    His explanation on stances is vital which most dojos today would just tell you to do them without too much information. ASJ is very methodical in his craft. Excellent video ASJ!!

    Power rangers still inspires me to this day. I grew up on the original 94-96 series and all the casts are real badass in real life. They really could do those moves like they did in the movie, no stuntman needed.

    watching this reminds me of when I started Tae Kwan Do at 11. Exactly how they taught it then. Very traditional, love it. Wish you could put this out on DVD or Blu Ray

    I started doing martial arts because I was getting picked because of my vison impairment but its because of martial arts I've begun to learn so much about self confidence, respect & more. Though I need to work on sparring overall I do my best to improve each time.

    Austin, I think you've earned a place in my books to be the voice of a new Disney Prince, because you're practically *Power Rangers* royalty. And I think you ought to also work as a martial arts instructor for maybe the next *John Wick* movie or something similar.

    Very Good Video. My Martial Arts is numbered due to the physical pain that I have. I guess getting old happens.
    I wouldn't change my life though. Listen to your parents kids. Take care of your body cause you'll feel it later.

    At 40.00 there is no way they can ever get the same spirit, dedication, talent that these three martial artists brought to Power Rangers. These days not even the acting is on par.

    Your triple round house kick is amazing! Growing up watching you as the Red Ranger in Mighty Morphin and Gold Zeo Ranger were amazing! They should have Jason the red ranger to kick Tommy the green ranger so hard that his Dragon 🐉 shield break! I love and respect all of the original mighty morphin power ranger! I grow watching mighty morphin power ranger and didn’t realize Mr. St John is also a Tae Kwon Do Master! Super admiring you for your skill!

    wow! this video really helped! I've been taking martial for four months now and I'm almost on my way to earning my yellow belt. however I was really interested in the taekwondo stuff because the martial arts dojo I go to does mixed martial arts. do you have any advice on becoming a good martial artist?

    • @AustinStJohnOfficialVideoPage

      Practice!! The more you practice, live by the Black Belt principles, and dig deep into the roots of the various martial arts themselves, the better you will be, not only as a martial artist, but as a person. - Mel.

    Hello asj it was awesome meeting you in houston! Anyways is any of this shotokan? And do all forms of karate share basics like these?

    • @AustinStJohnOfficialVideoPage
      @AustinStJohnOfficialVideoPage  10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Actually, it's more TaeKwanDo than Karate, but most of the basic stuff is similar, but not exactly the same across several different forms and styles. ~Sarge

      Austin St John Is it true the side thrust kick is the powerful kick in all of the traditional arts?

    • @AustinStJohnOfficialVideoPage
      @AustinStJohnOfficialVideoPage  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      edgar brown No, because every martial artist is different and some styles of martial arts perform certain moves differently. Sometimes this difference can lead to a more powerful move.
      So while the side kick might be powerful for some, a hook kick, axe kick, round kick, crescent kick or front kick might be more powerful for someone else.
      For me, my more powerful kicks are the round kick and hook kick. I can perform an accurate axe kick, but unless my opponent is a little shorter than me or I can turn it into a combo move that gives me a bit of lift, it's not an effective kick.
      As a martial artist, you will learn what 'fits' you better. While you need to practice all moves until they become second nature, the moves you are best at will find your way into most routines that you make for yourself. Just ensure that you practice everything and on both sides. It'll make you a more well-rounded martial artist. ~Mel.

      @edgar22452 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Austin St John Thanks for your opinion. I been practicing traditional martial arts for about 4 years. I notice my most powerful kick is the sidekick. Can u still kick head high like u use to sir?😉
