Thanks for your heart felt words, great encouragement to me. I am enjoying and learning while testing and producing these product videos. Doing what I can to help anyone out looking for these products.
I've just got an offer on this laptop but I learned a lot from here and now I am confident in my ability to discuss the specifications with my supplier ... thanks a lot
Superb review! Don't seem to be many reviews out for 7750 yet, and this was super comprehensive. Thanks for going through so many different factors that are relevant real world use.
Glad I can be of service Gadi Cohen and that it was useful. I try my best to give relevant information for real world use rather then just what I could find from datasheets.
exactly, not the crap gaming idiots are looking for. I am really really impressed by this review. The PWM review was so eye opening. Unfortunately, it's a deal breaker for me.
Excellent video that covers just about everything! I love the Dell Precision Mobile Workstations and this thing is a beast as far as specs go. However, I'm not a fan of the modern form factor and for me the peak of this product line is the M6800 that has the perfect combination of old meets new, with a fantastic selection of legacy and modern connectivity, ports, and other options. Some things that the M6800 does better than the 7750 include (in my opinion)... more ports, only two screws to get inside it, no screws holding the battery in place, SIM Card can be inserted or removed without taking the casing off, dedicated docking connector, touchscreen display option, hot-swappable hard drive caddy, hot-swappable optical disc drive, RAID configurable storage, traditional keyboard (not chiclet), full-sized arrow keys, trackpoint with dedicated buttons as well as trackpad, dedicated volume buttons, two sets of activity indicator lights, backlit keyboard option, latch to keep lid closed during transport. Oh, and it fully, natively, supported Windows 7 that was an operating system option from the factory. Those are the things that I can think of off the top of my head.
Totally agree with you. There was even more good things about 6700&6800 series like ability to use docking stations without any "penalties", also you could upgrade/replace VGA if you need and many more good stuff. Back then those machines looked more premium-class compared to this one today, imo.
@@MajinGohanSSJ2 Yeah with the docking station the M6800, etc. feels like a true desktop replacement and almost becomes part of the machine itself, rather than being plugged in as a mere accessory with flimsy USB-C connectors that apparently can be yanked out pretty easily. Yes literally every component of the older models are fully replaceable. And I agree, they really do look and feel premium and offered much more value for money due to them being laced with many more features and functions. Companies just seem to go for raw power these days without the accessibility but even the most powerful computer in the world is reduced to being a glorified paperweight if you can't plug anything in to it or service it.
@@FlyboyHelosim The market seems to be dictating the rules today. All computers strive to be like "Apple". Minimalist design, minimal ports and integrated components. What else do you need for benchmark-oriented customers? :) People like me and maybe you (engineers, etc.) need a lot of ports (I simultaneously use 7 USB ports and sometimes even the old COM port to connect to old-style equipment). I have used this series of PCs for many years, my 6700 has been heavily upgraded 2 times (the best i7qm (gen3) processor, 8GB nvidia 980m, etc.), but today a newer system is required and I already have to look at other manufacturers. Just thinking out loud ..
Wow! Just stumbled upon your channel today and you definitely have yourself a new subscriber! I can honestly say this is the best and most thorough review of a laptop I've ever seen (and I'm a tech head who watches tons of 'em!!). Really appreciate the detail you went into, including actually demonstrating the webcam in normal/non studio lighting! I wish more reviewers did this! Thanks so much!!
Thank you very much Mad Catter, really appreciated you leaving me a fabulous feedback. I am trying to learn to cut down the length of time on the videos as they are getting longer as I am doing more tests on them, trying to work out which are useful and which not so important and feedback like yours provides me direction on should I keep that section or not. Thanks for the sub, hopefully I won't disappoint and I able to provide nice information on our journey together.
Thank you very much. For this laptop I have the chance to take different Ram Memories. Considering that I want a 32Gb, Should I buy a 32 Go, 4 x 8 Go, de mémoire DDR4 non ECC à 2 933 MHz or a 32 Go, 2 x 16 Go, de mémoire DDR4 non ECC à 2 933 MHz? For both of them the price is the same.
very important point that Dell first uses the ram slots under keyboard. i had to rip my keyboard out for upgrade - pain in the ass. better off filling the first 2 ram slots with the rams you want in there so you don't have to do that !
Docking station is over $300. Is there a cheaper solution? I don’t mind plugging in the smaller charger but I do have a problem with hassling with ethernet, mouse, and keyboard. Is there a smaller USB-C adapter hub that will work?
