Love watching Sally Ann Howes and didn't know the other celebrity (although I'd heard of Mr. Ed)... But he's so funny! Great comedic timing and facial expressions. Thanks for posting!
I really enjoyed Alan Young's triple role in The Time Machine with Rod Taylor (1960). He would also appear in the remake with Guy Pearce (2002) in a cameo but the original was so much better. Also Sally Ann was lovely in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang especially on the music box. For those of U who have seen this movie you'll know what I'm talking about.
@@dariowiter3078 I know wiki's not always 100% accurate, but: "According to Lubin, Young was chosen for the lead role because he "just seemed like the sort of guy a horse would talk to." Burns' production company went bankrupt and was taken over by Filmways. It is possible George had a position there, but it's dicey saying he was an owner.
But what's really amazing is, even after accounting for inflation of the dollar, some household necessities were still just crazy cheap compared to today. A newspaper was $0.10, bread was $0.20, a bachelor's degree was around $2,000, a new car would be about $3,000, and average new house would be around $19,000. You could come onto some of these shows, like The Price is Right, and literally pay off your mortgage.
Alan Young was a jerk to the husky guy..he tried to shake Alan’s hand at one point and Young ignored him, and the guy noticed it. Young imho acted a bit like he’d rather be someplace else.
My God Sally Ann’s last partner Bill was incredibly dense. Knowsm you have to go try out for those game shows, and I can’t conceive how he was ever chosen. As a contestant he was as thick as a plank.
Maybe not as a first clue of course, but for a second or third clue for "Grind" I probably would have gone with "Coffee"... If the contestant said "Grounds" I think that would have been a form of the word and then hopefully the contestant would have gotten it right, with their one chance.
And that's the last time they used the word "Vibrator" . For those of you that think they didn't know the meaning of vibrator, ummm one clue was "Electric Horse" hahaha
Which one? There were two on the show that day. I assume you mean the host Allen Ludden. At least on this show he admitted that he flubbed too much to make it as an announcer. I wasn’t sure until now he had that much self awareness😁
Sally Ann was so beautiful here!!
I loved watching Alan Young in this show.
Two talented and classy actors
Mr Ed was so proud of seeing his owner Wilbur Post (played by Alan Young) on the show "Password." "Go Wilbur!" Lol.

I'm shocked that you knew about Mr Ed but you didn't know Alan Young's name. That's really strange.

At least after the third clue for "Dialect" I would have probably ventured to say "Regional…"
Me too. I was shouting it at the screen!
In just a few years from this broadcast, Sally Ann Howes would be working on filming Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Thanks for sharing this information !! I didn’t realize that was the same actress. 🦉
At 14:41 when Sally Ann Howes speaks in a non British accent 😝😂
Alan Young gives new meaning to the word horse whisperer.
Producer Arthur Lubin said that he cast Alan Young as the lead in "Mr. Ed" because he seemed like someone a horse would talk to.
That was George Burns who said that, as he was an owner of Filmways Productions.

Today is Sally Ann Howes' 88th birthday!
5rr@@@zzz's ß@s@ßez zee@ßs@s@ß sad@@😅😅😅😅😅
$500.00 in 1965 is equal to $4,118.17 in 2020.
Annual inflation over this period was 3.91%.
until the Vietnam war escalated and they started printing

"Vibrator" sure as hell didn't mean then what it means now.
Right? I had to look it up.😀
Oh, it meant that too. They just couldn't talk about that on TV.
Beautiful woman. Sally still alive ?
Alive and very well, living a quite retirement in West Palm Beach.
Was that Woody Allen that sneaked in as Sally Ann's last partner?
Truly Scrumptious meets Scrooge McDuck! Lol 😂😂😂😂
I think people were more innocent in those days.
Players, always, always use a synonym.
That expected baby would be 59years old now !!
Hopefully still alive and doing well.
Ahhh, another Leo baby I hope😋😎
The word dildo was coined in 1672, but I guess Password would have been run out of town if they used this in 1965 as a clue for "vibrator".

Alan can be so critical.

Wow. This got X-rated at the end.
$500 today will buy you a cup of coffee and a cup cake at star buck.
They didn’t get dialect because they don’t travel or associated with other people than themselves.
I believe you are missing an "S" in Miss Howes last name.

oops I'll have to fix that.
Poor Alan Young - all those years of playing straight man to an ass.
I like Mr. Ed! He seemed more intelligent that Alan Young's character!
An ass is a donkey, not a horse.
I think the Mister Ed short stories are superior to the show.
@poetcomic. You're such a moron! Mr Ed was a palomino horse- not an ass. An ass is a donkey- not a horse.
"Mr. Ed" is a horse, of course, of course. The short stories are humorous, too.
Did he mistake egress for egrets??
