For the record, I came up with this idea weeks ago and have the community posts to prove it. It just so happened that Alex Meyers also made basically this same exact video lol. I was on vacation and didn't find out he made a video on Bunk'd until yesterday. Oh well. Hope you guys still enjoy.

@@DigiRangerScottThe format approaches are also different. Alex is far more jokey with animated caricatures of the characters (and clearly did not have an easy time growing up with how often rants to parents come up as jokes), and at times can seem more flippant than analytical. But he survived Riverdale with sanity mostly intact so kudos on that.

  • @jakobwhite730

Bunk’d was certainly an interesting show. Each individual season pretty much felt like a different show because of all the cast changes. Well, actually, the first two seasons had the same cast, and seasons 6 and 7 had the same cast. Also, you said you didn’t expect Peyton List to come back. She actually did come back in the first episode of season 5. You also said you didn’t think the Kikiwaka would be referenced after the first episode. There was actually an episode in season 1 where Ravi and Tiffany encounter the Kikiwaka and they try to prove to everyone that the Kikiwaka exists, and the Kikiwaka was in an episode in season 3 too. I think it would’ve been fine if Bunk’d got cancelled after season 2, to be honest. But I think the reason why they decided to make more seasons was because the show got really popular on Netflix. I don’t know that for sure though. This was another great video, keep it up 👍😊

The way I see it, Bunk'd has the same, more or less, character arc as SpongeBob and Teen Titans Go. They slowly but surely become the biggest show on the network with the biggest ratings (as far as cable at the time goes and especially on streaming) even in spite of a long flop era of bad episodes and bad seasons. Making a majority of viewers hate the show and even some diehard fans admitting that maybe the show should end. Instead, the channel not only floods the schedule with almost nothing but that show, they renew the show for more seasons enough times that it becomes the longest running show in the history of that channel. Making the haters hate the show even more and even pointing at it as a scapegoat for the channel's downfall. Even though that's the channel's own fault and not the fault of people who are just doing their jobs making a single tv show.
At least with Nick and Cartoon Network, they don't limit how long a show lasts, but Disney Channel used to enforce a 65 episode limit even with their most successful shows which is bad enough. But then, you think of all the shows that were more deserving of lasting 5+ seasons.
Lizzie McGuire (the original and the Disney+ revival)
    Wander Over Yonder
    Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes
    The Spectacular Spider-Man
    Sydney to the Max
    Motorcity
    Andi Mack
    Tron: Uprising
    Ultra Violet and Black Scorpion
    The Ghost and Molly McGee
    Secrets of Sulphur Springs
    The Owl House
    Kick Buttowski
    DuckTales
How sad is it that out of all those shows that could’ve lived long enough for us to watch its’ young characters graduate from high school (I know some characters from these shows didn’t go to school but still) the only one ended up being Raven’s Home where we got to see at least Booker graduate from high school because most of the cast members’ contracts were already up because the show lasted that long!?!?!
Even after they eventually redeem themselves with great episodes and even great seasons, many people look at the show as an example of Disney Channel's favoritism and neglect of shows that could've gotten that same respect.

The reason the show got less mean spirited and problematic was because Pamela Eells O’Connell, who’s made a career from this sense of humor from writing and producing The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, codeveloping and eventually show running The Suite Life on Deck and creating Jessie and Bunk’d, left the show along with the Ross siblings and other main characters in their last season except for Lou and the new kids. And the executive producers of GOOD shows, Good Luck Charlie and Andi Mack, were brought in to shepherd the show’s direction. Which is why some fans are extremely defensive about season 4 onwards. To them, it felt like the show earned all the season renewals.
Which sounds great but I’m not interested in catching up to it right now. I care about The Villains of Valley View getting renewed at some point. It’s the last decent narrative driven live action show from either Disney or Nickelodeon left and the only one that isn’t a spin-off nor sequel series. It wouldn’t be fair if they pulled the plug just because one actor is booked for another role that’s ultimately temporary.
I have read Disney Channel's subreddit discussing this, with a comment bringing up that she confirmed she has August all to herself. The only other live action kids show that’s had this long of a hiatus that I know of was The Bureau of Magical Things, which I watched and thought was pretty good but it’s from Australia and I don’t know any US kids network as patient as whatever channel that show was on.