I have no words left to praise you..... an every corner touched explained video 🤘🏻...... I have a question too, how do you get these laptops for review? Do you write some mails to the company or what ... can you please explain the whole process... I would also like to do the same... thank you
Thanks very much Adarsh. I will be doing a live stream to celebrate 3k subs join me for it, I will answer it there be easier for me to tell you that way =).
Hi, I hope all is well. I’m not a gamer, and I plan to use the Precision 7750 for live-streaming my art. It will be configured with the Quadro RTX 5000 GPU. I want the GPU to focus on the live-streaming. CPU should concentrate on other things. Regarding the CPU, I will go with the Xeon 108855M CPU. Do you have a video testing that combination or any thoughts? Can the laptop handle the above tasks? Thank you, Vye
Hi Vyacheslav Kantor, I am not sure what type of livestreaming software you use and style but personally I think you will find that the configuration though nice to see it very nicely speced it might be an overkill for your typical livestreaming. I'm also not sure of the amount of overlays or graphics effects you intend to run but personally I think even a i7 and the Quadro T1000 can handle it very nicely but if you want more speed for the graphics then move up to the RTX 3000. I might be wrong on the livestreaming software and effects your might be running but just thinking to try save you money.
That's a new product even for me, I normally touch Optiplex and Precisions in desktop range for Dell. I can place a request for the Dell XPS tower special edition to Dell and see if they will allow me to review it if there isn't much information about it.
@@BsianTech I was trying to figure out how they allowed me to option an i9 10900K on it when it came to cooling, and when I reached out to the techs, they were unable to explain how it cools that processor nor could they show me pictures of the cooler
Interesting now you got me looking into it as well, because we know how hot the i9 K is. Have a look at the service manual for the cooler: topics-cdn.dell.com/pdf/xps-8940-desktop_Service-Manual_en-us.pdf . Look at page 11 and 43 gives idea of the cooler. I don't see any extra housing to create a wind tunnel for the processor cooler interesting enough.
@@BsianTech The only thing I can think of is that Dell's cooler can only handle the 10900K's base TDP of 125 watts, but overheats during turbo. Those fans look tiny
@@BsianTech What if they ship with a different heatsink/cooler for the i5K, i7K and i9K models but don't show it on service manual pictures? I've seen Dell and HP do this before. Those 3 option CPU's have the 125W TDP
Not that I own an Apple laptop, but this isn't much cheaper than a MacBook Pro 16-inch. Sure, the switch from Windows will take some serious time (setting everything up just the way I like it). But I have the feeling if I move towards that I'll never look back.
I was wondering what you think of the Lenovo ThinkPad P17 as an alternative to the Dell Precision 7750 as I am debating which laptop to purchase. I understand the Nvidia RTX 4000 and 5000 Max-Q video cards may have a lower wattage than Dell's RTX equivalents which I am given to understand have no such limitations. Thank you.
Hi Ravi, I haven't touch the new ThinkPad P17 Gen 1 yet, I currently have the P15 gen 1 in my hands and about to release the review for it. From opening up the P15 and Precision 7550 I notice a few things that Dell has added in their case and backcover to assist with heat transfers plus trying to reflect heat where you won't want to. My thoughts it be the same for the 7750 and the P17 so overall I could see that the Dell has better thermal solution which means it can put in the more higher wattage graphics chip.
Awesome review. Thanks. Could i ask... does it void my warranty to open the back cover? I have this machine and want to add more m.2 nvme ssds. Also, do we need the small screws to install the m.2 ssd? Or are they already supplied in the m.2 ports?
Will give you honest truth the main difference between 7740 vs 7750 is the processor difference 7740 (9th Gen Intel) and 7750 (10th Gen Intel). There is a performance difference but if you saving a few hundred for sure look at the 7740. An i9 in the 7740 will beat a i7 in the 7750 just to let you know.
Update: I was wrong! 7740 came in 4k, too. Also, the 7750 has the vapor chamber, which seems to improve thermals for CPU or GPU better than the shared heatpipes of the 7740. It's also lighter and can be charged via USB-C. Those are the important differences for me, anyway.
Thanks very much Tarveez for the assistance. Sorry Prithwish Biswas I stop listing pricing in my videos since I realized my review videos are watched around the world and each country sells the devices at different pricing.
