"2 tickets to paradise" is the whole reason my friend and I in 1979 decided we had to drive to LA to see him. So worth it! We went to Disneyland the next day, still hyped by Eddie 😆✌️
Eddie Money was one of my favorite singers of the 80s, and this song was one of the best mix of vocals from both Eddie and Ronnie. Now you'll have to listen to Be My Baby; so you know how the original sounds like. As far as Mr. Money; Shakin' is a great song. I Think I'm in Love, and 2 Tickets to Paradise, which someone mentioned already
Ronnie Specter and the Ronettes were huge with "Be my baby" in 1963. They toured with the Beatles in 64, and are famous for using Phil Specter's "Wall of sound" effect for recording. Specter later went on to piss off the Beatles remastering and mixing the album LET IT BE and employing techniques he was asked not to.
One of rocks greatest artists. So many hits to react to if you choose to go down that rabbit hole. Died in 2019 at age 70 from natural causes. RIP Eddie.
This would've been a good rock song with just Eddie, but then Ronnie Spector's voice hits and elevates it to the top shelf. Us guys of a certain vintage felt our hearts stop the first time we heard it.
As a teenager in the 80s I suddenly fell in love with 60s songs - especially those girl-groups. Then I remember hearing this song for the first time on FM-Radio and I'm like 'WTF?' - such a great song.
Eddie Money can really rock. His songs are sing along greatness. The way he revs up the songs and including Ronnie Spector is genius and so good Nice to see you appreciate it
Mr. Mahoney (yes that is Eddie’s real last name) tore the charts up starting in 1979 through the 80’s with Two tickets to Paradise, Take me Home Tonight, Baby Hold on, among others. You can’t go wrong diving into this Rabbit hole
Sometimes when I watch people reacting to classics, I think "there's no way you've never heard this song before," but then I remember the time I was working as a cook at a restaurant and I asked the 20 year old bartender to play some blink-182 and he looked me dead in the eyes and said "never heard of them before." I would love to have that feeling of listening to a classic as an adult for the first time.
You found the power chorus of all pop power choruses! I love that you just repeated watching the first chorus after your first view. Your reaction made me fall in love with this song all over again! Thanks for the video!
This is kind of a 80s Motown nostalgia song, reminiscing about a song by the Ronettes back in 1963, and even featuring Ronnie as backing vocals. Everybody listened to Motown music back in the day (and easy listening / soft rock, pop, country hits, etc.). In reactions people tend to focus more on rock hits, and they may not quite comprehend the broad influences on all of us. FWIW, the Beach Boys also responded to "Be My Baby," though much closer to the release of the original. In 1964, they released "Don't Worry Baby," which was a hit.
Back in the 80's, there was a huge nostalgia craze for the 60's. Sixties music and fashions were everywhere. Those of us who were in our 20's in the 80's were just a bit to young to fully appreciate the 60's so this was a chance to live it. Hearing and then seeing Ronnie Specter in this video hits most of us 60's kids right in the feels! If you like Eddie Money (may he rest in peace!), you should check out some of his other music like "Baby Hold On", "I Think I'm in Love", "Two Tickets To Paradise" and "Gimme Some Water". He is really an underappreciated singer and performer.
I worked with him and have a picture of us back from 1993. His real name was Eddie Mahoney and he was a NYC cop for a while. He was one of the nicest down-to-earth guys. He died not too long ago, but much too soon.
Okay, now you have to listen to Robert Palmer's Addicted to Love - the official music video specifically. I don't know how the 'band' kept a straight face.
Always LOVED EVERY aspect of this song AND the video - which was PERFECT for the vibe - big empty stadium with Eddie in the shadows & then Ronnie being a sexy shadow, progressing closer & closer until she is revealed, along with her sexy hip movements! Everything was PERFECT. - And I am glad to see how much you appreciated this one too!
When this video came out my mind was blown, I had no idea this was who I'd been listening to for years 🙊 he caught a second wind of sorts with this song.
ALL his 70's & 80's music was great! He even had hits in the 90's as well.He was a hit machine!!! EDDIE MONEY: "Life For The Taking" "Maybe I'm A Fool" "Running Back" "Rock And Roll The Place" "Cant Keep A Good Man Down" "Trinidad" "Gambling Man" "I Think Im In Love" "No Control" "Where's The Party?" "Big Crash" "Club Michelle" "Another Nice Day In LA" "Heaven In The Backseat" "Boardwalk Baby" "Looking Through The Eyes Of A Child" "Walk on Water" "I'll Get By" "Fall In Love Again" "Endless Nights" "Stop Steppin' On My Heart" "Peace In Our Time" "She Takes My Breath Away" "Baby Hold On" "Two Tickets To Paradise" "Shakin'' (Im sure i missed a few. It was off the top of my head. Ha!)
Love Eddie Money, first person I seen in concert..he actually came to my shithole town when I was a teenager. If you want just great rock n roll, cant go wrong.."Baby, Hold On To Me" is his greatest hit in my opinion..."Shak'in" is a great song and video...love "No Control"
