That owner is so humble. Even though he's the owner of a basically famous restaurant, he corrected Dave and said it's his dad's name on the sign. Such a wholesome dude.
Heard the emotion in his voice talking about being a working mans place. And showing the plaques. This guy is an absolute beauty. If I'm ever near philly this is where I'll be going. What a genuine guy
When you do, forget Dave's anti-roast pork shit. It's the best sandwich in Philly. But he's right that they also make one of the best cheesesteaks, too (Cafe Carmela is the top though if you're willing to drive out)

This video shows once again what i like the most about Pres - he treats everyone the same way. From Trump, famous athletes and movie stars, to working class people, and even 4 homeless guys on a bench. He never talks.down to anyone, always gives everyone a chance to say their opinion or tell a story. Yes, hes a Boston douche in lady clothes, and we all like to joke about him doing coke, but he also seems like an actually decent person.
Difference when you come from the mud and when u come from money. Humility is important when you’re self made, and I don’t even follow barstool (except when they’re in my city) but knowing his story his come up was all work. I agree tho, Dave seems genuine among other shit lol

@@beaucephus526 That was because of lebron being a partial owner though. Blaze is actually okay, dare I say good if you get the spicy marinara, and its always fresh and you can get a whole pie (essentially one persons worth) for $5-$8 so not very expensive.

My favorite videos with Dave is when he connects with the business owner. I find the best reviews he gives, are the folks that put their blood sweat and tears into the food. The backstories are always the best. And I love that I live in the pizza Capitol of the world

First time I went to John's he treated me just like he treated The Prez. This is what creates loyalty. Super sincere guy. We respect that here.
I had the chance to meet John when I went to philly, and he’s a great guy. Could tell I was a tourist, and he helped me out big time when I visited his restaurant. Didn’t have have another steak that was even comparable to his.
Dave is the type of guy to close the refrigerator door with his hip.

Not a barstool guy but as a philly transplant John's is the best cheesesteak I've had, and the roast pork is up there (if that's your cup of tea; my friend thinks it's the best sandwich). This amount of care and love makes me even more committed to my opinion. Cheers to Portnoy on his patience and fair shake.

I was just there. I don't think I will ever go to Philly and not stop there ever again. Got the Pork and the Cheese Steak. Loved both of them. Very easy place to get to also and plenty of parking nearby with a shopping center across the street.
The cheesesteak and roast pork sandwich is hands down two of the best sandwiches I have ever had. Can’t wait to eat this Saturday before the Phillies game.
Went there today and there was a table of guys crushing yuenglings with their sandwiches. A true working mans spot lol.

Thanks Dave for taking the time, this place is the absolute best!! My brother in law lived in Philly for a decade and for a couple years only a few blocks from this place. I’ve had over 20 of the locals “you got to try” cheese steaks and I gotta say, hands down John’s is tops!! We live in Ohio BUT if we are within 50 miles, it’s a guarantee,no time…. we make, it’s not a question.
That guy is awesome! All he wants to do is make people happy with his food. Love it! TRUE food/restaurant people are the best. Dave too, so down to earth, really enjoyed seeing this.
Dave, you need to get a folding Barstool chair so you can sit and enjoy the meal. What's the rush. Better for your digestion. Great video brother.

Loved this cheesesteak video!! Interaction with the family owning the business was great! Hope you do more cheesesteak reviews over time, def can't do them all week lol. Try Jim's on South Street, my go to since I was a kid. I always get just fried onions and extra cheese (wiz or american only). At Jim's or the next place you do try both variants that way to compare?

John is spot on. In my family it’s always been American, grilled/fried onion and that’s it. If you want, add ketchup for a little tang and acid to cut thru the fat. Meat should be shaved ribeye seasoned with salt and pepper. And he’s spot on about American, there’s something special about good white American cheese in terms of flavor and melt that makes a cheesesteak a cheesesteak in my opinion.
Def recommend you check out Leo’s as well. Another family run, award winning place with great steaks. I don’t think they even offer the cheese whiz shite!
I’ve never ordered wiz on my cheesesteak. As a little girl I always loved getting a pizza steak. Sooo good. That’s with marina, provolone or mozzarella, peppers and onions. (For those who have no idea wtf I’m talking about) My parents overnight me hoagies on occasion. Best parents in the world. Philadelphia LOVE ❤️ 🇺🇸