Tbh, I liked Bunk'd at first when it was on Netflix, but the more I watched it and thought about it, it definitely felt like after the first or second season, I basically turned my brain off to watch it. So I'd it's it's alright, but definitely a one and done watch. I watched the first episode of season 6 on Netflix and I wasn't not that good, so I'm probably not gonna watch the rest of it, though I don't have a choice now cuz I canceled my Netflix subscription.

While I like the show, I also HATE the first episode. As someone who has watched every episode of Bunk'd, I can tell you that the pilot episode is the worst episode in the show. There are some other episodes of season 1 that are still pretty bad, but not nearly as bad as that one. And slowly but surely, the first season does improve a TINY bit. I think season 2 is also an improvement from season 1 - but again, the quality of season 2 is only slightly better than season 1. I think the storylines in season 2 are just a little bit more interesting/entertaining. However, I don't really like neither seasons 1 or 2 that much. I did like Emma and Xander's relationship - which yes, Emma and Xander actually become a couple and it actually is a significant plot line in the first two seasons. Believe it or not, their relationship gets WAY more development than Parker and Victoria's, despite the fact that they end up getting married lol. Anyways, while I did like the storyline with Emma and Xander's relationship, as well as the friendships that Lou had with Emma and Xander, I really didn't care that much for seasons 1 and 2. There are some good things about the first two seasons... but you also have to sit through a lot of mediocre and sometimes just really bad storylines as well. Season 3 is probably the weakest season of the show. I wouldn't say it's as atrociously bad like some of season 1 was and season 3 actually does a few things better than the first two seasons. But it also takes away the few good things that seasons 1 and 2 had as well and overall, season 3 is just a very boring season. The only great thing about season 3 is that we see how much Emma has developed as a character and that's about it.
When season 4 started and I realized that the Jessie characters would no longer be on the show, I actually didn't care about it. While I did like Jessie, I mainly liked the show because of Jessie herself and Bertram. I never cared that much about Emma, Zuri, Luke, or Ravi and the quality of the writing in the first three seasons didn't make me care that much more about them either. But also, the show was just so much better once the Rosses left, so the Rosses leaving didn't matter that much to me like it did to everyone else. Season 4 is definitely the best season of the show, with season 5 being the second best season. Season 4 and season 5 was when Lou was at her best as a character, they gave Lou more interesting and relatable storylines during those seasons. Destiny and Matteo, who originally were in season 3, became much better characters starting in season 4. And the new characters like Gwen, Noah, and Ava are definitely better than characters like Zuri, Tiffany, and Jorge from seasons 1 and 2. I also preferred the humor of the seasons 4-7 over the mean-spirited humor in the first three seasons.
Seasons 6 and 7, while not as good as seasons 4 and 5 in my opinion, were still good seasons and still were better than the first three seasons. Season 6 and 7 had some great aspects to them - Noah became the best and most hilarious character in season 6 and 7 - like seriously, his character improved SO much between season 5 and season 6. Destiny also became an even more amazing character in seasons 6 and 7 and Noah and Destiny's friendship in season 7 was the best too. I also like the wild west theme in seasons 6 and 7 and the new characters Jake, Bill, and Winnie were also good characters. Although, the second half of season 7 kinda disappointed me with a lot of storylines I just didn't care about - they really rushed Parker and Victoria as well as Lou and Ryder's relationships SO much and I'd honestly rather no romance than have two ships that were just incredibly rushed and ships where we barely got to see their relationship develop. Victoria, who marries Parker, was only in SIX episodes of the entire show, we barely get to see her character or get to know her as a character, and yet she still gets married to Parker??? And they actually had so much time to develop their relationship more, but they wasted so much time and just chose not to focus on their relationship despite the fact that they ended up getting married. Lou and Ryder surprisingly are a better ship than Parker and Victoria, despite being even more rushed, with Ryder only appearing in THREE episodes in the entire show. Again, I would've rather no romance if they just weren't going to do a great job with the ships.
Aside from that and a few other criticisms I have, seasons 6 and 7 overall were still good and seasons 4 through 7 are MUCH better than the first three seasons. People are just nostalgic about the first two seasons, that's why everyone thinks they are better. I'm sure most of the people who complain that the show got terrible after the Jessie characters left didn't even bother to watch any of the episodes after they left. I wish more people gave seasons 4-7 an actual chance and stop being biased because of their nostalgia and actually see how the writing in the show became so much better. You may wonder why I watched every season of the show. Well, I had been watching the show for years before that, but it wasn't until last year that I started appreciating the show a lot more. I was going through a difficult time in my life, but watching this show was pretty much the only thing that made me happy for a while. I know it sounds incredibly silly, but it's true. I became a huge fan of the show after that and I spent over a year being a big fan of the show, until the second half of season 7 aired and then I found myself a bit disappointed with some of the writing decisions. I don't consider myself a big fan of the show anymore because of that, but I still really like the show. The series finale is basically like the the season 3 and season 5 finales combined into one with a wedding added into it, so I don't think the series finale was the best way they could've ended the show. However, I don't think it was bad, I think it was just an okay episode. But overall, I still really like Bunk'd and appreciate the show for how much it improved during and after season 4. I have a lot of good memories with watching the show and I would've never had those memories had the show ended in season 3, so I'm glad that I was able to enjoy most of seasons 4 through 7 of the series. When it comes to this show, I could talk for hours, but this comment is already long enough lol. Thanks for making this video Mr. Nostalgia, I hope you'll have a great day!

