You will love the hike!!! Make sure you get some solid sleep the night prior. I did this hike last month. Personally, if I were to do it again, I would hike Fuego the following morning rather than in the evening as you may have a better chance at not dealing with fog along with more volcanic activity. Pacaya is more active. I spent the night on the top with 2 kids and wife. Boom every 20 minutes. Guatemala great; cheap, interesting; lovely.

It was freezing!!! I can't recall temperatures but I used to live in San Francisco which was chilly but that high up was much much colder.
