GMs skills are underrated. Sure Michael Jordan was kinda right when saying the players have to do the heavy lifting, but at the end of his career he ended up mad, because his GM didn't make the decision he wanted. This era analyst call out the players for their entitled and sometimes childish moves, but that wouldn't be the case if the GMs were doing their job and not giving up against the slightest pressure. Today's players era are soft ok, but GMs are even worse. And another thing many people forget to mention, there's a difference between KD to Golden State and LeBron to Miami. Jerry West, an actual GM, who understood the game of basketball and already put the Shaq and Kobe Lakers together, was behind the first move. To some extent Pat Riley was supervising the Miami superteam too, but that was more of a players move than a GM move, the rest of super teams formed solely on player's will? They failed miserably. Steve Kerr and Stephen Curry are the beneficiaries of the good doing of Jerry West who often gets none of the credit. RIP the logo, he was an excellent NBA executive.
