- I finally get to test drive the MK2 1.8t build for the first time. The alignment is terrible but with the last nice day for awhile I had to get it done. Lot's of things going on with first test drive of a car. Watching, Listening, feeling for different things, it's stressful and fun at the same time.

That was a great sight to see, it’s so nice to see it out on the road! I’m so tempted with doing this conversion but my car is so original I don’t think I want to tear it apart. I think I’m going to have to get a rolling shell and just go for it!

Hey man, great to see this thing all up together and driving finally. I have had a few Mk2 1.8ts now and in regards to your vaccum hoses on the inlet, I have used the elbow just after the TB (that you have blanked off) to run straight to my boost gauge inside, then I looped the pipes underneath the manifold... Hope this helps bro 🤙🏼

you can put the low pressure oil sensor above the oil filter and put de wiring to it from the fusebox. Nice work by the way.love the watch your movies

Also? There is a Chevy T-Stat that fits the AWP engine. It opens at 160 rather than stock 190 or ‘race’ 190. I use it in my Bt mk4 1.8t. Might be worth a shot with the addition of a thermostatic mixing plate and an external oil cooler.

Stage 2 fans only come on in usual conditions IF ac is activated. Under normal circumstances, only fan stage 1 will kick on.

Hey Jake! You wouldn’t happen to have, or have a line, on an ABA cast exhaust manifold with the 6-bolt downpipe flange, would you? I’m needing one for my mk2 8 valve with the TT downpipe and exhaust that I’m going to be running.

Hey Jake! I also am working on the same swap and my motor sounds like yours. When it’s cold (first start) it’s quiet as hell but after some time it starts to sound like yours. Is it because the chain isn’t perfectly on time? chain tensioner? Or is it just ok? Learning a lot from you, thanks!

Yep the sound is pretty much gone. The sound in the video is an exhaust leak. I've been putting off buying the correct downpipe and exhaust cause it cost so much.

Ive got a trackslag system to go on mine, investment as not cheap, but it's fantastic quality.

When I built the supercharged mini I had to decide what parts to fit, so got the best I could, including custom made one offs.
Itching to start the 1.8t conversion on the golf soon.
@@davidcox2716 Do it right, Do it once. Do it right the first time. Sayings I think about daily. I don't think there's anything in the world that bugs me more then when you do it right the first time and something still breaks or goes wrong.
I usually have a list and when I cross something off, in my head I'll never have to deal with it again.

Which do you like better mk2 1.8t or vr? I'm thinking of building a 1.8t mk2 for handling. My mk2 vrt is the scariest thing.
Cant say yet. Both are really different feeling. But I plan on doing a video on it in the future.

Hey brother hope you can see this, im trying to find the reference number of the blue plug that goes to the CE2box coming from the gas pedal... Can you help me?
That metal pipe on the throttlebody looks too close/ touching the radiator 04:30. Was thinking with the engine movement could cause a leak in the rad mate. I would cut an inch off the pipe to give yourself some room.

yes it's just a mk3 tank with mk3 fuel pump

If your doing a vr6 or 1.8t swap yes.

What colant temperature sensor you youse orginal 1.8t or other one??
Orginal 1.8t sensor in my mk2 1.8t bam shows wrong temperature on gauge "i hawe mk3 gauge swaped " i youse mk3 colant temperature sensor , how you solve the problem?? Sry for bad English im form other country.
It’s ok. I’m just using the mk4 1.8t sensor with the stock mk2 cluster right now.
But I might put in the mk3 cluster. Not sure yet

I felt the same many times. I made small goals to get at least one thing done a day. But yes it will be worth it. As I get it more dialed in I feel myself getting more and more excited.
Yeah I got an awp and o2j with 95k out of a wrecked mk4 for it. One of my rain gutters is bad, haven't been able to find one. And I'm in commiefornia, used to be able to pay someone couple hundred bucks to pass emissions here, last people i know had to pay $600 just to get a tag, and they shut that guy down so getting it tagged on the street basically impossible now as far as I know.
