Unless the RB is taking a direct snap, they're usually starting further back than the QB-- which means they're more likely to get tackled for loss. The QB sneak is not new to football, it's been around as long as the game itself. The only "new" part is pushing the QB. In a 3rd and 1 (or goaline) situation, i'd rather take a guaranteed 1st down or TD, than risk a RB draw, curl in route, or screen not playing out the way I want it to. Worst case scenario it's now 4th and (not 1) and it's no longer an option. While I totally agree that if i'm a RB and you're not giving me one chance i'd be pissed, sure-- but QB sneaks are only an option ideally in 2 and 1 yard situations, so every play you take from that position has the potential to create a situation where you can't use it anymore. If i'm the RB, I want the ball yes, but if we lose that TD doesn't matter to me anymore and i'm not gonna go "we lost, but I least I got that TD, ya feel me?" If you're saying I don't wanna run the QB sneak / tush push / brotherly shove / wtf name you wanna give it in favor of giving the other players a chance to score points, then someone could argue you're trying to stat pad for the other player instead-- because you're taking an unnecessary risk just to give the RB, WR, TE, etc a chance to get a score. Take last night for example. Jalen throws a 2 yard pass to Saquon on 3rd and 3 trying to get the first and give Saquon an opportunity to score and go up 10 to ice the game. He drops it. It's now 4th and 3 they have to settle for a FG to extend their lead and force a TD from the other team. Even if you hand it off (which I wanted them to do, btw), what if it gets stuffed in the backfield? Now it's still 4th and 3, or 4th and 4. You know what had a higher probability of success? QB sneak for 1-2 yards, then do that shit again and ensure the chains move and you run the clock to 0 because the Falcons had no timeouts. Like... I hear what you sayin. I do, but nah. It's not about "getting the TD for Hurts," it's about "getting the TD by any means necessary" and your QB sneak that the rest of the league hasn't caught up to has the highest chance of success than any run or pass play from that distance. I'd argue the stat padding conversation is irrelevant because literally no one takes rushing TDs seriously in QBs and that's why when they talk about the best QBs, they talk primarily about throwing TDs to INTs and not total TDs. Literally an argument against Hurts his mvp year was that he threw 2X TDs and 9 INTs, and when people brought up that he had 36-38 total TDs it was like "that's not what we look at, etc etc. QBs get paid to throw the ball."

The eagles are stat padding everytime they choose to run their QB at the one yard line instead of the Stud Running Back in the backfield just like the Seahawks tried to pad Wilson's stats in the superbowl instead of giving the ball to beast mode at the one yard line
