Boris - Flood [ HQ Full ]

- The entire masterpiece
Atsuo Mizuno - drums, percussion, vocals
Takeshi Ohtani - bass, guitars, vocals
Wata - guitars, EBow
Only one song is listed, but it is split into 4 parts on the disc.
"
"Flood I" consists basically of a guitar riff which is repeated and modulated throughout the song; echoing drums and noises are inserted near the end. The noises culminate on the beginning of "Flood II". "Flood II" is a minimalist, psychedelic rock song. Slow drums, calm chord progressions and a guitar solo fill this track. "Flood III" starts with a calm guitar riff from the previous section; the same riff is repeated on a heavily distorted guitar that looms in from the background. The song evolves into an epic doom piece, with vocals performed by Atsuo and Takeshi in unison. The song reaches its climax, and a riff is repeated on the bass while noises and echoes from the distorted guitar fill the background. "Flood IV" consists primarily of this, with the noises strengthened, and a clean guitar that plays some notes for a while.

This is one of the best pieces of music ever written in my opinion. Please tell me I'm not the only sober one who thoroughly enjoyed this!
You’re not lying 100%
The best.
I'm 13 and this is my favorite heavy rock music. Thumbs up for heavy rock!
Saw boris when i was 17, almost 8 years ago. they ended with the third section. then sunn o))) came out right after and after that lemme tell ya, i was floored.
+Grant Gordon Damn, that sounds incredible
+ShellacSoup Oh, believe me, it was!! That was so long ago though, I can't believe it.. Been about ten years since at this point 0_o
Bad ass.
Lucky
It feels like it's been years since this started playing, but it's only been 18 minutes...Everything feels so far away.
...I love Boris.
after a long day at work.... yes
one of the greatest pieces of music in recent time, but in the whole of history this album night not stand as high. As a metal album, its originality and beauty are undeniable.
Great for sleeping... And then waking the fuck up
Thank you for both liking ponies and Boris. It's really quite refreshing.
it is ridiculous how mystical this album becomes when you listen to it deeply for a long time
The single greatest doom/ambient metal song ever.
one of the most atmospheric albums ever created
Makes me think about the woman I love...
No composition/song drives me more emotionally than this one. Boris are gods. Thank you for uploading this, man.
Well, I listened to the hole album paying attention to every detail and I can say that it's an interesting album. It has a lot of textures and ideas that you don't hear very often so it was nice to hear.
Whole *
Ha. As I was listening at first I was wondering what was going on because the same chords had been playing for 5 minutes at least, which was relaxing but kind of odd. But then slowly but surely the rumbling started and I knew something great was in store for me.
What a journey. Fantastic album.
This song makes me Reflect on my whole life, and decisions taken at certain points. Diverting my life from its main path, trying to put it back together, deeply talking to my subconscious, Its soothing for my soul, i feel i can just fly away. So beautiful
Just saw them in Chicago for the two-night show -- what a surreal experience. I was able to get a Atsuo's setlist the second night. Words really can't describe how perfect both shows were.
This is a masterpiece.
I just ordered the Vinyl. Can't wait.
What magic is this? Oh my god! I love it! *runs off to explore more of this magical music*
thanks for uploading :D
DUDE YES! Part four is so chilling and ambient! It's absolutely beautiful :D
This is the first Drone Doom album i listened in its entirety and i have to say that it needs a lot of attention. But i feel like if you do pay attention and actually listen you can really appreciate it.I dont know its different, but in some way i like it.
You're already comparatively more interesting than your peers will probably ever be, way to go :D
simply astounding
Great song. takes you on a journey man.
This album is a masterpiece
i love everything by boris but this is the one i keep coming back to the most
This is amazing.
Thank you, thousis, thank you so much.
I turn 20 tonight, whiskey in the dark and Boris it is.
Amazing. Just Fantastic!
Beautiful, thank you so much for posting. Luckily years of listening to the Melvins and Earth have taught me patience. I give it an 11. If I wasn't sober right now, it's be a 12.
