  • On 25th February this year Centre Govt. had announced rules for social media platforms in the 'significant social media intermediaries' category and provided a three-month compliance window. These Rules substantially empower the ordinary users of digital platforms to seek redressal for their grievances and command accountability in case of infringement of their rights. In this episode we will discuss and analyse all aspects of these guidelines and their implications.

I don't think this debate covers the holistic picture of the new rules and implications..both are panelists are talking in favour of the govt, which is not bad. But the tenet of fair debate and discussion calls for a counter view as well. Just saying

The discussion has completely been one sided in favor of the government. The panelists mostly talked about concerns regarding women , children and harassment , so as far as these matters are concerned there could have had been guidelines which restricts these and protects an individual's right. But in my opinion what the guidelines are providing are more of govt protection and restricts people's right to criticize the govt for its wrong policies and decisions. some sort of regulations needs to be made but nothing at a cost which hinders common man's right to express. For ex. in case of print media there is never something unconstitutional but healthy criticism is always present. Similarly some sort of rules can me put in place which stands on the same thing.

RSTV should not invite public authorities in the discussion. PLZ. Even if they are slightly against the policy they won't express it over here.

yes but facebook ,whatsapp , instagram have different policy for Europe usa and country like india. they treat these country as colony till now.

@@rsdogra1595 Right that's why we want some panelists from media and private firms as well to make the debate having wider sight. And yes this rules are quite necessary for India since social media platforms fail to take a strict action against the violators. Foreign companies must adhere to domestic rules if they want to expand their business over here. If media remains uncontrolled then the political, social and economic condition of a country deteriorates. Laws are quite necessary. Right to privacy will violate to a certain extent but we should not defer the fundamental right against exploitation.

    • @jsjsjsjkskdjs

@ROHAN ARWARI yes so basically thats what my opinion is. Being a democratic country we have to take care that every thing is in the right place. If we will violate the right to privacy and securing all other rights, this is against the constitutional structure of our country. So there is an urgent need to draft a mechanism which ensures that we don’t fail at any step.

Regulation is needed for social media platforms because i have seen such news which completely had no bases.
I hope these things would be discussed peacefully among digital media platforms and the government.

One sided discussion totally in favour of government and partial. The discussion should also look at the cons of the it rules it is limiting the free expression of people and any comments against government it is taken as toolkit this bjp gov never excepts criticism we live in democratic country and have the right to accuse gov for its wrong decision and handling of issues like covid especially

If you would have watched the video properly, you would have come across the point where the panelist talks about a grievance redressal mechanism where complaints can be filed and answered. This is where the FoSnE gets operationalised in true sense.
But no. You were pretty busy finding grounds for propaganda.

    • @moskit9420
      @moskit9420 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Each and every citizen should have right to know the originator of any content, not only the govt.
I also want to know the originator of WhatsApp content that has mentally paralyzed my family member.
The main tactic of this govt. is to keep any law Opaque.
      For example.
1.) In case of UAPA act the law has not properly defined the term "UNLAWFUL".
Only 2.2% cases registered under UAPA act between the years 2016-2019 ended in conviction by court.
2.) In case of "LOVE JIHAD" UP govt. has not properly defined the term Allurement. (govt. yeh blame bhi laga sakta hai aapne kisi ko Parle-G khila ke uska Dharam change kar diya.)
if any law will not be crystal clear than obviously govt. will use it as a tool.
Those who are supporting BJP should keep in mind that not now but in future govt. will change or BJP is not going to rule forever. We Should not promote any law, act or amendment that have potential to infringe Citizens right because at the end only middle class Citizens will suffer because no body has courage to touch Politician of any Party.

My question is that as whatsapp reported, this process of tracking the information would imply that one needs to alter the user data by adding a fingerprinting method to track it's originator will..
    1. Create privacy issues, as data encryption happens a lot of layers before than actually when the data is sent so kind of impact the whole end-to-end encryption by hindering the process by action of a third party
    2. If I take a ss/download/etc then re-share it, then it will make me as the content originator originator (and like me their can be 1000s of ppl) sharing data after downloading/ss
So how effective will these measures become with such large user base like in WhatsApp/Facebook etc?
