GS3 is probably faster, since it runs on slicks rather than treaded tyres. Although if we were facing down RP968 and GS3 on equal tyres at somewhere like Road America my money would be on RP968.
@@Thee_Snow_Wolf surely there’s absolutely no way this thing is as fast as the rp968? That car is A1 GP pace, not far off modern F2 pace, it’s bonkers quick
@@napalmhotdog4365 The difference between slicks and street tyres is THAT large. At Brands Hatch Indy, slicks on a BTC touring car are worth at least 2.5 seconds. Along with having slicks it's also at least 100 kg lighter than RP968, while having around 2/3s the downforce of RP968. We also know somewhat know the pace of GS3. At Brands Hatch Indy it smashed the Time Attack record with a 44.1, in a test session. Then at an event, when the car was having gearbox issues, before retiring the car, they did a 43.4. I reckon GS3 can do Brands Indy in sub 40s. The Brands Indy record is a 38.0 set in a Benetton B197. The really impressive part of RP968s engineering was getting A1 GP pace on street tyres. Now with WTAC Pro Class going to slicks, the current SMSP lap record is going to get SMASHED.
@@slonjdmsupra Yes. Confirmed in the new 2023 regs, probably on the grounds of safety. Biggest tyre allowed is 340 mm wide and 710 mm tall. RP968 is probably going to be running a 290 mm wide 685 mm tall tyre, unless they add ballast for a bigger tyre.
Met olly a few times,worked on the chassis for the previous versions,i can tell you,olly is calm and fearless,a proper driver.
