
Small remark : Parlay revival TH-cam channel had the same problem before and they fixed, hope you too & hope to see you soon in the water 🌊
And David Shih. Plus others. It's a major problem.
Have you spoke to sailing Parlay they had similar issues with their boat.
Designer flaw was determined by them For their lagoon
So glad you made it safely, take care, and good luck with the repairs.
Smiles abound it's great to see your taking it all in stride. What a great family and a great family adventure one day the kids will say mom and dad rock. Stay happy and safe everything else is what it is.
lagoon have come up with a solution for the bulkheads on the 450 i think it is, the one parley is on and its a stainless steel brace that is bolted together from each side sandwiching the bulk head and using epoxy to mould together for extra strength ,maybe they have some for your boat if not measure and have some crafted its the best and easiest solution , hope you get it sorted .
Behind the wood work is where the problem is. Please watch Parlay Revival; Collin did a series on his repairs. Quite extensive work. My best wishes for you all, take care.
brilliant observation
I hope you have the money and time to fix your boat , it will take 2 guys a year to fix !
Good to see you made it! All the best to you and your boat. And if someone asks how many people on board, tell them you are 11 or 15 guys from a US, a hunting and fishing club! Fair winds and following seas
Wat naar, en met twee kinderen is het best eng. Ik hoop dat jullie veilig aankomen. Wij denken aan jullie
Spent the last 7 days watching from your very first episode. Not sure if that original recommend was from "Gone With The Wynns" or "RR2", but here I am and I'm officially all caught up now. My family will be so happy to see my face again. ;)
Looking forward to your upcoming adventures!
Great to see you guys are safe... Aye on your ship, So amazing to have seen how your family has grown Ben, Ashley, Willa, and Bodie. Feed that lil mate.. Much love your Florida mates
Your mid deck has flexed. The two hills are bowing upwards and the mid deck has sagged. Parley and David all had this issue.
This is the same issue that Sailing Parlay had to fix. The Lagoon 450 for them. I think you have a Lagoon 410. I think you may have even mentioned Parlay and this issue months back. Stay safe and good luck. Lagoon should give you a new boat. (I posted before reading all the comments referring to Parly LOL)
There is a boat fibreglass repair shop in Mahe just next to Eden Island that may suit your needs.