Hey it's one of your biggest fans from sunny California hope you're doing well! I had to make the comment after I seen this video. My Uncle Tim Barnes used to play for a band called stone-ground in the Bay area and he's in another band now he's played for well he's 70 years old he's been playing since he was in his early teens made enough money to support himself and his whole family with his musical career. The reason I bring this up is because he used to play with Eddie money in the Bay area back in the early 70s, also Stevie Ray Vaughan and got to meet and do a performance with Eric Clapton which I actually have a copy on a cassette tape which I have saved for many many years. My uncle still plays to this day and it was so nice to always grow up being around these kind of people when I was a kid I didn't realize the gravity of it. They all used to play in a place called The Warehouse in Oakland California in the early early 70s when I was just a little girl as I am 53 years old now. Okay had to make this comment but you would think it was cool as I do! Signed always one of your biggest female fans in California love you so much! Signed a grateful fan, Dannie ❣️❣️ ALSO PLEASE CHECK OUT,SHAKIN ' BY EDDIE MONEY,YOU WILL ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!
Eddie Money songs were the party songs when the girls wanted to dance, but the boys wanted rock. We could all get into it after a couple of beers, knowhatImean?
Eddie Money was one of my older sister's favorite singers, and I got exposed to him and a lot of late 80s/early 90s music that my peers didn't through her. A song I would suggest that comes up with this grouping on my master playlist, try Waiting for a Star to Fall by Boy Meets Girl. 🙂
Eddie was 2 years behind me at Island Trees HS in Levittown NY. He has lots of great songs my favorite being Shaking. Not sure if you realise who Ronnie is here. Thas Ronnie Specter of the Ronnettes and Phil Specter's wife. Their referring back to the Ronnettes song Be my Baby one of the biggest songs of all time th-cam.com/video/jrVbawRPO7I/w-d-xo.html
HEY SALVO!!! 😊 YOU GOTTA DO EDDIE'S 70'S STUFF, THE HUGE HITS BEING : TWO TICKETS TO PARADISE & BABY HOLD ON, BIGGGGGG ROCK HITS, AND R.I.P 🙁TO EDDIE, ANOTHER ROCK LEGEND LOST TOO EARLY!🙁TAKE CARE SALVO AND ENJOY!
How fun is this? Haven't heard this song in decades!!! Born in the 50s' and experienced the best music ever!!! xzss-po0 my cat just walked across the computer keyboard! He loves this song also!!! Great reaction sir!
The whole song would've been just any mainstream softrock FM radio 80's hitsong. Totally forgotten by now, like so many others. But then there was Ronnie Spector with that fabulous and powerful voice. Lifting this song up into the stratosphere of poprock evergreens. I don't know how many times I've heard it since its release, but every single time I get goosebumps when Ronnie sings her part.
On your own, check out Ronnie and the Ronette's original hit song "Be My Baby," which reached No. 2 on the U.S. pop singles chart in 1963 ... which Eddie Money borrowed from 23 years later for this awesome song featuring Ronnie Spector.
Ronnie was like 50 something when she did this video with Eddie money. This may be one of the first times a hit song was officially "sampled" into another hit song. Epic
I loved your reaction to the sax. It was the 80s, after all! 😂 Had the opportunity to see him perform in a very small venue. Very interactive with his close audience. I always thougtt it was a disservice that this song lost out to "Addicted To Love", although that is also an excellent and iconic 80s song and video.
You should listen to her original hit single with the Ronettes in the 1960's "Be My Baby". She was married to the late, eclectic, eccentric (and murderous) "wall of sound" genius Phil Spector.
Always liked the music of ‘86. Couple of odd coincidences with this song (1) it charted just a few weeks after Phil Collins exited the chart with “Take Me Home”. Similarly titled, but two very different songs and meanings. (2) it coincided on the chart with another classic rocker making a comeback with uncredited R&B royalty - Steve Winwood, joined by Chaka Kahn, on “Higher Love”.
Take a listen to "Two Tickets To Paradise" for a more rocking Eddie Money vibe - great tune! Also, "Shakin'" how could I have forgotten that great song?!?!
Of course, now you HAVE to react to "Be My Baby" by the Ronettes. You'll understand why Eddie Money wanted to include Ronnie and the song in his song.
Absolutely.
Oh YEAH! Check out the Ronettes, so you get the full reference.
I love how he got Ronnie Specter to participate. Great song.
It was like icing on the cake
@@johnthegreek5836 Spot on!
That voice of Ronnie Specter does it for me.
"2 tickets to paradise" is the whole reason my friend and I in 1979 decided we had to drive to LA to see him. So worth it! We went to Disneyland the next day, still hyped by Eddie 😆✌️
omg, yes....loved him back in the day...
LA....yuck
A classic; her voice takes the song to a whole other level.
Yes...!
1982's "Think I'm In Love", and 1978's "Baby Hold On" and "Two Tickets to Paradise", are my favorite Eddie Money bangers.
Take A Little Bit, Walk On Water, and Open Up Your Heart from AMERICATHON movie.

