The smartest thing Eddie Money ever did was making that phone call to Ronnie Spector to do this video with him. Veronica Yvette Bennett-Specter was an American singer who co-founded and fronted the girl group the Ronettes. She is sometimes referred to as the original "bad girl of rock and roll". She is singing a line from her song - "Be My Baby" a huge hit in 1963 .

Another great day for Eddie was the day he resigned from being a cop and dedicated himself to music!

If I recall, Eddie first offered the part to Martha Davis of The Motels, who insisted that Ronnie was the only singer right for the song. Ronnie had to be convinced to come out of retirement.

🎶”Just like Ronnie sang”🎶… 💜. If you haven’t yet, you should react to The Ronettes Be My Baby so you can see what Eddie Money did with the song. Their live versions were fantastic.

Ronnie Spector was born in 1943. We lost her in 2022 to cancer. Her group, the Ronettes were popular between 1957 and 1967. Yes, she was married to Phil Spector, a legendary songwriter and producer.

Don't forget the part where Phil abused her to an inch of her life, and then after she escaped him Phil warned anyone who played with her he would finish, and as the most powerful man in music back then he could do it. Eddie had the biggest set ever, to do this.
A seminal moment in Music History, had those of us who lived through it, in our 50's men were literally crying like baby's when this Video came out and Eddie sang Just like Ronnie Sang, and there she was, again. I was one of them.

Nice! I saw a concert in 1980 featuring Heart, Eddie Money and Firefall. I'm a major Heart fan but I have to admit that Eddie stole the show. He both started and ended his performance with his huge EVERYBODY ROCK AND ROLL TONIGHT.

Edward Joseph Money (né Mahoney; March 21, 1949 - September 13, 2019) was an American singer and songwriter who, in the 1970s and 1980s, had eleven Top 40 songs, including "Baby Hold On", "Two Tickets to Paradise", "Think I'm in Love", "Shakin'", "Take Me Home Tonight", "I Wanna Go Back", "Endless Nights", "Walk on Water", and "The Love in Your Eyes" Eddie was a serious rocker with a packed playlist of great tunes. I met him in 1979 back stage after his awesome show at the L. A. Colosseum. He was wearing his N.Y.C. Police uniform.... too cool. The crowd went wild for "Two Tickets To Paradise" Sadly Eddie died a few years ago while his family was doing a reality TV show "Real Money". The “Two Tickets to Paradise” singer's death came less than a month after he announced that he had been diagnosed with stage 4 esophageal cancer. “I thought I was just going in to get a checkup and [the doctor] told me that I got cancer,” Money said in a clip from season two of his reality show Real Money.

"Take Me Home Tonight" was a big part of the soundtrack when I was in high school, but less so than "Shakin'", his big hit before this one. I don't recall all the details from the story behind bringing Ronnie Spector into the song, but Money had The Ronettes "Be My Baby" in mind when he wrote the song and knew somebody who knew somebody who could make the connection with her and when offered the featuring role she hestitated at first because she had left the business years before. But she came around to it after meeting with Money and it helped revive her career, and more importantly, helped her complete her escape from her ex-husband Phil Spector. Phil Spector was a musical genius in the early sixties. He was credited with creating the "wall of sound" approach to making pop music that would be taken up by The Beach Boys and others. But in real life he was a monster who abused Ronnie, kept her locked in the house and worse. Years later, in 2003, he murdered aspiring actress Lana Clarkson and went to prison for it where he died in 2021. At any rate, Eddie Money dropped two massive hits on his debut album that were also part of the soundtrack of the late seventies -- "Two Tickets to Paradise" and "Baby Hold On".

The music on this IS great - as is the mysterious, sexy, smokey vibe of the song. One of my favourites when it came out & still to this day.
The female is a MUCH bigger deal as a recording artist than Eddie Money ever was (although I always still did like Eddie Money) - THAT is why she has such an important role in this song.
(It doesn't hurt that she still had a great voice to reprise her most famous line [changed a little - maybe due to Phil Specter, her ex-husband? - a monster of a man by all accounts].)
It ALSO didn't hurt that she STILL had a body - in her 40s - that would be the envy of many 20 yr. old women today.
Also, the words "to the song?" that you are quoting at the end of your video ARE WRONG! If you go back & REALLY listen in the video, you will hear that the words you are quoting are wrong.
I have seen another reactor (in terrible error) do a lyrics version of this song instead of watching the video, so I know that this is where you got the INCORRECT lyrics from. I would suggest that if you want to know lyrics in future that you go to some OTHER source, as this source that you used in this video can't be trusted to give it to you right.
Glad you enjoyed a little from our past.
