The Powertrain is Pathetic…
Under the bodywork, things don't sound like an improvement on paper. Front-wheel drive is the only option, as is a 1.2-liter, yes, you heard that right, three-cylinder turbocharged engine that makes an embarrassing 137 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque. It transmits power to the wheels through a six-speed automatic gearbox. Now that’s not necessarily embarrassing for the size of the engine, but more because of the size of the car, I mean, it’s not a Fiat 500…!
The 2024 Trax actually has 18 hp and 15 lb-ft less than the old Trax, but Chevy has promised that this one is faster.
Chevrolet said that the entire package is such a dramatic shift from the old car that they considered renaming this car to something altogether different. It stuck with "Trax" simply because it already had customer recognition.
Sluggish Transmission
Another issue is the sluggish transmission, which doesn't downshift as promptly as we'd like. That said, we'd still take it over a CVT any day. Fuel economy is rated at 30 mpg combined, which is not as good as compact cars like the Honda Civic but about on par for a crossover this size.
There’s no All wheel drive option…
Yep, that’s right. We’re talking about a crossover SUV here and the new Trax won’t offer an all-wheel drive option, which is pretty disappointing to say the least. Both the Toyota Corolla Cross and the Mazda CX-30 offer all-wheel drive as standard which on top of the notorious Japanese build quality, makes either of them a much smarter choice in this domain.
The interior is dissapointing
If there's a somewhat obvious and glaring flaw in a lot of GM products is the existence of cheap plastics and terrible switchgear. Now we wouldn’t expect the interior quality of an Audi or Mercedes here, but the Trax certainly doesn't meet the basic standards of today’s market.
Considering that much of aesthetic design is subjective, the inside of the Trax is attractive. In fact, after driving the GMC Canyon Denali and AT4X just before the Trax, we prefer some details in the crossover.
That theme of adding a bit of detail where Chevy could've skipped it continues throughout the cabin. The climate vents get little colored fins, the door cards get more texturing, and the seats have unique patterns too. These are the kinds of things that need to be improved across many GM products. We're impressed to see them on the brand's new entry-level model.
The base Trax comes with an 8-inch infotainment system and a 3.5-inch driver information display flanked by two analog gauges. The top three trim levels all get an 8-inch fully-digital gauge cluster and an 11-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
It's also worth noting that the Trax is considerably larger than the old model. In fact, it's 11 inches longer, 4 inches lower, and 2 inches wider than it was in the past. That translates to more cargo and passenger capacity including three extra inches of legroom in the back seat and up to 25.6 cubic feet of storage behind the seats. So we’ll hold our hands up on this one, that is certainly an improvement over the previous generation.
A few of the major complaints center on the seats, which suffer from short front and rear cushions, leaving taller drivers' legs only half supported, and the strange lack of configurability of the available digital gauge cluster. Entry-level LS and 1RS Trax models get analog gauges with a basic display, along with a smaller 8.0-inch, old-generation touchscreen. Still, the rest of the lineup gets a fully digitized dash with an 8.0-inch driver display and an 11.0-inch central screen.
Despite the uplevel models' available screen area, Chevy only allows the driver's display one bit of secondary info at a time-such as trip data or coolant temperature-alongside the speedometer, tachometer, and fuel gauge.
Curiously, there are three designs for those primary gauges via the steering wheel controls. Still, changes to the secondary readout are handled via the central touchscreen, where you must find the data you want to display and then select "display in cluster." It's confusing and a wasted opportunity, given the digital real estate, and the inability to use steering wheel controls to change things there is odd.

