@@kickstart3974 and this happened in Islam. Muhamed even claimed that he was demon possessed after his first revelation. It was kadisha, muhameds wife, trying to console him as he was trembling in terror, that told him he was a prophet. So all of Islam's faith is based on the testimony of a false witness. She wasn't there, there were no witnesses at all

Since the “Olive” thing at Bethel, I have been rethinking my 30 year charismatic affiliation. Your videos are really helping me to sort through this stuff. I’ve known for several years that something was “off” with the churches that I was a part of and heavily involved in. Now, I am seeking Truth in the word, and have been listening to a lot of your teaching. Thank you so much for your work. God bless.

That's what Islam claims happened. The Torah was given by God to Moses but got corrupted, so God had to send Jesus with the New Testament. That got corrupted so God had to send Muhammad with the Quran but THIS time made sure it was perfectly preserved and not corrupted by man (and anything translated from the Arabic is not considered the "Quran."). It's an old schtick of Satan's: here let me "improve" God's revelation (or let me explain what God REALLY meant!) Yes, different translations can choose different English words and expressions but they will not argely change the meaning overall, but anyone adding words not in the original Hebrew and Greek itself is not translating! He's creating new text!

@Dean Agnor I’m sorry. I see no *valid* rebuttals. Therein lies the difference. Simmons destroys the text. But this is no surprise, as it has been revealed he lies about his background and credentials. The man is corrupt. I definitely believe he was breathed on by an angel of light, however.

But the more life happens I've lost some friendships due to these very same subjects. The fear of God is where some are leaving. Listening to this encourages me to stay in my word and you have been gifted to discern truth from a lie. Same spirit that works in all believers. So thank you for your channel. Someone who actually is caught up in this and comes to your videos won't click away. In contrast, other people who make these videos may have caused that same person to click away due to the name calling and/or talking down on people.

Oh so similar to the claims of one Joseph Smith, founder of the LDS,/ Mormon church.
He also re wrote the Bible under 'spiritual guidance',
as did the Watchtower society (Jehovah's witnesses).
They both produced their own ' 'corrected' (and corrupted) versions.
Interestingly, Joseph Smith accused the early Christians of deliberately corrupting the Holy Bible, both he and particularly early Mormon leaders were virulently anti Christian.
He produced the book of Mormon, he proclaimed it to be 'the most correct book on earth', (Including the Bible),' and if that wasn't clear enough, their 8th Article of faith states that the Bible cannot be fully trusted.
An interesting video, and as far as the 'passion Bible' goes, simply more of the same, an attack on the integrity of the word of God, the Bible, therefore an attack on Jesus Christ himself and his followers.
    Kind regards to all.

Meliodas I was in a signs-n-miracles r’ us church. God isn’t a liar. He doesn’t lie to us. If, in His Word, He says his Word is complete and that it shouldn’t be added to or subtracted from, I think we can trust Him that He is not misleading us and the He does not whimsically change his mind, as men do. The “Trinity” would not go into a guy’s bedroom and ask him to write a different “Bible”.

In addition to being deceived, does anyone have ideas on why online bibles would even consider using TPT when so many other accountable translations are available? For example, does BibleGateway or LifeChurch get paid to make TP so-called Translation available online?

Thank you, Pastor Mike, for the truth about the Passion “translation.” It’s very troubling to me but I’m not surprised that something like this would be introduced. The Bible says a time would come when people wouldn’t endure sound doctrine (2 Timothy 4:3).
It’s troubling to me that the writer for the Passion would call himself an apostle. We need to be like the church at Ephesus where they didn’t put put up with false doctrine. Revelation 2:2 - “I know your deeds and your toil and perseverance, and that you cannot tolerate evil men, and you put to the test those who call themselves apostles, and they are not, and you found them to be false;” (NASB 95).
This guy is adding and taking away from the Bible and there are many warnings from the Lord about that including Revelation 22:18-19 - “I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues which are written in this book; and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the tree of life and from the holy city, which are written in this book.” Again, Revelation is not the only book that gives this warning. This guy is in serious danger here.
I don’t believe we have any new revelations from God because the cannon of Scripture is closed. I do believe some portions of Scripture are clearer to us today as we near the end of the age.
I like the ESV but my personal preference is the NASB. Speaking of that translation, I want to make a correction in your “Bible Translations: the good, the bad, the ugly.” You mentioned the NASB was introduced in 1995. That was an update. The first complete NASB was 1971 along with four updates with the last update in 1977. For many years it remained that way until the update in 1995. However, unlike the discontinued 1984 NIV, the NASB 1977 is still available. I own a NASB 1977 and two copies of the 1995 edition. I heard that a NASB 2020 will be released next year. I briefly looked at it and I’m not impressed. Thankfully the NASB 1977 & 1995 will still be available.
I think the Passion is beyond “ugly.”
Thank you again for the truth and may the Lord continue to bless you for proclaiming the truth.

