      Surya, Alex was on fire that season. He was one of the league leading QB's. That team was simply loaded, much like the Denver Broncos last year, anyone at QB probably could have went deep into the playoffs. A smart QB like Alex would have probably won that SB.

      Better is a relative term. Physical ability no doubt Kapernick. IQ and ability to function as a NFL QB Smith blows him away. Guy is the "Game Manager" who consistently manages to win games.

    Alex Smith is the most vanilla quarterback ever. He's never thrown for more than 23 touchdowns or 3500 yards. But he's still better than Kaepernick.

    • @njyankeesfan
      @njyankeesfan 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      LifeOfTheParty He's never going to win a Super Bowl. He has very average attributes as a passer. He's not going to win games when he has to throw it in those situations. He's just good enough for the Chiefs and he was just good enough for the 49ers. Smith doesn't beat the Packers, Falcons, or nearly the Ravens the way Kaepernick did.

    • @njyankeesfan
      @njyankeesfan 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      LifeOfTheParty And against the Giants in the NFC title game he couldn't hit anyone besides Vernon Davis. And even if they won that game no chance he beats Brady

    Alex Smith just helped lead his team to a 12-4 Regular Season and the AFC West Title with the #2 seed in the AFC Playoffs. Kaepernick 'managed' his team to a 2-14 season and last place in the NFC West. Who is kidding who here? Of course Alex Smith is SUPERIOR. You can call him what you want, Game Manager, Vanilla, Checkdown Alex, whatever...His record speaks for itself. And not only is he a great and efficient Football Quarterback, he is good human being too. He's raising a family, and has a foundation that helps less advantaged kids get into college. The guy is a friggen saint.
    Listen, nobody is perfect, and he certainly has his faults, but football is a TEAM sport, so the comment about him only doing well because he has offensive weapons is frankly BS. Of course the guy is gonna thrive if he's surrounded with great players and coaching. DUH.
    GO CHIEFS!

    Powerful / successful people often have egos that grow as a result of their successes. When you climb the ladder of power...you think you are so good that you believe you don't need others. That is York vs. Harbough in a nutshell. It is a shame that it came to that, but both men had giant egos and somehow York was kept and Harbough was let go. Now look at this organization...one of the flag ship franchises in the league is in tatters. Shame.

    The chiefs giving up two 2nd round picks for smith seems like a steal right now compared how 49ers are going right now. Especially going from 2-14 to having two 11-5 seasons and a 9-7 season the last 3 years and winning a playoff game. I will take that over anything the 49ers got in the trade.

    Alex Smith is the most underappreciated quarterback in the history of the NFL. Yes he sucked his first 5 or 6 years in San Francisco, but nobody could've had success in that situation. He had a different offensive coordinator every year and didn't have weapons outside of Frank Gore. Once he finally got a good coach he flourished. They went from like 5-11 to 13-3 and probably would've gone to the Super Bowl if their punt returner didn't suck. They were on the same track the next year but he got hurt and never got his job back because Kaepernick played really well. Smith got dumped and shipped to KC where he again had a really good coach. They've made the playoffs 3 of his first 4 years there and are on track to make the playoffs this year. I know he doesn't put up great stats and doesn't take many shots, but I'd take him over a lot of the starting quarterbacks in the NFL. He wins games, and what else do you want?

    • @Transporter_Not_Statham
      @Transporter_Not_Statham 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Isaac Dunaway that year they played the Giants, the regular punt returner, Ted Ginn Jr. was injured, so they went with a kid named Williams who I think was a relative of Kenny Williams (GM of the Chicago White Sox baseball team)

  • @joshuariston2924
    @joshuariston2924 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Totally agree with you about Alex Smith. (Even though I don't agree with you on all of your views). People look back and always question if he was worth the #1 overall selection in 2005. Thus far, looking at his longevity and continual adaptation to do whatever it takes to play at the top of his game, he sure is.
    On another note, I believe the 49ers gave up on Alex Smith, and wanted to trade him, long before they did. Remember SF's JT O'Sullivan experiment? It's just a shame that Alex Smith had to play many years for a franchise that never appreciated him, even when he was winning. I am a Ravens fan. And if we had anything remotely related to Alex Smith in 2005, Baltimore would have supported him, just as we do Joe Flacco. My point is we rally behind QB's that put in the time, and hard work, and show they have what it takes. Even if they leave us. Like Vinny Testaverde.
    On a more related note, I think the San Francisco 49ers are going to struggle for a long time. Their roster is a mess. Kaepernick isn't their QB of the future. Chip Kelly is still only a band aid to the struggles of the 49ers organization, and very soon, he is going to be sitting at home, mulling what College head coaching jobs to take again. Biggest problem is ownership, they are quite controlling interest wise. Not for the likes of coaches like John Harbaugh or Jimmy Johnson. I think they are more set up for a coach like Nick Saban. The current Nick Saban.

    if we had our leader on offense going into that super bowl against the raven's, we would have won. Alex Smith does things on the field kap can't and never will do. He makes good decisions in the pocket, can read coverages, and he's mobile. Alex Smith is the ultimate game manager and will spread apart any defense. If there's one thing I will always hate harbaugh for, it's benching Alex Smith and running him out of town. Other than that I love and miss the guy.