I have been thinking the whole year about moving to Passmark 10 but usually there is difference in the score itself, so to keep it consistant and ablity to compare to scores I have made in the past is why I still using Passmark 9. What I might do is do a dual score like I do for Cinebench R15 and R20.
@@psycl0ptic the precision 7750 has been returned back to Dell already but it was good reminder for me to get pass mark 10 anyway so you will see that extra score from here on in :).
The Precision 7750 and 7550 is way way better than the XPS in terms of throttling. I currently have both the XPS 13 9310 and XPS 15 9500 and can safely say if you want stability performance over time the 7 series is easily win but if you doing burst speed performance then the XPS 13 9310 will win for 16 seconds then it hands the baton down to 7 series.
WAY WAY WAY. I was blown away by that CPU flat line OP showed. I really was impressed. At 103F, holding it steady at 4.1GHz is amazing. i have a 5520 that throttles because core temps get to 80+F
Re-looking at the benchmarks, in all honesty from the results scores barely anything between the 7750 and 7550 having extremely similar configurations. If you are really curious, send me an email to bsiandad@bsiandad.com and I can email you back the spreadsheet for the scores I collected between the two. The 7750 and 7550 I reviewed had Quadro T1000 in them, so my personal thoughts are once you get the RTX GPU they would run hotter and then we might start to see a little, little difference in performance wise, the 7750 should be better since it physically had larger space to house larger fans and also more surface area for heat to dissipate throughout the laptop.
Hi Nawazish ali, to my knowledge you can't remove the processor, its should be soldered to the system board. So no upgrades for the processor once you have purchased the laptop configuration.
I am hoping the next revision they bring it to 16:10. For me I am afraid the XPS thermals can't keep up is the issue. They look nice but there is huge difference on thermals.
@@BsianTech Yah, XPS not good in thermal, but I get it for costumer looking for just respect performance and luxurious build that exactly what xps offers
@@rhh121 Yes completely understand that, I think I covered that in the Precision 5550 (Pratically the XPS 15) vs 7550. Looks and weight vs Performance. Once you know which category you are in it's much easier to work out which laptop is for you =).
@@BsianTech thanks for bringing this up. got burnt badly (figuratively ;)) with thermals on XPS 9570... did a repaste and added some thermal pads which made a huge difference but it was a big mistake sticking an i9 in it. I believe the 2020 models were all redesigned though... any thoughts on XPS 9700 / Precision 5750?
@@gadicohen2241 I have yet to get the 17" of these so I might try get my hands on the Precision 5750. My first thoughts would be it would perform better than the 15" since it has larger surface area and I think the fan blades are larger too so able to push more air out but I still don't think it is going to be ground breaking difference.
remember, this is not for your gamer or average email/web browsing use. people who buy this have specific tasks with the webcam at the lowest of lowest priorities. I can guarantee you (ok maybe too much) but those that buy or look into these are worried more about thermals, how much RAM can i shove into it, PWM and eye strain. They are not worried about webcams. Believe that
I've had this laptop for work almost a year. It was ok for quiet a while after i had the sleep issue fixed. But windows 10 21H2 broke the sleep state again. Hi friend! Thanks for all your videos, they are great and above all very educational. I studied industrial engineering, and I have decided to specialize in design, and I am studying the whole subject of the 3D world, design, modeling, rendering, texturing, animation, rotoscopy, color correction and more, not to mention that in my free time I want to enter the world of music production and video game programming and development ... but within all that world, I have been advised to buy a Mac computer or a 16-inch MacBook pro, so as not to suffer with data processing and also graphics . But after watching your videos, I have become interested in the DELL PRECISION 7750, with the features: * Intel Xeon W-10885M (8 cores, 16MB cache, 2.40 GHz to 5.30 GHz, 45 W, vPro) * NVIDIA Quadro RTX 5000 w / 16GB GDDR6 * 32GB, 4x8GB, DDR4 2933MHz ECC Memory * M.2 512GB PCIe NVMe Class 40 Solid State Drive * 17.3 "UHD HDR400, 3840x2160, 60Hz, Anti-Glare, No-Touch, 100% Adobe, 500 Nits, WVA, CamMic / WWAN Well, the quote on the DELL page is $ 3950, and thank God, we are in the conditions to acquire it. But after doing some more research, I could see how much like the CPU and GPU cannot be upgraded because they are soldered to the base square. And now, they offer me in the city that I live, a DELL ALIENWARE 51M R2 with the following: * i9 10750H 2.6GH * RTX 2070 8GB (super) * 32 Ram DDR4 * 512Gb SSD 2Tb HDD * 17.3 IPS 300 HZ In the latter case, as I have been able to find out about this ALIENWARE 51M R2 model, there is the possibility of changing both the CPU and the GPU. Please allow me to consult you: Based on all your experience and according to the work traffic I need to do: Do you recommend a DELL PRECISION 7750, or an ALIENWARE 51M R2, or some other equipment that is better, or in the last case, do you recommend waiting for the presentation of the new 16-inch MacBook Pro with its new M1X processor? I really appreciate the service you provide to thousands of people around the world, with education and digital information, and excuse so much letter, but it is a strong investment, and I want to do it in a good team that can perform well, above all , because one of my projects is the production of video games and animated films in 2D and 3D for children with family principles and values. A hug from a distance! Atte. Alex La Paz, Bolivia.