I Say; Chevrolet Trash 😮
First of all, I own a new Chevy Trax 2RS and it is hands down a fantastic vehicle for the price. Chevy was wanting to make an affordable new vehicle since the economy isn't great at this time. I think they hit the nail on the head. I live in the Midwest and I have never needed or owned an AWD vehicle. Please remember that AWD doesn't work when you are braking. Also the traction control on the Trax is great! Gas mileage- I am getting about 32 mpg. This is also a 12 gallon gas tank! As far as the tire pressure, coolant level and other things that you would normally find in the driver display, I am not one to have to look at that information all the time and I don't know someone who does. Informant screen is different and new until you are used to it. Dinging the interior and comparing it to a denali is insane! Part of the reason this car is so affordable is because they didn't go super fancy with the interior. I love my seats. They are super comfortable. Only downer I have on mine is manual driver seat, but I am also the only one that drives it. I am a single mom and this was not only affordable with all the bells and whistles I want in a vehicle, but the drive is smooth, comfortable, and quiet. I believe you buy vehicles based on what you use it for. I highly recommend this compact SUV!
Thank you, I usually take videos like this with a grain of salt. But, I depend on reviews from real world owners like you. I thinking seriouly about ordering a Trax for my Grand Daughter when she turns 16 next year, and you have helped greatly in making that decision.
@@wanted-33 You are most welcome! The Trax also has Teen Driver Technology, which allows you to monitor your teen when you are not in the car with them! It helps teach them safe habits. My 6 year old and I love Pearl! (That is what we named her; mine is white)

Love your response. People forget this is a budget car and Fanny compare it to other high end models. If someone wants AWD, then don’t buy this car and get something else. I drive an old Tacoma from the 90’s with no power anything. This Trax would be a huge upgrade for me to at least have power windows 😂. Love the price on this car and what it offers. I’m 50 and don’t need to spend another $10-20K for the “looks cool” factor 😂. Even though this car does look cool 😎. But pricing another Tacoma would put me over $35K EASY. The HP is great for city driving and will not use all of the 137hp. I think the average car uses about 65 ish or so hp in city driving. So why have a over 200hp car ? Unless one is towing or speeding down the highway I guess.
Wow, why so much hate for Chevy? I own the new 24 Trax. Let me tell you its Awesome. Great gas mileage, no problem getting on and off the interstate it has great pick up.
Chevy has become infamous for bad quality in recent years and still now. I grew up GM, dad worked for GM, now not. My last car was a Ford and my next will be a Honda/Toyota.
This is meant to be an affordable economy car. It's great for what it is and not something you should avoid.

I own a 2024 and am very satisfied with my 2RS. Compare apples to apples if you want to make a valid review. This car is a great entry crossover. My Trax is averaging 35 miles per gallon combined. Concerning the 137 hp engine, the 2024 Trax navigates through traffic just fine.
Agreed... I am getting fantastic gas mileage better than what it is rated with no power issues.
Absolutely nothing wrong with front wheel drive. My 1981 Audi 4000 with 5cyl engine was 100hp.
You make it seem like you’re reviewing an Audi, Cadillac or Mercedes crossover and disappointed it’s not suited up like a $55,000-$70,000 vehicle or that doesn’t drives like new sports car. It’s honestly very sleek looking inside and out and you definitely get a LOT for your dollar with the new Chevy Trax compared to other competitors like Toyota and Mazda who do use CHEAP plastic interior for costing more.
I am getting 40 mpg on the road with our new Trax. ( traveling 60-64 mph)

Well I bought a 2024 Trax LT its great for the price, I could have spent 10k more for a Corolla Cross but why I am 66 yrs old and just need basic transportation which this is more than that, great pep, quiet interior, seats for me where comfortable. lots of backseat leg room, plenty of space for groceries or shopping, great tech, and I happen to like the plastic interior easy to clean and cheap to replace if necessary, ride is great and great gas mileage, I don't know what this guy who is doing this review has against the Trax but try to beat the price and you will be sorely disappointed, I bought one locally without dealer markups, with the 10k savings versus any competitor, I will invest and buy another trax when this one is done lol.
Any purchase advice on how to buy locally with no dealer markups???
I have taken a 2RS and an LS out for test drives. This thing is gorgeous, if I may say so... It looks like a Blazer, handles very well for an SUV, and the interior is sharp looking. I love it! The engine sounds great, probably because it's half of a V6 -- much better than a 4 cylinder engine. You get A LOT for your money. Not only that, but I have never owned a Chevy product. I would definitely buy this when my present car needs replacing. My local dealer said it's their best selling model presently.

I've put 1,000 miles on my 2024 Trax over the month & a half I've driven it. While you mention some positives you are dead wrong on the negatives. I have no problem what-so-ever with the power and in fact I have to be careful not to have my wife thrown back in her seat on accelleration. The styling is fantastic both inside and out. Everything else you poo-poo about this car shows either an ignorance of realizing the great stuff you get for your minimal dollars or you are pushing competitor's models like a lying politician would.
Is there an option to turn off the auto stop/start feature ??
Pretty much what I expect from a slow car owner. There’s no way a 1.2 3-cylinder is so fast you have to be careful driving it.