      Alex had no receivers to pass to that day other than Vernon Davis, who had 2 long TD'S. Crabtree couldn't get open to save his life and the other receivers were Brett Swain and Joe Hastings, practice squad players. Swain dropped a key pass that would've gone for a lot of yards.

If he had sustained more drives to start, they wouldn't have fallen behind so quickly. Give him credit for coming back, but it doesn't matter because Jim's brother figured out how to finally defend the read option in the Superbowl, which is why we lost. They just tackled both the QB and the running back at the same time, regardless of who hands the ball off. After that game, the Giants and Ravens owned Harbaugh with Kaepernick starting.

    Long before Kaep's social justice warrior effort I thought he wasn't a very good field general. Yeah, he played well for Harbaugh but after that he regressed and then the injuries and surgeries came. Maybe his commitment to rehab wasn't good enough. We get to find out, he's the starter next week. Ball is in his hands.

    49ers with Kap went to a Superbowl and an NFC Championship game. What has Alex Smith done with the Chiefs?
    Half the 49ers were traded away or retired. That is out of the QB's control. They got rid of their winning coach. Again out of QB's control. Given some continuity Kap may have been more successful. We will never know cause Trent Baalke essentially imploded the team around Kap. Now their once vaunted defense is a joke.

    Kaepernick was teriffic at first, but got worse each season. In his final start for the 49ers, they were on their own 2 yard line, and the defense left Anquan Bolden completely uncovered before the snap. He was jumping up and down, saying "hey look at me, no one is covering me!" An easy 98 yard touchdown pass if Kaepernick throws him the ball. Instead, he hands off for a 1 yard gain. No excuse in the world for that, other than Kaepernick didn't even care.

    Yes Alex is a better QB than Kaepernick.. Alex doesnot throw down field pass 40 yds. Is it The offense that is designed that way or does Alex not have the arm strength? Does anyone discuss this openly?

    • @jamesb1988
      @jamesb1988 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      jaba ju Alex is really careful about turning the ball over, so that's why he doesn't go deep super frequently. His arm strength is mediocre due to a poorly managed shoulder separation that cost him most of 2007 and all of 2008. People always forget about that injury, which ironically turned Alex into a safe, reliable winner with excellent short/medium accuracy.

    • @robdela3632
      @robdela3632 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      After the giants took Davis out of the game Alex coudn't hit any of his receivers and was atrocious on 3rd down. Alex had a pretty stacked team as well so I don't know..... in retrospect yeah maybe it was the wrong move but at the time it felt like we needed more at qb to get us to the next level. Kap had a great team around him but he's also had some great individual performances as well. It's all good I'm over it now lol

    • @distprod
      @distprod 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Alex had a stacked defense...not offense. That was one of the most brutal defensive battles I have ever seen. Even the Giants and Eli Manning couldn't do jack against us until the very end. We had like 6 sacks or something. Do you remember who the receivers were outside of Vernon and Crabtree in that game? I do, because they were so appallingly bad. Joe Hastings and Brett Swain. How tf are you supposed to pass to practice squad receivers in an NFC Championship game? They didn't get any separation whatsoever, so he had nobody to pass to apart from Vernon, who he hit for a couple long bomb TD's. And then Kyle Williams was the one who fumbled away the game on some of the worst return mistakes I've ever seen. He faked a return that hit him in the knee, because he actually stepped towards the ball without catching it.

He is the definition of a vanilla Quarterback, he has never been a successful thrower and a decent at best athlete. Alex smith has and will never live up to his #1 Overall "potential" because all that Alex Smith is, is a disappointment. Chiefs can win the superbowl, and he'll be the reason that they don't lose, not the reason they win.

Kaepernick threw a deep ball into triple coverage to ed reed. kaepernick almost threw a pick 6 in the SB to carey Williams if williams could catch. kaepernick had vernon davis and randy moss in the redzone but chose to trow it to crabtree twice and still overthrew him

    If you do, don't wait a moment longer to start your new life in Jesus Christ. Remember, this prayer is not a magical formula. You are simply expressing your heart to God. Pray this with us:
    "Father, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from you. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward you. Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again. I believe that your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will for the rest of my life. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen."
    Prayer of Salvation - I've Prayed It; Now What?
    If you've prayed this prayer of salvation with true conviction and heart, you are now a follower of Jesus. This is a fact, whether or not you feel any different. Religious systems may have led you to believe that you should feel something - a warm glow, a tingle, or some other mystical experience. The fact is, you may, or you may not. If you have prayed the prayer of salvation and meant it, you are now a follower of Jesus. The Bible tells us that your eternal salvation is secure! "that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10:9).
    Welcome to the family of God! We encourage you now to find a local church where you can be baptized and grow in the knowledge of God through His Word, the Bible. www.allaboutgod.com
