  • I recently visited Woodland Cemetery in Dayton Ohio, where I was able to visit 15 famous graves. Some of the famous gravesites that I visited included the Wright Brothers, Erma Bombeck, Paul Laurence Dunbar and more. Thank you for watching the Whittdocs channel, and please subscribe for more!

I live in the suburbs of Dayton and people here always say “You can’t go a day without Dayton.” They say at least one thing you use every day in your life was invented in Dayton.

I was born in Dayton and raised in Kettering. This was one of my favorite places to visit. I spent some beautiful summer days wandering around and reading the markers, admiring the beautifully carved angels, the life size statues and feeding the ducks in the pond. Thanks for this reminder of days gone by.

Thank you for featuring Paul Lawrence Dunbar!... I don't live far from his home and walking down his cobblestone street near his former home is the closest feeling to the 1800.s

Watching Reds baseball with my grandpa, Santa at Rike's Department Store, Phil Donahue and the Dayton Daily News.I also remember listening to WHIO and going to the Blue Note Record Store. Very nice, thank you for the video. It is a very beautiful cemetery with so much history. I could have added to what you presented....lol...as far as facts....just teasing. Currently the original main gate and gatehouses of which you feature towards the end are being redone and preserved. On Woodland's website they have different links one can read for it's rich history, those who are famous and rest there, etc; etc;. Thy also present several walking tours each year.

I been going in and out of that cemetery , for years. We used to play in there as kids. I still , to.this day , go every year to put down flowers. It's very old and it's so big , you would get lost if you dont know your way around. That was a really good video , thank you . There is a small field trip , the people who work there , will take you to all them cool places of history.

Woodland is certainly beautiful and very big. I wish you'd gotten some footage of the huge hills and valleys and the crypts that are built into the hillsides. I'm not really complaining. Lol! I just grew up here and spent a lot of time in the cemetery as a teenager. It's difficult to show how large the place is unless you have a view from the air. I'm glad to find this on here because it is a beautiful place to visit and explore.