I looked at a 2024 Trax Activ and I liked it so I ordered one. Better looking and less cost that Honda HR-V I looked at. I also hate a CVT transmission which was in the Honda.
As an owner of the new Chevy Trax I can tell you that you get anywhere from 27-36 mpg depending on how you drive and the traffic conditions. Not sure how they got 18 mpg but yeah. The biggest and pretty much only downer in my eyes is the driver display where it only gives you the info of one specific thing at a time such as tire pressure, mpg average, coolant level, etc. it’s annoying to have to go to the infotainment screen to select which one you want to show, or you can just view all of them from that screen too if you wanted too, but I consider this a minor thing that you just get used to

I bought the 2024 Trax 2RS and I have to say for the price, I was pleasantly surprised. The ride is very smooth and comfortable, and it is very peppy. It keeps up with traffic effortlessly and it takes hills with absolutely no hesitation at all. I love the 11" infotainment screen and the backup camera is very clear and vivid. All in all it is well worth the price. I am averaging over 30mpg so far so it is very economical.it looks sharp on the outside also. Very satisfied so far. It is very roomy on the inside for a vehicle of it's size.
It's a good concept and I hope it proves to be reliable. Could be a great affordable suv for most people.
Hope is not a strategy a direct injection 1200cc 3 cylinder turbo is going to die an early death in a heavier car unless you are willing to do 3000 mile full sythetic oil changes. 1200 cc is what Harley Davidson uses on the smaller sportster motorcycle.
Why this obsession with all wheel drive? Unnecessary added complexity and cost. I live in the snow belt. Winter tires and traction control are enough
I agree with you. Have lived in Canada for over 40 years and have never had AWD and had never needed it. Don't need to pay extra for a marketing gimmick.
I live in rural West Michigan with "Lake Effect Snow" and both my wife and I have AWD Jeep Grand Cherokees to drive the rural roads which are not plowed until about 11 AM. Once you have AWD in the snow belt you will not want FWD.
In my experience in the snow belt (think Buffalo NY levels of snow), doctors and emergency people need it. For the rest of us we just wait for the plows and salters to clean the roads, as such we almost never need AWD.
I feel like your expectations for this car was too high. The engine inside of it is completely suitable for the car and the people who would buy it.
Also, most other people are getting close mpg to what was expected, so I don't know how you got such bad fuel economy in your testing.

If you want power get a Camaro I have a 2RS and I love it. Heated seats and steering wheel , sunroof. I had the Trailblazer and used all wheel drive 3 times. It’s a great deal for the money. You are looking for a Lexus at 26.000
It is faster by the way than the old Trax….I’m a salesman at a Chevy dealership and have driven both of course and my gf bought one. Absolutely loves it. You can’t compare a AT4 truck with a Chevy Trax either 🤣. It’s cheap for a reason. And worth what it has. My girl traded on her Honda civic and loves the Trax.

At least the Chevy Trax RS package is 1/2 price of the rest of these SUV's. The 3 cylinder 1.2 Turbo might sound tiny at 137HP, But there are those of us who remember a different Chevy car that had a 3 cylinder 1.0 that only got 55HP, but also 55mpg making the Sprint a great commuter. Too early to declare it an all-around flop.
And don't forget that thanks to the turbo it also produces 162 lb-ft of TORQUE down at only 2500 RPM, which should result in decent acceleration, making it feel relatively 'peppy' despite an overall lack of power. I mean, that's 30 lb-ft MORE torque than my old Civic Si, and that was supposed to be sporty 'performance' car!

For the price of a base model to the top of the line 2rs and activ trim, this car is amazing. You get a lot for the price and if you want a bigger engine and AWD, then choose the trailblazer. This is an awesome crossover suv in my opinion.

