If you’re lucky enough to find a refurbished unit you will save lots of $$ & still get the same warranty. I just received my 2720 for sublimation…again a refurb on eBay for $179 from Epson. This works perfect because now I can use the color ink from the 2720 in my 2760. No waste at all. Good luck hunting for refurbs…Happy Holidays

Video was a great review. I bought the 4700 and I was having second thoughts cause of some reviews in exchanging it to a 2720 or the 2760. But after watching this video I guess I'm sticking with the 4700. Thanks for your video!!
The one main thing one may want a 4700 line would be the print speed. I’m not sure how much it’ll matter when the printer is converted into a sublimation printer, but with regular printing ET2xxx is 5ppm and the ET4000 is 10ppm. I’m starting to do shirt designing for personal reasons and not to sell so I chose the ET2720 over the ET4700. Target currently has a sale on both. The ET2720 is at $199.99 and the ET4700 is $239.99. With a Target Redcard you’ll have an extra $10/$14 extra savings on top of that. I thought to just put the extra $40 difference towards my fund for a heat press. After watching other videos of sublimation printing with the ET2720, I’m satisfied with the speed of printing. Plus if anything goes wrong, I know it won’t be covered through factory warranty once it’s converted. This way I don’t waste money and won’t be too too sad to buy another lol. Thanks for sharing! I personally don't consider print speed because I turn off the high speed feature. I can't say I see a difference between printers when turning off high speed, but it might be an interesting test.
Thanks for sharing the info. I been shopping around for sub printers and found that the Epson 7840 and 7820 both take 13x19 in paper. They are the replacement for the Epson 7710 and 7720. I would like one of 7800 series, but looks like too much work to convert the printer to sub. I just want to add ink and go. Thanks for sharing.

Does the color matter? I’m trying to find the 2720 new in white and it’s been so hard . I found a black one . Could I use the black for sublimation as well?
wondering if you can help with a sizing issue? So I have been doing sublimation for almost 2 years now and I have a 2720 for my sublimation printer. So my question being is that im working on a project and I will print my sizing blanks on my regular printer which is a 2760 and they will fit perfectly to my project but when i go to print it on my sublimation printer and I make sure the size has not changed go and print it and its a different size, why would it be printing differently
If people don't need a scanner, paper loader or Fax, they can even buy the EcoTank ET-1810, that's the bottom of the range but still has the Ecotank and uses the same printing technology as the more expensive ones.
With bottles, you pour the ink into the printer's ink tank. Cartridges do not pour out. You install the entire cartridge into the right spot in the printer.
The 2720 comes with T-522 ink (a dye-based ink) and the next up the line is the 2760, which comes with T-502 ink (a combo of pigment and dye). This only matters if you want to hang on to the original ink for use with another Epson printer (that uses the better 522 ink) that you use for regular printing. Basically, you can make use of $60 worth of ink instead of throwing it out. When I was shopping the price difference between the 2720 and 2760 was $40, so buying the 2760 let me keep and use the $60 worth of ink that I'd otherwise have to trash -- saving $20.
Not only price, but I did buy the Sawgrass 500...and it would NOT ever work on Wifi. I spent 3 hours on a tech support call and they ended up telling me it was my Home Network. I have other printers that work on my network - and I went out and bought the Epson 2720 and it works perfectly fine on WiFi. I went to the Sawgrass page forums and so many people posting about the same Wifi issue - and the printer continuing to go offline. Don't get Sawgrass!!!
I've seen another video that says you need a cartridge kit with reset chip. Do you plan on using the cartridges already in printer or did you need a different set of cartridges? Thanks

Yes, I find the black to very black and I would buy it again. Make sure your black hex code is really black....#000000 and not something that looks black on screen such as #333333

I recently updated the driver for the Epson 2720 and now all the sublimation prints are purple tinted no matter what setting I used so don’t update the recent driver. Do you know how I can undo the recent update? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.
Wow, I've never heard of that happening. Maybe look into restoring your computer to a previous time? You could likely youtube your computer model and search "restore to previous date"

People have made the same mistake. If you really want to use this for sublimation right now, you'd have to remove all of the pigment ink from the tanks, clean them, and then add sublimation ink. Most people get a new printer.

It has so much more to do with the actual design that's going on the shirt, than the shirt itself. Generally though, at least 11 inches wide. Which would be a regular size copy paper in landscape mode. (minus the small border).

This whole time we’ve been under the impression that the model you just had printed smaller than say the 4700, so that’s not true correct?

I went to your website and all of the sublimation inks that you recommended...None of those inks were for the Epson 2720...They were for all of the other Epson Printers higher than the 2720...I definitely am not able to afford Cosmos $75 sublimation ink 4pk, plus their website lists all the other Epson printers that their sublimation inks are specified specifically for...Except the 2720...Need to know exactly which brand and great quality and afford especially with me being a 1st timer of Sublimation
I've been using the Epson Ecotank-2720 for a couple of years. I've even gone through two or three of them as using a printer is an integral part of my career but I must confess how confused I am by hearing the phrase, "sublimation printer" and "sawgrass" throughout this video. Is that an East Coast term or something? I even did a search on Bing and still have no idea what this sublimation subject is you're talking about. 50 years old, consider myself somewhat intelligent but haven't a clue what sublimation printers are.
2720 is a great all around printer! The Epson line can be used in the art of Sublimation. That's where you print a design using special ink. After printing, the design gets permanently transferred to an item (such as a t-shirt) by using a heat press machine. It's a big business, also fun hobby. Sawgrass is a brand that makes sublimation printers. You can also convert many other types of printers to use sublimation ink but they're other brands (and cheaper). Sawgrass also has its own software for design. For definition purposes, sublimation is when you use a certain type of ink that when heated, turns into a gas and literally stains the fabric (or "substrate..." Coasters, mugs, etc.) with the image printed, instead of laying on top like an iron-on. It becomes fused with the fabric or coating itself. In clothing, it's very desirable as opposed to vinyl because of the softness of the fabric and durability of the design. Hope this explains things for you. 😎
Hello, I just bought and converted the Epson ET-2720 to a sublimation printer. I find that the sublimation outputs are not vibrant if you will. I don't know if it's the sublimation ink company that I chose or the machine. I just know my designs don't pop and look bland. I am looking into trying to get this particular ink out of the machine and purchase sublimation ink from a different company.
Could be the ink, but more than likely it's other things....like paper quality, press temp, pressure, length of time and of course, the actual blank you are using. If it's not the ink, you'll want to know that before swapping.
Hi... I just set up the 2720. Is this an inkjet? I have inkjet sublimation paper and it is light blue on one side and white on the other. Is that good paper? Thank you 😊

