People (especially op shops) love to have a go at resellers but op shops fail to realise they are resellers too as they are selling items that have been sold before.
I think you worded it quite well, Tory. The negative misconception about resellers is often quite frustrating. Also, I would like to add that quite a few resellers in the community are neurodivergant and find they are better suited to the reselling lifestyle rather than a regular job. I am far happier working 7 days a week rather than still working as a support worker / aged care worker.
I agree. Personally the way my brain works I am better working for myself for the most part. Even the small amount I work a day about four hours for an employer is proving hard at times.

As resellers we spend countless hours cleaning and polishing not to mention washing the clothes we sell because we can’t sell them as they are. Charity shops sell their items often in an undesirable state, therefore we have the added expense of cleaning and washing products which adds an extra cost to our all ready diminishing profit. I think people need to get off their high horse and stop with the reseller hate.

I am a much older git than you at 66. I sell for fun, small profits adds up, pays the bills. Love your content , attitude and philosophy on re-selling. O.K I'm a fan then.
Your reply to Bec was the funniest thing I’d heard in ages. This is what I love, your humour and your down to earth attitude. At the op shops I like to browse the bric-a-brac, for items of sentimental value for me, but I’m finding that some of those are too pricey these days too. I skip the clothes altogether especially for things for myself. My fixed income doesn’t go far enough, so that’s why I’m looking at selling some of my things on EBay. I’d love to see more videos like this one.
I know some of the pricing is ridiculous in some charity shops, I really think it’s because they are trying to make budget so they think if they price things higher it will be more achievable but I’ve worked in these shops for many years and no one has ever mentioned to me about pricing higher because of resellers that may come in the store, I’ve only ever heard watching the thrifting videos. Lots of good talking points on this one Uncle, good work. 👍
I am retired now from a highly stressful full time front line health professional job. I choose to sell part time on ebay because it has given me my sanity & life back, I work my hours, I enjoy having the time to socialise with friends and family, and it gives me a little money to help me live. I tell people I have an “online vintage store”. Sounds posh! I agree op shops are charging crazy prices now and I have noticed they don’t seem to have the patronage they used to have. Any given day, the few ops around me, if you go in anytime of the day, there are so few people in there now compared to one or two years ago. I also know of at least two of them that regularly pass on their “death piles” to Lifeline! Ops shops donating to other op shops because they can’t move their stock.
Op shops are also adding to the fast fashion industry I’ve had one complain about the donation of stuff from SHEIN and Kmart and other online cheap clothing homeware online retailers. But then I see them selling it for more than I can get it online for. There are some not as bad but they also say oh it’s the resellers making the prices go up. But aren’t op shops the resellers you get it for free 😂

A lot of what you say and the advice you give has resonated a lot with me. Even down to where you have talked about writing novels, which I'm also trying to do. Op shops have yearly budgets from management which keep going up. Don't blame the staff or the shop blame the greedy management of these companies masquerading as nonprofit!
Yes some people must think we are raking in the $$s selling a book for $10 😂. I mean our time is worth nothing right ?? Do they know how long it takes to pick those pesky stickers off books 😂.

I am always happy to show op shops, sold comps on eBay vs sale price. As much as I love savers, they have become more expensive in the last 6 months. Love your videos- keep them coming.

@@geelong-flipperyeah I’ve done a Darwin thrift,m and a couple of Thailand thrifts on my channel. Having savers so close makes it my go to store and it’s bloody great. Stop there after work nearly every night to get those extra $$$

I put my tin hat on, I think (they) trying get everyone on ADHD meds or medical cannabis. Easier to control.

It’s crazy what they charge now! There’s not many good places left if you’re really struggling to pay the bills. To corporate now 😢

We don’t have Savers in WA 😭. Lucky to have a few independent little opshops near me that are very fairly priced though.