My favorite characters used to be Lou and Parker, but I didn't like them as much during seasons 6 and 7. Noah and Destiny were DEFINITELY the best characters in the last two seasons. Noah is absolutely hilarious and he's such a fun character. And Destiny had so much character development, she went from only caring about pageants and fashion to becoming more passionate about saving the environment and activism/helping other people. And I can definitely relate to how much of a perfectionist she can be lol😂

I've BEEN saying that seasons 4-7 is better than the first three seasons, so I'm glad that both you and Alex Meyers are noticing how the quality in the series finale is much better than the pilot episode. I'm pretty sure that in a few years, people are going to recognize just how much better seasons 4-7 were. It really seems like the only reason people like the first three seasons more is because of nostalgia. I wish more people would realize how much better the writing is in the seasons where Lou becomes the main character, especially in seasons 4 and 5, because those seasons are the best seasons of the show in my opinion!

Bunk’d premiered when I was 17. I was already aged out of the typical audience for a show like this, but I still wound up watching multiple episodes from its first season here and there. Like Jessie, I found all of the characters and jokes to be absolutely insufferable. Just hateful joke after hateful joke.
Haha! The camp counselor is a sad, lonely woman. Haha! This character is stupid or unlikable! Haha! This character is gross and ugly! On and on and on and on and on.
I never thought I’d critique a children’s sitcom for its morals, but Jessie and Bunk’d are vicious in terms of how often they’re punching down, and I worry how these kind of jokes could impact the kids watching. I’m glad to hear by the series finale that Bunk’d had toned down these elements. There’s room for ‘edgy’ humor is kid’s shows, but the level of harsh interactions between the kids on these shows was seriously off putting.

This shows like odd squad. It goes through like three main cast changes. The Ross kids was not gonna lie the weakest part of the show. And then we have Ava and that crew which goes for the last part of Camp Kiki Waka. That was actually the best part in my opinion and then we have the final half which is Camp touc I think I might be saying that wrong and I that way you can just tell Disney was kind of like milking it but overall the characters fucking matured crazily which automatically gave it like a good ending so at this 21:01 when he says the latter half was better it most definitely was because the Ross kids, even though that they matured the jokes and shit was just so cringe and old and it just didn’t work but then season four up, which is without the Ross kids is great

If do you go off the deep end for a full retrospective then you should do a list of the ways Hazel harasses Xander. I find it hard to believe this was considered comedy even nine years ago. Even though Hazel isn’t validated in her position it’s still not behaviour you want kids, pre and early teens to mimic.