So many don't have a problem with this Bible or his teachings, even after learning all this information.
Many Christians ( "Christians") are drawn to this "extra revelation" stuff because it's easier. Actually reading/studying the Bible takes time and effort. I have been shocked to learn how biblically illiterate many Christians are. Outside of their favorite comfort verses and whatever bits & pieces they get from pre-made Bible study booklets or hear in sermonettes at church, they don't seem to know the basic theology of their own religion. That's why they fall for things like this, and even get angry when it's called out.
Don't get me started on the, "But God still speaks to people today and who are we to say otherwise? We don't know their hearts" routine. I'll be here all day.

Q: Hey Pastor Mike. I was wondering about your comment about 2 Timothy 3:16-17. You mentioned that the authors were inspired and not the words. Isn't the point of this passage in Timothy that EVERY word is God-breathed. I have learned from you to read things as they are and to draw out of scripture instead of putting my ideas in, so i was just wondering how you got that the authors were inspired and not each word of scripture. Also, if the authors were inspired and not the words, then are all the writings of the authors of the bible inspired as well, or only the bible and how do you differentiate? Thank you so much for your amazing work, I have learned so much from you and thoroughly enjoy listening to you. Praise God for the work you are doing in His kingdom.

It seems from my preliminary research (and I only just recently heard of this version; I won't call it a "translation") that the author of the TPT uses personal prophecy to judge the Scripture (thus the interpretive flavor of his text) rather than have Scripture judge personal "prophecy". I appreciate those who seek a deeper relationship with Jesus and honor the Presence of the Holy Spirit, but we must take heed to the Word of God. The Scripture tells us to "test the spirits" (see 1 John 4:1; 1 Cor. 14:29; 1 Tim 4:1 etc.). The real point here is, not how we FEEL about any of this, but the TRUTH. The Word of God is the authority (2 Tim. 3:16) so it is important that the Bible version be true to the original text. I believe this is what Pastor Winger is trying to do here.

The use of Christ, Messiah, and Anointed One--aren't those genuinely parallel terms? I am not saying this to prop up the Passion Translation, but because I am genuinely curious about this as an independent issue. As I have understood things, the original term would be the Hebrew Messiah (Mashiach? not sure of the Hebrew spelling off the top of my head). This was translated into Greek as Christ and means "Anointed One" in our language. Correct? Thanks, Mike, I have gotten a lot of thought-provoking and helpful stuff from your videos. I believe the Bible states clearly that no one should add or take away from the Word. And, this translation surfacing at all because Simmons believed that Jesus Himself appeared and gave Simmons a duty against what God already made clear and final- is off because God never changes.
Seems pretty obvious to me by the experience this man had, that alone says a lot aside from what Simmons believes in general. I've had a few supernatural incidences where I physically saw things and had things forced on me. But I don't care to share it to other believers because God's Word is final. I am thankful to even be allowed to have faith in His truths. God bless.

    Hello Mike,
I would like to point out something about this signs and wonders movement. This group has gone far from biblical parameters, by adding there own interpretations to the text even without the passion translation. This group, you may already know, is called the word of faith movement and is strongly connected with the prosperity gospel preachers. SO4J-TV and the Berean Call have lots of videos on these groups on youtube. Search for example Bethel Menace from the Berean Call.
Now, I also want to mention the gift of speaking in tongues, because I found on the internet that the actual phrase speaking in tongues in the Greek means speaking foreign languages. This means actual languages and thus Paul is talking about the supernatural gift of God of speaking foreign languages by the work of the Holy Spirit as in Acts 2. It turns out that the gift of speaking in tongues as it is practiced in charismatic churches is not speaking in a foreign language. It is more a kind of gibberish known as glossolalia. This phenomenon has been observed in many other religions as well (if I am correct even mormons speak such gibberish). It is also not a true language, as it has no grammar or logical structure. That means that it is not linked to any foreign language and (probably) also not to an angel language. That makes it very conspicious. According to John Macarthur, the charismatic movement actually has (maybe unknowingly) got involved in satan's fakes substitute for the gift of speaking foreign languages. This would be out of the desire to feel God working and to really get the gifts of the Spirit. There is also some relation with the fake healings, since a lot of them turn out to be psychosomatic healings, which even unbelievers can learn to do with just the right words and techniques. SO4J-TV has a lot of content on this stuff.
I myself would like you to do a video about what you know about the charismatic church group, especially the NAR. Can you then also include the Toronto blessing in it, because that seems to be one of their milestones, which convinced me that the gifts as they practice them are rather demonic. This because in those meetings there were people making animal sounds/ behaving like animals, falling or being drunk in the spirit and such strange things that in my view are not of God, but of the devil.

