    Just booked our hike! I've been watching countless videos on this hike and just wanna say - yours has been the best, most detailed one I've found! I was especially curious about the bathroom situation and I feel like NO ONE was showing it, so thank you for that haha.

      Not sure on the best time of year maybe check when the rainy season is but yes you can rent warm clothes with Wicho and Charlie’s they actually include some stuff your your so you won’t need to hire much but I’m not sure on other companies 😊

    Just wondering why your backpacks weighed so much. I guess 4 kg of it was water? We did the W trek in Chile and our packpacks were 19kgs for a 5 day trek

    • @MaxandJacqueline
      @MaxandJacqueline  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah we had about 4-5kg just of water, plus camera gear and batteries add a bit of weight too 😅 apart from that it was just food and clothes but I guess it all adds up especially as we didn’t have proper hiking packs, just our regular ones

    • @MaxandJacqueline
      @MaxandJacqueline  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh no we did not carry anything we didn’t need 😅 the hike is pretty steep so you don’t want any extra weight! We left our luggage at Wicho & Charlie’s the company we hiked with. You’re gonna absolutely love it! It’s still one of our favourite experiences 🤩

    • @MaxandJacqueline
      @MaxandJacqueline  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Alex thanks for checking out 2 videos 🙏🏻 Their recommendation was mostly to bring enough water. I'd say no more than 15kg as its super steep

    Hey Guys! Can you hike it up and stay overnight without a tour company? I believe you can but just wanna double check! Thanks 😁

    • @MaxandJacqueline
      @MaxandJacqueline  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We found mixed information online about this, I believe that you can but some online sources advise you need a guide, we didn't have camping equipment so it was better for us to take a tour that provided somewhere warm to sleep! There is a checkpoint when entering about 1/3 of the way up, so it would suck to be turned away there, maybe check with a local before you go to make sure🧡

      I am Guatemalan and would advise not to… we always hear a gringo went alone, got lost and found dead, rains and cold will kill you if you do not know the way

    • @neilmarshall3071
      @neilmarshall3071 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would only do that if you’ve walked it guided at least once. For two reasons, one just so you are familiar with it and two just for respect for the locals making a living from it.

    WHAT? I was in Antigua studying Spanish in 2009, and nobody was going up that volcano without an armed guard. In fact, just visiting the Cerro de La Cruz alone was a sketchy proposition. Everybody had their stories of random horrible violence even in Antigua (including broad daylight murder); you didn't stay out on the streets without great caution after dark. Hell when we up on Pacaya the ranger checking our permits gave me a long look like he wished he could take me someplace and demand a good ransom. Since when did Guatemala become safe?

    • @MaxandJacqueline
      @MaxandJacqueline  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well the world is a different place to 15 years ago. Over all Guatemala is relatively safe however there are still some dangerous places, Antigua was very safe and we felt very welcomed there 🧡

    • @edwardj3070
      @edwardj3070 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Wow. Then good for Guatemala. Wonder where they got the money to pay for more law enforcement. Unfortunately most of Latin America has become more chaotic and violent than 15 years ago, especially in wake of the pandemic. Thus the steady stream to the US border.

      Each to their own I guess. We don't travel with the necessary camping equipment so a tour was the best option for us and many other travellers ✌️
