Not a Leeds fan but love this series and the high sense of irony in the narrative. I played against John Sheridan at school when we were 12. Nicholas Witchell went from football reporter to Royal correspondent (easy life).

I remember Nick Witchell, on a TV quiz, referring to Maradona as that “Argentine Foot Baller” the split spelling is apt. There may have been several more T’s in there. He may have been that “Argentine Footttttt Baller”. Anyone who can pronounce it like that is not a person with natural affinity for the game. I imagine Witchell was straight into the Producers office on Monday morning and telling them “l do not do Footttt Ball and I do not do Barnssss Ley”. The hooliganism was probably a good grounding for covering the Royals though.

My first ever Leeds match was the Barnsley away game. I was a 12 year old boy and my dad took me as a birthday surprise. What I remember apart from the game was been penned in at the end of the game while rocks and cellotape balls with nails in rained down on the Leeds fans and police on horse back smashing man and boy with truncheons..Needless to say It put me off going anywhere near a football match till 1990, that's when I started going again cos I was older. I still carry the mental scars of that Oakwell game...brilliant vid yet again.

Stopping Lukic in the high street for money reminds me of that BBC clip from a few years back when an interviewer was asking people on the street in Liverpool if they remembered a particular FA Cup match between Liverpool and Everton in the 60's and one of the people they asked was an old feller who turned out to be Tommy Lawrence, the Liverpool GK who played in the game!

Brilliant again. How low we had sunk just 9 years after winning the league. A constant throughout the series has been the calamities of Kevin Hird. Back passing was an art form he never really mastered.

excellent as always..... that QPR game was the worst leeds game I've ever seen, and that's against some considerable competition. Couldn't stand venables then and he did sod all for us as a manager, overrated. Proud to say i was one of the mugs, sorry, die hards at the Shrewsbury game, shame i can't remember any of it. Can remember mcnab though even if he did only make 4 appearances, aint memories funny
