    Thank you so much for uploading this. BJ from Sherman Oaks (in the second half) is my grandma! When we found this, it made her day to get to see this episode that she hasn't seen since it aired! Thank you again. You have no idea how great this is for me and my family!

    Edie Adams was so talented! She was an actress, singer, (of popular songs, musicals and opera) and made many of her own clothes which were brilliant...

    Thank you for bringing back one of the first game shows I really enjoyed. I think it had a higher caliber of stars than T.V. game shows had ever seen at that time. That makes it somewhat historically significant.

    At almost each intro. Allen Luden looks so surprised at the audience,when they applaud him.
    When he speaks of Edie's return, he must have meant after ERNIE KOVACS death in a car accident in Jan. 1962. My Mom always talked about how it took her a long time to get over it. My parents watched Ernie & Edie religiously .

    The word "Chauffeur" comes up fairly often in this program. My 1st clue (cinch?) Is to say the word/clue "Driver" in a very haughty, British accented way… I think it would cinch it just about every time. (For extra credit, roll your Rs :-)

    Robert Stack in the Untouchables was my favorite TV serie in the 60’s. Unfortunately the Finnish TV banned it because of too much violence. Today that probably would be PG or something.

    I played it over and over again but I couldn't hear what the contestant said at approximately 5:03 (that people laughed so loudly at) (obviously he didn't give the correct word which was "Belly"). Did anybody else hear what he said? (It sounded like he said "ultimate").

    Thought Alexzander Graham Bell invented the telephone

    • @tirmyta
      @tirmyta ปีที่แล้ว

      From the Wikipedia entry for Don Ameche:
      In 1939, Ameche played the title character in The Story of Alexander Graham Bell (1939). It led to the use of the word "ameche" as juvenile slang for a telephone, as noted by Mike Kilen in the Iowa City Gazette (December 8, 1993): "The film prompted a generation to call people to the telephone with the phrase: 'You're wanted on the Ameche.'" Such an identity between Ameche and the telephone was forged, that in the 1940 film Go West, Groucho Marx proclaims, "Telephone? This is 1870, Don Ameche hasn't invented the telephone yet."

    Seriously crummy episode. Ugh! Ditsy Edie Adams giggling for NO reason at all (too many happy pills maybe?) and Robert Stark sitting there utterly lost like a deer on a highway at nighttime. Bad day to be on PW for the contestants who were trying to win some cash.
    Then, to make a bad episode even worse, the fawning A.L. invites the two ding-a-lings back someday. This one goes into the top Twenty WORST PW episodes. She was 100% better as a sales gal for cigars than she was as a game show guest.