He later killed his wife and was sent to prison.
Eddie's got some serious stage presence.
Gimme some water is a banger from Eddie
Baby Hold On, Two Tickets to Paradise and Shakin are worth a listen also.
It didn't matter that she was uncredited. There was no mistaking who she was. Eddie is another one who isn't in the RRHOF and should be!
One of rocks greatest artists. So many hits to react to if you choose to go down that rabbit hole. Died in 2019 at age 70 from natural causes. RIP Eddie.
He died of esophageal cancer.
This would've been a good rock song with just Eddie, but then Ronnie Spector's voice hits and elevates it to the top shelf. Us guys of a certain vintage felt our hearts stop the first time we heard it.
Us gals of a certain vintage felt the same...LOL!
As a teenager in the 80s I suddenly fell in love with 60s songs - especially those girl-groups. Then I remember hearing this song for the first time on FM-Radio and I'm like 'WTF?' - such a great song.
Eddie was such a nice guy I'm so glad that I was able to meet him and no it was not at a concert. RIP Eddie, he had great music 🎶.
Eddie Money can really rock. His songs are sing along greatness. The way he revs up the songs and including Ronnie Spector is genius and so good

A pop masterpiece! Memories of cruising with the car windows down and this blasting.
I saw Eddie Money on this tour...he was great!

“Be My Baby” by the Ronettes is required listening. One of the greatest songs ever.
3:42 That shadow. That voice.
You really cannot say we did not have some great music in the 80s ...Gen X. We rule...
Glad you really loved this song Salvo! RIP EDDIE.

Ha ha ha, I like it, it's good to listen to this kind of music on the beach near the ocean 😁
For many years Eddie would open up Pine Knob outside Detroit and I saw him twice and WHAT A SHOW ! I would recommend Gimme some water

"Shakin'" is a good one also
Pop enough for the radio of the time, yet rock enough to reach older teens/twentysomethings without offending their parents.
Please do Aja from Steely Dan you will love it! It'll blow your mind
This is what it looks like ... when you actually had to have Talent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't think you needed to see Ronnie Spector's name to know who was singing those lyrics, did you? 😍
This is a long way from my usual taste but the pop appeal is tremendous and I love it
You read bad info, she got credited and paid handsomely.
Take a listen to "Two Tickets To Paradise" for a more rocking Eddie Money vibe - great tune! Also, "Shakin'" how could I have forgotten that great song?!?!
Ronnie has always done it for me
