I'm from NJ and I've been to almost every Jersey joint Dave's gone to (I won't go to Paterson, lol) and I have to say I was disappointed with his score for Squan Tavern because for me that is the best pizza out of all the Jersey pies. Squan Tavern, in the nice upper middle class, family oriented, ocean town of Manasquan NJ is the deal !
I get a plain pie sometimes but my favs are: A large with fresh garlic & anchovies or a large with extra sauce on top of the mozzarella (mutz -a- rel) and dots of ricotta (rigot).
Delicious!
Accompanied by a nice sweet red wine, ice cold Stella Artois or Coke!
Sometimes I'll order a pie from them for takeout and take it up to the inlet and sit and watch the boats come in and out from the ocean and with my windows down smelling the salt air. A nice time. 🤟🏻
I was there last night. Its our go to for Italian food and pizza. Definitely agree its higher than 7.6. I personally would go 8.2. We got 2 large plain for the table as an appetizer for our group. It's my favorite place to dine out.

manasquan is awesome. i worked a job there in the winter doing construction and i stopped at one of the big liquor stores. i told the guy i was looking for something cheap because i was hard up for cash. guy gave me a 6 pack and a bottle on the house . great town