I'm not going to lie. I am looking for a cheap car and I understand that certain things won't be available on said cheap car. I also understand it's not likely going to be built as nice as a car that cost twice as much. One of the things I'm looking for is at least a comfortable seat due to my joint issues. I have heard it said that the seats aren't comfortable and I know there is no lumbar option. I'm going to at least need lumbar and good ground clearance. So I'm going to wait for the Buick Envista. It's a little bit more expensive but still in my price range.
Also, I keep reminding myself that cheap cars mean tiny engines and I'll just have to get over it.
My 2010 Equinox seat was horrible and I got a blood clot in my knee because of it. My 2024 Trax is perfectly fine for me and it does have lumbar support. Don't believe anything this crappy reviewer says judging this against something not at all comparable.
I too need ergonomic seats with automatic adjustment and a heated steering wheel. i fell in love with a Hyundai Venue I rented in the summer though so am debating between that, and the Chevy Trax mostly.
I really was looking forward to getting a Chevy Trax. When I saw this review I was totally bummed. The replies have helped change my mind a bit, but I’m hoping it’s not junk.
For the price of my 2024 Trax it's a great deal. It's getting 33.8 mpg around town and drives good for a lighter vehicle. Acceleration is impressive for 1.2 liters but it's not a 50,000 dollar car, shouldn't be compared with it. Finding a $25000 better car my be hard to do

I ordered a 2RS a little while ago waiting for it to come in. This is the first video that has anything bad to say about it. But it's just what I was looking for. You can beat the price . My current lease on my Equinox Premier is up in November looking to get a lower payment This is not a plan ride and I would feel ok driving this around. Yes there are cars out there but you going to pay for that. I currently have 14000 miles on my Equinox so I don't do a lot of driving. With a 3 year lease I get 3 year 36000 mile bumper to bumper coverage so it's a no brainier. Can't wait for it to come in !

I just bought one and it's a piece of garbage. It's already in the shop. No power, reduced engine power light on, burns oil like nobody's business, and not great fuel economy. 3 cylinder engine. But I could afford nothing better.
Sounds like you're trying to use it as a sports car, it's not..... I bought mine last month, runs great, sounds great, smells great, and it's affordable, sorry you're having your troubles, but mine along with the many others below are not garbage....

I live in Pittsburgh PA and if you know anything about the town you would feel at home with all the hills and rain. I was a little leary about the 3 cylinder having enough power myself, but i have to say I'm pleased as punch with the performance.
I rented one and I liked it! It was plenty zippy around town

'probably'? Based on what? Do people realize that auto manufacturers tend to run SIMULATIONS on most components these days? I'm sure Chevrolet has run simulations of this engine and have a fairly accurate idea of what components are likely to wear out and how long it's likely to function.

Could someone who has owned this vehicle for some time please tell me how it handles going up very long inclines.
There are a few around my area that I dont think that motor can handle.
In 5 months I haven't had many mountains to climb and I probably will take my AWD Santa Fe to Colorado but on non-steep mountains it has no problem with long uphill reasonably steep climbs.
I wonder if anyone responsible for this obvious hit piece has ever really driven one...
This is a clear example of not trusting all the videos you can find over here on TH-cam, Let's be objective, I had high-end pickup trucks and sports cars before, We decided to buy the Trax RS 2024 for my wife's everyday work and we've been driving it for the past 4 months, this car is amazing. The interior looks amazing, you may call it cheap plastic but I have seen so many "high-end" interiors that do not even match in innovation and good looking as this one, I was initially worried about the engine, however, it is working perfectly fine, considering the car's weight, engine and transmission, it will give you an outstanding performance for this price. I had always avoided GM in the past, but kudos to the Korean team for making this one, we need more innovation like this.

I have the 2RS and it is amazing. It is very peppy for a 3cyl. It keeps up with traffic and goes up hills with no strain or hesitant at all. Disregard this video. I can tell you it is well worth the price.
Geee...I can't take it to the race track? Geee...I can't drive it through the woods in a snow storm? I'll just have to settle for a very affordable, great looking car. The finance guy at my dealership tried to sell me a extended warranty, saying "you have that 3 cylinder engine, better get the extra warranty" I wonder where he is working now.
I just wish GM, or any American car maker would sell an actual car again. I really don't want a CUV. Would like a mid-size car that has a wagon version. AWD is not needed, most people who have it will never need it anyway.

I have driven lots of times in snow with fwd. The Trax was made to take care of 85% of driving; urban short trips.
It's not "underpowered ".