A beautifully dense album, probably my favorite from them. They need to get back to this.
saw this live last night. most incredible show i've ever been to.
perfect...
great stuff
I saw the Perth gig of the same tour. It was my first time seeing them live too, but I was not familiar with them at all before that. I absolutely loved it and have been listening to them ever since.
Just blows me away every time I listen to this.
Yeah, it's a truly gorgeous and eclectic album. Satisfies a very specific musical itch, probably from the hipster in me.
I was there as well. For both nights. OMG was Flood amazing live. The whole second show was just an awesome drone/doom experience.
So it seems Boris will be doing two show gigs in select cities in May, in the US. Large portions of Flood will be part of the second night setlist, I've been hoping to hear this live for a while now. Should be amazing!
Have tickets for both Seattle nights and hopefully making it up there. Fuuuuck, can't wait.
pure genius... so many train journeys fulfilled.
such a great album
This album is my jam lately, 10/10 would bang
the only thing in the world that could follow my state of thought at this point in time
I...I have no words that can describe this song. I freaking cried. And I don't cry.
same here. can't fucking wait!
time and time again I come back to this album. truly one of the best
+vaginaaaaa -totally agree. just love it
34:28 is prob one of my favorite riffs of all time
O final atmosférico no final da primeira parte, insano.
I was there, it was amazing. I totally agree!
that first 12 minutes felt like an amazingly longer time like hours feels like im falling through a perspective of japans GIANT TSUNAMI FLOODS. Prays out to those still most likely suffering from it.
in reply to myself, this album is one of those jewels that finishes half an hour before you realise it has
After listening to this, nr. 1 on my "HAVE TO-do- list" is to see this band live one day. :-O Amazing!
Perfect music for falling asleep to.
Playing the entire album live in Sydney on the 21st June. Looking forward to it!
Sublime
Just saw them play it in Boston-it was an incredible experience
Pretty sure 99% of everyone here must be stoned out of their minds.
I have only had two hours of sleep and this is sounding fucking spacey and unbelievably trippy. I'm only 5 minutes in and it feels like it's been hours.
Amazing. That's the only way to describe it.
This should more or less be the timestamps for each song:
Flood I 0:00
Flood II 14:42
Flood III 28:17
Flood VI 48:55
Who skips to different songs on the album flood... it is a musical masterpiece that requires consecutive listening of each song.
People who don't like pretending to be pompous musical elitists and/or hipsters?
I respect you decision to listen to whatever song on the album that you desire. It just puzzles me why you would want to do that. It is comparable to watching the original Star Wars trilogy in a convoluted order, it just won't make sense. Particular artists like Boris create albums that are made to be listened to in consecutive order; they build the music up throughout the album until a final crescendo. Skipping around is like passing on the entree and going right to dessert.
because maybe I wanna check one or two tracks but don't have the time or interest in jamming the whole thing, or maybe I think that first fifteen minutes is kind of annoying and I want to skip it, or maybe I'm a normal person who doesn't feel the need to constantly indulge in the artsy fartsy and instead desire to simply listen to the tracks I like the most instead of entire records I don't wholly enjoy? Close your eyes and pick any of those; they're all rational reasons.
Many many artists from many different genres design their albums to be listened to consecutively. Albums are generally reviewed with that being an expected thing. It isn't unique to Boris and it isn't a reason you can't enjoy a single song from an album.
Seeing them on the 19th in Melbourne! So hyped that they're playing Flood in its entirety - but according to a recent interview it's been cut down to around 40 minutes.
Amazing album
I know it’s 5 years later but I just wanted to say, I love your Rei Ayanami picture. Evangelion is the absolute best.
I think this song is hypnotizing into thinking it's really good.
Second night was excellent ... including v of My Bloody V's "Sometime" .
Too good !
Technically, by how the tracks are separated on the CD, it's four different movements that just smoothly fade into one another. Honestly though, if you regularly listen to music in album-order, one hour isn't even that long.
! I fucking love this album.
I'm seeing this band in a month because they're going to play Pink in its entirety. I'm excited, but I confess that I'd much rather hear them play through Flood.
