Hi Simon, I hope you're well. I've just watched and enjoyed your video again. I could watch them all, over and over, no problem. I recently tried a Daystate Wolverine R bottle version in sub twelve. What a beautiful, well engineered, fantastic looking air rifle. The engineering and workings of the cocking lever, just out of this world. What a glorious piece of kit. I'm so glad they're british and built to that standard and tolerance. Best wishes, Ian.
@simon6ppc246 Hi Simon, I've just watched and enjoyed your video again, lol. When you clean your rifle, what do you do? Do you take the stock off and wipe it over with a damp rag? After watching a video, an American gentleman made, who'd worked at most of the major American gunmakers, I do what he advised. I wipe mine over, the stock, the action, the lot, with a rag with mineral oil soaked in. Mineral Oil is unscented baby oil. I'm thinking it will feed the wood and give the blueing a protective coat, too. I've done this for a while now and seems to work well. When I'm at home, handling my air rifles, I wear gloves, as I don't want the oils in my skin going on any blueing, etc. Do you agree? Do you do anything similar, as you've had far more experience than me and will have seen far more than I have. Best wishes, Ian.
Excellent as ever ,am I strange getting so much satisfaction from seeing those little feckers being dropped , hate them I do , keep up the good work and thanks for sharing
No need to justify clean and instant kills mate. Folks are told to stay away from the video if they don't like pest control. If they watch and comment on cruelty, then they've too much time on their hands.
Excellent marksmanship 👍 we use a Larsen trap then pop them off, except one time when I caught the decor magpie, then non of his mates came back, felt sorry for him and let him go 🥴
Nice work on the maggies mate , made me giggle a bit thought of the scene in saving private Ryan the sniper in the bell tower , but a great video and a pleasure to watch 🎯💥👍
Great video again. I have family over here in the US right now all the way from Clidebank Scotland. It will be close to 40 (100) here before they go back home
I really like watching you shoot the birds, I don't know why. Great video, great work & thanks a lot. That was a great photo at the end of your video. Ooh Rah!
Brilliant head shots. We could see the fallout of dust from the harvests, I take it that you're not effected by hay fever. I thought you had your face covered incase they recognised you from the TH-cam 🤣😆😂😂😆🤣😆🤣👍😷👍 Take care my friend.
Ye cheers dux, the reason i don't do them to long is when i look on my analytics it always says that people turn the videos off around the 7 minute mark so i think there is no point doing like a 20 minute one so i will try soon and see.
These birds remind me of something we have here in the States called a Grackle. I don’t think they are related, but they have the same mannerisms and cagey personalities. They don’t sit in one place for long, so you had better get a bead on them quickly or you lose your shot. Used to hunt them when I was a lad on my grandpops farm. Never had the luxury of head shots though. I usually only had a second or two to get a good shot off if I was lucky. It was a good day if I got one or two. Wished I’d had one of those Daystates when I was growing up!
Magpies are in the Corvidae family. Crows and Bluejays are their cousins here in the US. Of course we also have Magpies here as well in the Western states. Good shooting Simon!
Jackdaws are relentless in the cow shed on my permission. But the slightest movement and they are off, thankfully they never take long to return.Great shooting !!
Excellent sniping once again! Well done. I hate having my giuns get dirty like that, but it happens now and then. A little compressed air on the outside usually gets the crevices nice and clean.
Another great video. Your channel has motivated me to learn more about air rifles/pest control in the UK. Contrary to the emotionalists, you demonstrate ethical and humane practice.
Magpies have become a real plague in the countryside today and they have literally devastated the small bird population in the rural area where I have lived all my life.. This is due in no small part to the suppression of shooting in general and the reduction of organised shoots (and therefore Gamekeepers) both of which held the Magpie population in check. The woods, spinneys and hedgerows around where I live were once FULL of thousands of small birds of a wide variety of species (even though we had industrial farming and widespread used of pesticides back then which was supposed to damage wild bird health..) but one bird you barely ever saw was a Magpie.. Now those same fields, spinneys and hedgerows are silent, the mass clouds of Sparrows we used to see picking up spilled grain around harvest time are completely gone and all we ever see are Corvids (including hundreds of Magpies) Woodpigeons and the odd Blackbird or Robin, this is because the huge population explosion of Magpies can be seen every Spring systematically hopping through the bushes and hedgerows emptying out almost all of the small bird's nests as well as picking off wild-born gamebird chicks by the thousand.. So good on you for knocking a few over, they deserve it..
I hunted rats using a board with peanut butter on the end. Each rat would walk out to the end, get popped, fall into bucket, and the area was prepped for the next one.
Great video Simon and excellent shooting on the Maggie's, clean head shots are the best. Great numbers and they just couldn't figure out what was happening to their mates. Cheers brother
Brilliant shooting there Simon and what defo gave you the edge there was hide position what a perfect spot that is they don’t even suspect a thing. All the very best 👍🏻
I have one farm cat that follows me around on site; have to be careful when foxing over there because the sodding cats always lurking. Talking of things running of with your kills, I had a common Buzzard swoop in once and take a shot Maggi... incredible to see and managed to catch it on my mobile. Enjoy the good weather whilst it lasts.
You are exactly what is needed. These birds are the Ronnie and Reggie Cray's of the bird world. I have witnessed Magpies terrorizing not only my garden but everywhere there is a gain for them. I have seen them steeling eggs and chicks and ganging up on songbirds. Hunting them in packs using their cackling call to terrorize small birds. The collective pronoun for these murdering creatures is MOB. A mob of magpies. That says it all. For every one of these creatures you snuff out you increase the bird population in your area. Keep up the good work.
good work chap, How many song birds, Curlews, Oystercatchers etc etc eggs and chicks is that saved next spring...lots. Magpies are very clever and are able to exploit far more habitats than many of song birds and most certainly Curlews. Well done again !
I see the same in my garden Mike as soon as the magpies turn up every thing gets bullied and such but i can't legally touch them in my garden so i just have to just sit and watch them in action but out on the farms or moors i can legally shoot them so you can imagine my thoughts.
They are annoying little S#_+$, cackling first thing in the morning !! That was a pleasure to watch 😁 cheers Simon 👍🏴
Great shooting, great ethics. Thank you for sharing.
Cheers mate.

Thanks Steve, to be fair i thinks hundreds more seem to get the same satisfaction.
It's such a pleasure to watch you. I also love your shooting ethic. You take even the lives of pests the right way.
Thank you Brian.

Great video and commentary. Thanks for posting.

Excellent marksmanship 👍 we use a Larsen trap then pop them off, except one time when I caught the decor magpie, then non of his mates came back, felt sorry for him and let him go 🥴

Anyone who doesn't understand the need for pest control has never been pestered. Good clean, humane shooting.
Thanks Speccy

Another great video. Your channel has motivated me to learn more about air rifles/pest control in the UK. Contrary to the emotionalists, you demonstrate ethical and humane practice.
Ye nice one pal just stick by the law and you will be fine also doing where ever you go a big favour and saving lots of animals in the long run.

Another display of an expert environmentalist on point. Cool, calm and collected doing his job.
I love all songbirds but hate Magpies
Ye it seem quite a few of us think the same.
I hunted rats using a board with peanut butter on the end. Each rat would walk out to the end, get popped, fall into bucket, and the area was prepped for the next one.
Nice.