Once a year. The Trax is geared for " normal" adult driving, not red light racers.

I would drive that. I'm driving a 22 Equinox now. My wife bought the Equinox online. I was like why? Turns out I love it and we need another.
I really like the Trax we purchased in May., but then we had problem with the audio it would not turn off came on full blast even with the key out. It has been at the dealership for a month with no ETA on the parts. Has anyone else had this problem or heard anything about it?
This Car is Built In South Korea By Daewoo with 4% North American Parts and 96% offshore. If they can't fix your radio due to lack of parts good luck if you have a fender bender and need collision shop parts your car would be tied up for months.
I just purchased the LT trim and I have nothing bad to say about this vehicle. I own a 2006 Pontiac Torrent and I am getting used to the ride on the Trax (which is still comfortable). You guys just do not want to give good kudos to this CUV.
I just picked up my 2024 Trax 2RS today, drove 200 miles home through a lot of driving types and had no issues. I lovet this car. I will agree the transmission is a bit sluggish but I still love this car and you can’t beat it for the price. Handling on windy roads is exceptionally fun and stable. This is a ridiculous video that seems to have been made to try to sell foreign competitors. Great mileage as well, your stated mpg is absolutely false. I drove over 80 mph the majority of my trip, and even up to 95 at times and the mileage was still around 30 mpg. Beautiful design and great features, especially for the price. This is a market leader in my opinion.
Break that engine in easy and get your first oil change at 1000 miles.

My 75 year old father just bought one and it sounds like the powertrain should be perfectly adequate to get him back and forth to the golf course a few times a week! My only concern is how do these 1.5L 3cyl turbos handle long distance highway cruising for occasional 3-4 hour drives to the cottage? Like, what RPM are they doing at 120km/h?
@@StreetPreacherr I don’t know the RPM but I have driven on the highway for over 3 hours. That was the first day I bought it because I had to go a long way to find one, 3.5 hours. Most was highway and it drove great at highway speeds.
For the money, it's a wonderful option to buying used, where you may have little or no warranty left. This video rates it like it starts around $35K. One thing I think really makes it scream cheap is the door armrests are hard plastic, hard to believe Chevy did that.
I disagree, I think comparing it to the similarly priced Mazda is fair. The CX-30 drives better, has AWD, more horsepower, a cleaner interior, leather, back vents, and full LEDs for just a ~$1,500 to ~$2,500 more. That said, it's much smaller, has sort of a cheap exterior, audio was unimpressive, not even a steering wheel heater, no rear leg room, no touch screen, no real digital gauge cluster, and few dealerships that are very cheap feeling.
Really the only two things that bother me about the Trax is no rear vents and probably too little horsepower. If you're not doing AWD, you shouldn't castrate the engine, but still it is a very nice car for the money

@@krismine99 the basic models in Canada are about $4000 (plus taxes) difference. And what is available is the other major problem. I personally prefer the mazda, but if I need somthing to just get mainly around town.... will save the $4000...
If you are interested in this type of CUV I would recommend also checking out the Nissan Kicks. Similar sized, priced and equipped. Excellent gas mileage, I get 40mpg on the highway consistently. I leased a 2019 SV, and am currently leasing a 2022 SV. Both have been dependable and problem free. I'm gonna take a close look at the Trax when my current lease is up, but I may just go into another Kicks probably.
This new Trax is amazing! You compare it to the Honda and Toyota, BUT, you don’t mention the Honda and Toyota cost way more then the Chevy trax. And hybrid would cost so much more! The trax is affordable @ $24,000 for a brand new car!! Honda and Toyota cannot do that! I’ll take a 3 cylinder turbo over paying $15,000 more for a Honda or a Toyota. The interior with two LED screens and a nice interior is great for a $25,000 NEW CAR! Every car has drawbacks, but this car cost is way cheaper.
For the price being charged and the level of equipment there is no comparison in the North American Market. It reminds of a Tata Harrier in India, and it is priced nearly the same way. The quality of the Trax is actually better than what would be just acceptable.
I bought the Activ Model. Cheyanne Orange witht he black rims looks sharp. I got 38 coming home from the dealer. I have gotten 40 MPG. I have had it a week. Drove around town for a few days and I would say it averages 30 with those days in town which is good for in town driving. I am going from a Ford Escape that got around 22 highway with a V6 Flex Fuel. If you lived in a very hilly area like a Tenn or Mo it might not be for you. But in a State Like IL its good. I drive it like a cruiser not a sports car. I hope it lasts I got 225000 out of the Ford Escape and still drives great.