Same here man but hey Pink live will be great! Seeing them in Seattle can't wait
+Hagan Gatsu seeing them. In Cleveland. Apparently their live shows are God tier
Their live show was insane, thats all I could say, the drone parts blew me away, and the noise parts had me thanking the heavens I had ear plugs. 10/10
Absolutely man their live show was an unforgettable experience for me. So true about the ear plugs because wow did it get loud haha
I hope you saw them last year man. They played not only part 2 and 3 of Flood, but also Feedbacker. It was one of the best setlists I've ever seen a band play.
It was their 25th anniversary tour, so it makes sense why they played so many of their greats... but just let me say that it was an experience that will forever be unmatched.
YEA!!
Seeing this tomorrow in DC!
Fuck, I didn't write how awesome is this track.
But actually "The entire masterpiece" is the best description I could think about. Thanks, thousis!
just finished the song.. while doing my office work... it's really a good background music...
MasterPiece. This is my Flood Album Analyse : Flood I - The rains started, droplets and more droplets but no one believe that this light rain will become to a flood in few hours.Flood II - The rains doesn't want to stop and began to be stronger and stronger, so much water are falling from the dark sky that people began to realise that a flood is comming soon.Flood III - The mother nature showed her power by a strong and terrible flood, so many people died and all the survivals stayed without their houses looking for missing family members . Very sad moments, people are still in shock and cries alot.Flood IV - Finally the rain stopped but the chaos is still present so now will begin a very sad silence and the flood can not wash the tears from the survivals.Dedicated to all the families who lost their loved ones in the flood.Mickael Bismuth 12/03/2018
Bet
yes man... you must listen to them if you didn't already :)
I was there both nights and I saw you-I was directly in front of the stage to the left side, wearing a Mastodon hoodie
Listened to this while hearing the book audio for I have no mouth and I must scream... My god it synced perfectly...
本当に美しい。
@pooperer321 I'm so sorry, something probably went wrong while i was putting the parts together, about 30 seconds are missing :/ bummer..
If you want I can reupload the song, and in HD this time, just thumb up this comment to let me know
RUB YOUR EYES UNTIL YOU SEE THE STARS AND LET THEM GUIDE YOU HOME

Steve Reich up in here.
:D
This like being on various different drugs at once.
adding to favorites for when I'm stoned. I can't listen to that now lol.
@jmilco Hi! I just saw one day in my homepage if i remember correctly, that I can post longer videos than 15 mins.. :) I don't know the exact reason, but I think it's available to everyone
i saw the second night in Chicago. and i agree w/ cowdogfrog... it was absolutely amazing.
Japanese are awesome, If you know a semi-popular foreign noise-rock band chances are they are Japanese.
kid a! nice. best radiohead album
@PerfectTre i didnt understand what you say, if you mean that's getting too long, just let it grow in you. Have a nice pair of headphones close the lights and your eyes and just let it flow ;)
the 13 year old knows this is heavy and boris is mighty that it just is so hes right thumbs up for bitch kicking rock n roll!
I've listened to it quite a bit sober, but mushrooms are fun with music 8D
that's awesome. i have been in boston about a year and i'm always looking for stuff to do (especially if it's free or unreasonably cheap). know any good hangout spots in general, especially with the free/unreasonably cheap criteria in mind? trying to make friends here.
You're welcome :)
I was at both shows too. I thought the second night was the highlight.
Wow im really digging this. I wrote off drone because of sunn.
yeah, sunn can be hard to get into, check out their album they did with boris, Altar, or check out the album black one. and I highly recommend the song my wall
Love the phasing technique, for those who don't know, listen to Piano Phase by Steve Reich, you won't be disappointed..
Anyone have any idea what the lyrics are? Can't find them anywhere.
oh, I have too... but is the vinyl one of "Lift your skinny fists like antennas to heaven".. its duration time is 87:21.. a very powerful trip in the night
This fuckin rulez
is this post rock rock or doom or ambient metal
what ever its amazing....if you like boris check out the stuff they did with merzbow
i ain't high and i'm loving this shit