For 40 years as a Christian, one of the most common and insidious problems (easily in the top five) I’ve seen in the Church is the tendency to being agenda-driven. IOW, one has a preconception to which all else must conform, or through which all else is filtered. For example, there is a strain of dominionism running rampant that preaches that Jesus is to become the dominant figure over all of current culture, now in this time, misappropriating Millennial Reign scriptures, such as Psalm 2, to the end that any scripture that indicates otherwise is either misinterpreted or ignored. Likewise, Cessationists maintain there is no baptism in the Holy Spirit, yet John the Baptist’s declaration about the same was so significant as to be mentioned in all four gospels, yet the agenda mindset simply ignores this fact.
The general phenomenon of ‘agendaism’ runs entirely across the denominational spectrum-it’s a fallen-man affliction, no one is immune; I constantly ask God to give me openness and shrewdness with respect to The Word, remebering that Jesus is THE Rabbi and Scribe, that the Holy Spirit leads me in Truth, as I actively study the Word, in a constant state of agenda-free. Thank God, it is, in fact, God Almighty who, Himself, guards and preserves that singular Pearl.

If he wants to avoid saying whether they are or aren't true followers of Christ, he should just not say anything about that question. Just present the evidence and let it stand.

That has been misrepresented in the world as a weak little mouse when she is really a powerful woman of God who has the good sense to know & respect God’s order! Anything with 2 heads is a freak! Anything with no head isn’t living! God’s plan for the family unit to work as it does is perfect! If our lives have seen times when we were unable to have this, I believe God honors our efforts. What I'd like to see is a new, not-for-profit translation of the textus receptus, giving it a fresh Shake using all the lessons learned from Westcott and Hort, and the majority texts, but not using those texts themselves, and approach it from a mixed evangelical perspective with 1st century Judaism scholars, etc.
Sure, I know majority text is all the rage, but if you believe God preserved his bible then the path it took to get to us has something to say to us about its veracity along that path, and there's some distinct changes from the Alexandrian texts and the Asia-minor texts most in use by the epicenter of the early church. From Philo to Origin, there's been a school of thought in Alexandria that isn't concerned with the literal words of God, hence why they had the greatest repository of gnostic texts, abd was the epicenter of Greek metaphysical thought post-athens.
So while people understandably was the the oldest texts, the receptus is certainly still the bible and has been more closely related to the bible of our ancestors for much of history.
I'm not making a case for KJV onlyism, but I see no reason why we can't throw them a bone on their least offensive argument.

Here are a few examples that show some knowledge in scripture is hidden and must be sought after, but that is a separate matter from changing what scripture says as the author of the Passion "Translation" is doing for sure.
      Proverbs 25:2
It is the glory of God to conceal things, but the glory of kings is to search things out.
      Matthew 13:11-12
He replied, “You are permitted to understand the secrets of the Kingdom of Heaven, but others are not. 12To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given, and they will have an abundance of knowledge. But for those who are not listening, even what little understanding they have will be taken away from them.
      Daniel 12:4
But you, Daniel, shut up the words and seal the book, until the time of the end. Many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.”
And this one shows in general He does veil some things in secrecy
      Isaiah 45:3
I will give you the treasures of darkness and the hidden riches of secret places, so that you may know that I am the LORD, the God of Israel, who calls you by name.
It's just kind of fascinating to see this in scripture and realize the Bible is a treasure hunt for truth, and God rewards us with more understanding as we seek after it. I love that!

I don't mind reading it at all if I view it.. Not as a translation of the Bible. But as Eric Simmons interpretation of the scriptures. Like a paraphrase bible, a commentary written in the form of a translation. I think its totally fine then. But shouldnt be considered "Gods Word" by any stretch,
And if I view it with that lense of perception on. I would go so far as to say I wouldn't be suprised if God actually led Eric to do it. God has led people to do much more wild things then that. The Holy Spirit led Jesus to put mud in a blind mans eyes. He led Paul to pray over pieces of cloth and distribute them to the sick. He led Peter into a trance and He led John into a Revelation.
I believe God still works NOW the same way He worked then because God is the same yesterday, today and forever. What I don't believe though, is that the Passion Translation should in any way shape or form be consider a literal translation. Rather a mans heart felt commentary on the bible written in the form of a translation. Makes for a good read. But the Author is Distinctly Eric Simmons, on every, single page. The author is not Peter, James, John, Matthew, Issac, Jeremiah, Eziekel, Solomon or David. It's Eric Simmons on every single page.

Doesn’t it concern you that Simmons puts it forward as worthy of scholarly study?

A pastor of a church I attended years ago in the 80's went on to amazing delusions about Jesus appearing in his room as a white horse upon which he was given a tour of the universe ... I find it quite remarkable the plethora of this kind of thing in the last few decades, if there was ever a sign of the immanent return of Jesus, this nonsense is surely one of them, that along with the explosion of LGBTQRST ....