You’re not gonna have AWD on a 3 cylinder vehicle. The motor is so small and light you won’t need it. The natural weight of the car will allow it to ride nicely enough through snow. I used to have a 2002 carolla with 125hp. Drive like a dream with FWD through any weather
I very much love my 2024 Chevy Trax Rs. It's been nice, I think people forget the price point on it. I don't need a sports car, just a nice-looking looking reliable vehicle. This Trax gets it done!!! I very much love this vehicle so far.
You may have heard the expression, "damned by faint praise." Well, this video came across to me a "praise by faint damning." I don't want all wheel drive or a hybrid. It is roomy, sharp looking and dang inexpensive in this day and age. The person who created this video needs to seek gainful employment. Note: I am far from a big GM (under Mary Barra) fan.
The six-speed automatic is far better than CVT. The Trax is very good-looking, but I question the 1.2L three-cylinder engine for longevity.
Make all those changes, and you have another 45K dollar car. Brilliant idea. Smh
The 1.2 L 3 cylinderTurbo engine is a deal breaker for me - it should have been a 1.5 or 1.6 L Turbo 4 cylinder . The rest of the vehicle is just fine for the price.

Try living in the mountains and see how that holds out. In fact, like cars of old, they should offer different motors, you could get in a 1971 Chevelle a 250, 307, 350, 396, 402, 454, and there was different transmissions, rear gears, and other options, they've taken all that way.@@Himmm2
Can't beat the price for the looks.👍 Especially in this economic times. Other brands like Honda and Kia have high markup over MSRP. Honda had an $8,000 higher than MSRP and said it started at $22,000. I couldn't afford that Kia and Hyndai wanted $2,500 to $3,500 above MSRP. Mazda said they will sell at MSRP$25,000 but, kept adding on and ended up over $28,500 without the taxes and destination fees. This is the best in the class. Actually, it's in a class of it's own. There truly is no comparison. Surprised they still make a car around $21,000.
I am considering selling my gas guzzler pickup truck since the new ones are twice what they should cost.I am thinking about getting a Trax. Better things to spend money on then gas and why not I am not in a hurry.I love to drive the speed limit and drive the bad drivers crazy.
I got a 2024 Chevy TRAX because of a trade in for my totaled Chevy SS Sedan.
I wanted to get a car that I wasn't going to drive so fand so carelessly at my age.
I was allowed $25500 by the Chevrolet dealership.
I needed a car.
I saw the Chevy TRAX and I was attracted to it immediately.
I drove it...
I liked it...
I signed the papers.
I like this car.
It was this or a trailblazer and 2 week's ago went with a 2021 trailblazer. It has a 3 year bumper to bumper and felt much more premium. Plus i got a panoramic sunroof so if my 1.3 cylinder ever dies i can atleast lay in it to stargaze(jk) lol. But no for real i love it and it has awd with 155hp.
This might be a good rental or lease car. How many of these will last 6-10 Years?

I have a 2022 Chevy trailblazer with the 1.3 liter turbo, the engine has plenty of power, it rides nice, is quiet and has many safety and comfort features. 31 mpg, mid $20,000 ,love it.
Don't worry about the power, because there will be folks out there who will create a road tune.
My 17 cruze has a road tune on her. She is pushing 200hp, which only cost me around $700. Plus, a good tuner will fix the transmission shifting and other flaws if applicable.😮
Only question is what will have problems first, the dinky 1.2 engine or the turbo that will destroy it?

At first I watched the video thinking that some gear head with a heavy right foot put this together. But as I watched it, I agree that you do bring up some valid concerns. I’m currently not in the market for a new vehicle but I am always interested in what’s available. Obviously I would have to drive one before deciding whether or not it would be a good choice for me, but I would prefer to rent one for a few days. A longer test drive would eliminate the emotional aspect. I shouldn’t have to wait long. Undoubtedly these will end up in rental fleets soon enough.

