Oh little town of Bethlehem, how still we see thee lie Above thy deep and dreamless sleep the silent stars go by Yet in thy dark streets shineth, the everlasting light The hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight. For Christ is born of Mary, and gathered all above While mortals sleep the angels keep their watch of wondering love Oh morning stars together, proclaim thy holy birth. And praises sing to God the king, and peace to men on earth. Oh little town of Bethlehem, how still we see thee lie Above thy deep and dreamless sleep the silent stars go by Yet in thy dark streets shineth, the everlasting light The hopes and fears of all the years are met in thee tonight.

It's so easy to just write off the Gaither music projects as outdated Boomer gospel music with no flavor or originality until you actuslly give it a chance and then the quality is just undeniable. This is solid gold.
For the children of GOD people this is not just a Christmas song but an all year round song of the town that had the privilege to have our SAVIOR born there. Still blessed and encouraged in 2020 because my life is in HIS Hands.
I've been listening to Gaither music since I was like 5 and now I'm 22. There can never be another Gaither or his music and all those homecoming, bluegrass and country music. Ever. ♥♥
When did Wess and Reggie switch roles? When this band was formed, Reggie used to be the tenor and Wes the 2nd tenor. Isn't that right? But I enjoy hearing Wes sing tenor, I know he has the range
@@miguelmcfarlane670 I'm quite certain that Reggie sang 1st Tenor when he joined & Wes sang 2nd not the other way, Reggie took David Phelp's place. But he and Wes have been known to switch places at different songs. But my observation is that at a certain point their "official" roles were switched with Wes being the official 1st Tenor... though they would still play around with switching back and forth EDIT: I was just watching some recent videos and Reggie is back to first tenor lol. They may have only switched on songs like these because where high full voice belting was needed that Reggie was not as comfortable with
@@miguelmcfarlane670 Maybe you are right after all that Wes was always the first tenor. But the switching is what would make one think Reggie is the first tenor depending on what they watch. It happens on several videos
The Gaither vocal band been alway my favorite but to be honest with all the line ups is this one at the bottom. Michael, Mark, Wes, David and Bill...now that was the best line up ever
@@daryltracy7949 man...in what world could those 2 be better than David Phelps and Guy Penrod? They would need to be born again with 4 vocal chords to try to match them! Musical ear isn't your thing...huh?
Alright alright alright. IF this recording is what the video is showing, which I believe it is (correct me if I'm right @GaitherMusicTV). 1. 5 guys, 1 mic. That alone is nuts. 2. No autotune (Autotuning has to work with separate vocal tracks) a single mic is a single track. 3. Bass is from proximity effect, Gaither HAD to be close and then far from the mic to give the bass where needed. 4. Because if no autotune, that means that each guy is singing the exact pitch at the exact time necessary, WITH key changes timed perfectly. 5. Each guy has different tambre and needs eq'ing, which means the sound guy had to choose just the right EQ for 1 track, on top of compressing the vocals just right, not to mention the PLOSIVES! Well done and glory to God guys, beautifully done and beautifully mixed!
Thank You, very well done, I love the older versions of all Christmas songs, peace be with You All, have a blessed Christ B- Day ! peace be with You...

This is so tight and perfect. Each and every voice blends beautifully. I think I have never heard this song sung so beautifully! WOW!!! AND Bill at the end! Amazing!
@@JustinvdHeuvel Yeah, Bill has only gone really low (i.e. first octave) on a few occasions that I know of, e.g. Good Good News and When God's Chariot Comes.
Love this song, I've been to Israel many times, but my most memorable experience is when i rented Avis car going Bethlehem and the radio music started to play this song "O little town of Bethlehem" What a nostalgic feeling hearing this song right there n Bethlehem😃
It's June and the scorching sun is killing me , but as I'm listening to this blessed harmony I'm relaxed and am at peace now . Every day is a Christmas to me. Thank you Lord Jesus for blessing us all 😇
i wouldn't be surprise if David Phelps is still very much involve with the vocal arrangements behind the scenes ....He is a genius ...I heard Bill Gaither mention it on a recording once that David is the one predominantly responsible for these kind of arrangements ...The traditional Gaither vocal band didnt sound like this before ...When David Phelps arrived on the scene he brought another level of singing with him ...
The rendition in which Ann Downing features is exceptional , especially her voice.
This is the most beautiful version of the song I've ever heard
The harmony on "no ear may hear His coming but in this world of sin" at 1:26 is amazing