The problem I am having is that when I send a print I get a miss matched paper error. i am able to by pass it but then in the middle of my print I get a connection error then the printer stops and spits out the page with a half print> I went through the whole set up process and not sure what is going on

I would always try to call Epson for warranty, but I wouldn't count on being covered. But yes, you never know.

Love the Printer, only thing I don't like is you need the HP app but it's really good, no issues, prints great

What the difference between sublimation ink in cartridge and ink in the bottles like you showed us.

Epson even make 2710 and 2715 models that are even cheaper! But you will loose "huge" LCD screen.
When it’s time to refill the Espon is it anything special you have to do? Or do u just add some more ink to the color when it gets low
Add the ink slowly, do it at the end of the day when you're all done printing. Then I simply do a nozzle check the next day.

Good news with the Eco Tanks, NO chips needed. They do not use cartridges. You simply pour the sublimation ink into the tanks.

Yes. Put in the sub ink BEFORE you plug the machine up and then be very careful if you have to move it anywhere.

What is the print quality difference between the different models?
We've used various models. The quality difference is negligible....in our opinion.
I have tried putting 2 different prints on the polyester blanket and it isn't coming off.. what am I doing wrong?

That's the max paper size it will hold in the rear feed without flopping over. But it will print a long sheet of paper if you have it.

My husband and I have spent hours researching as we want to try our hand at sublimation but we have been feeling overwhelmed with all the info out there and don’t want to spend hundreds of dollars on the “wrong” printer. This whole time we’ve been under the impression that the model you just had printed smaller than say the 4700, so that’s not true correct?

I have a epson 3720 would it work as a sublimation as well??
The ET 3720 is good to go. Just remember to fill it with sublimation ink and not the ink it comes with.
I have tried but the printer does not read the new cartridges w the sublimation ink I have tried so many times nd can't get it to work do u have any advice?

I went to your website and all of the sublimation inks that you recommended...None of those inks were for the Epson 2720...They were for all of the other Epson Printers higher than the 2720...I definitely am not able to afford Cosmos $75 sublimation ink 4pk, plus their website lists all the other Epson printers that their sublimation inks are specified specifically for...Except the 2720...Need to know exactly which brand and great quality and afford especially with me being a 1st timer of Sublimation

I've been using the Epson Ecotank-2720 for a couple of years. I've even gone through two or three of them as using a printer is an integral part of my career but I must confess how confused I am by hearing the phrase, "sublimation printer" and "sawgrass" throughout this video. Is that an East Coast term or something? I even did a search on Bing and still have no idea what this sublimation subject is you're talking about. 50 years old, consider myself somewhat intelligent but haven't a clue what sublimation printers are.
2720 is a great all around printer! The Epson line can be used in the art of Sublimation. That's where you print a design using special ink. After printing, the design gets permanently transferred to an item (such as a t-shirt) by using a heat press machine. It's a big business, also fun hobby. Sawgrass is a brand that makes sublimation printers. You can also convert many other types of printers to use sublimation ink but they're other brands (and cheaper). Sawgrass also has its own software for design. For definition purposes, sublimation is when you use a certain type of ink that when heated, turns into a gas and literally stains the fabric (or "substrate..." Coasters, mugs, etc.) with the image printed, instead of laying on top like an iron-on. It becomes fused with the fabric or coating itself. In clothing, it's very desirable as opposed to vinyl because of the softness of the fabric and durability of the design. Hope this explains things for you. 😎
Hello, I just bought and converted the Epson ET-2720 to a sublimation printer. I find that the sublimation outputs are not vibrant if you will. I don't know if it's the sublimation ink company that I chose or the machine. I just know my designs don't pop and look bland. I am looking into trying to get this particular ink out of the machine and purchase sublimation ink from a different company.
Could be the ink, but more than likely it's other things....like paper quality, press temp, pressure, length of time and of course, the actual blank you are using. If it's not the ink, you'll want to know that before swapping.
Hi... I just set up the 2720. Is this an inkjet? I have inkjet sublimation paper and it is light blue on one side and white on the other. Is that good paper? Thank you 😊

@@QuickSPI Hi...It does not say. I actually tried a test print and it worked. The problem I am having is that when I send a print I get a miss matched paper error. i am able to by pass it but then in the middle of my print I get a connection error then the printer stops and spits out the page with a half print> I went through the whole set up process and not sure what is going on

I just ordered this and watched another video where a lady made a bigger image for sublimation by slicing the image. Have you done that? I'm not sure what size image would go on a xl or 2x shirt
Yes! You can print in sections depending on the program - usually called "tile print" or "poster"