This is what they said when I bought a Geo Metro I 2009 and I still own it and thinking of purchasing a trax.
I would much prefer something along the lines of a 2.4 liter non turbo engine. I would gladly give up a couple miles per gallon over long term reliability.
I see where you’re headed with this, but I drove the 2.4 (non turbo) in my first vehicle and I vowed…”never again”, under powered, problematic and of course terribly outdated! So far I’ve driven the 1.2 L3 turbo, the 1.4 L4 turbo, the 1.5 L4 turbo, and the 1.8 L4 non turbo, and I’d rather pick any one of these over that pathetic 2.4 any day. Even the 1.8 non turbo was a ‘gem’ in comparison, very fun.
@@marioeduardoferreiraruiz And I'm guessing that the TURBO in the Trax means it probably also has more TORQUE than the larger Naturally Aspirated engine? I figure that 162 lb-ft of TORQUE at only 2500RPM should make it feel fairly 'peppy' despite the relatively low HP...

I just bought an LT and absolutely love it, much more comfortable than the 2019 Trax LT i traded in for it. It has literally all the bells and whistles that the 2RS and Activ have except for a power seat. Don't think it makes a difference since I'm the only driver in the house.
I was just at a Chevy dealer, I saw the Trax Rs. I like the design of the car but when I read that it had a 1.2 liter engine I was like wtf....

Alot pepper than you would think. No problem going up hills and keeping up with traffic. Not one bit sluggish.

I love the look of the new Trax but I was really surprised at the motor. I would love to see a big 4cyl in there, like a turbo 2.5. Otherwise they seem awesome for their market level.

Okay so…this is pushing it! This model is not meant to compete with a luxury, sports vehicle…or a Tahoe, this is an economy model, and it is intended to be comparable to both the Chevrolet Cruze and Sonic, and back in the day it used to be a step-up from the Chevrolet Spark. This is something you buy, use-up an then throw away, because IT IS VERY CHEAP! Back in the day I purchased mine, new (2015 LS FWD) for $15,600…and yes, this is a vehicle that in no way could ever replace an actual crossover, a sports car, or any luxury model you are accustomed to. So if you ONLY buy THE BEST…even if you have to buy ‘used’, this vehicle is not for you…YOU.WILL.HATE.IT! However, if you can’t afford to buy ‘new’, or ‘used’ luxury or sport…and you ABSOLUTELY need something new to get you from one place to another, and you don’t want to use ‘public transportation’ because it’s beneath you…then this could be an option, at least until you’re able to get back on that ‘used’ Mazda or Toyota. Have in mind the base model of this vehicle starts at $22,000, so this is strictly just an ‘economy’ car…this is a Chevrolet Cruze or Sonic under a different name, this is not a Mercedes Benz or a BMW. 🙄

The cheapest Trax configuration totals $21,495 including destination and with ever increasing fuel prices mixed with inflation, an inexpensive and economical vehicle could help a lot of people. Does that mean there's some tradeoffs? Sure, but that's to be expected at this price point.
The Toyota Corolla Cross does not come with AWD standard and with that option selected on the lowest trim, the total is $26,260 with destination, making it nearly $5,000 more than the lowest trim Trax. The CX-30 does have AWD standard and with destination, the total is also nearly $5,000 more than the Trax at $26,370 with destination.
If someone wants a Chevy AWD option of the Trax, then the Trailblazer AWD on the lowest trim is $26,395 with desination, which makes this vehicle more comparable to the Corolla Cross and CX-30. The Trailblazer offers you a lot more rear legroom than either the Mazda or Toyota, too.
No one mentioned that the Trax wasn’t made in Canada or the US, but in Mexico, China and Korea. Enough has been written about the lack of quality and reliability in cars made in those countries. (all the Trax assembly plants are located outside the United States. The locations include Bupyeong-Gu, Incheon, South Korea; Shanghai, China; Asaka, Uzbekistan; San Luis, Potosi, Mexico)

I'm fine with the power. I don't drive Nascar. I just need to get to work. My current 25 year old vehicle is probably slower. And I get along fine. I'll likely still buy one soon.
I've got 10000 miles on my rs and love it. 34 miles per gallon average. Plenty of pep .probably not for 8 cylinder people. Vroom Vroom