Hi Alex, thanks for the nice feedback. I have actually played with both computers you mention, I'm actually testing the Alienware 51 R2 right now. since you are studying I think you are better to go with the Alienware as it should be cheaper than the precision. If you are paid to do projects already I would then look to the Precision 7750. The reason I would say this is purely the cost and as a student, the error correction and stability factor isn't as high compare to the price factor. If you are a working professional then stability and error correction is very important compare to speed. The Alienware will be faster and again this is due to the whole Quadro vs Geforce. One thing I not liking about the Alienware 51 R2 is the need for TWO large power adapters to make it work, they are heavy and large! As for the specs on both computers you provided are great and ideal for the applications you intend to use, well done on the good research =).

Is that a class 40 or class 50 ssd?
The one I had in the review unit was a class 40 Beefy Beef.
@@BsianTech thanks!. Do you know the difference between ckass 40 and 50?
what about throttling? is it better than XPS?
Is it also good for playing video games like apex legends?
This is not your gaming machine. I have no idea why people buy laptops for gaming. smh
@@asinegaasinega My dad bought me it for school a week ago and I wanted to know if I could play games on it😐Don’t t blame others idiot
I am curious, is there any performance difference in 7750 and 7550.?
Is there a bluetooth button?
Was this one the FHD or the UHD 4k screen?
The review unit came with the FHD this time round, Ben.
Please confirm if we can remove the processor???
Hi Nawazish ali, to my knowledge you can't remove the processor, its should be soldered to the system board. So no upgrades for the processor once you have purchased the laptop configuration.
Hello does this version has light on keyboard?
Hi António Brandão the Precision 7750 does come with a blacklit keyboard version, just request from Dell when you order it =).
This is about 7750 but named 7550
Yeah it's a typing mistake don't mind it
Sorry about that really late night upload, thanks for catching that, I fixed it now, this is the review for the 7750.
Thanks Arya, was a straight 7 hour video edit and by time I uploaded my mind got tired
@@BsianTech it's ok 👌🙆
The bad thing is screen ratio it should be 16:10 instead of 16:9, I get XPS 17 because ratio of screen
I am hoping the next revision they bring it to 16:10. For me I am afraid the XPS thermals can't keep up is the issue. They look nice but there is huge difference on thermals.
@@BsianTech
Yah, XPS not good in thermal, but I get it for costumer looking for just respect performance and luxurious build that exactly what xps offers
A 720p webcam. Wow.
I know, awaiting for 1080p to hit laptops =( still, I do keep suggesting manufacturers.
remember, this is not for your gamer or average email/web browsing use. people who buy this have specific tasks with the webcam at the lowest of lowest priorities. I can guarantee you (ok maybe too much) but those that buy or look into these are worried more about thermals, how much RAM can i shove into it, PWM and eye strain. They are not worried about webcams. Believe that
@@asinegaasinega but the really had to search for a 720p sensor didn't they?
I've had this laptop for work almost a year. It was ok for quiet a while after i had the sleep issue fixed. But windows 10 21H2 broke the sleep state again. All it does now is overheat and lockup if you leave it on for any period of time. I searched hi and low for a solution but there is none. Frustrating. Do not buy this laptop.
41 c back cover, this is why i get an cheaper laptop doesn't get hot like metal
also cpu and gpu mark scores can be seen against this dell precision

Might be dumb but does this run chrome?
what, you're kidding right. why are you looking at this channel if you are trying to run google chrome. bud, there are plenty of other laptops for 1/4 of the price of this laptopt that will run chrome effortlessly.

But after watching your videos, I have become interested in the DELL PRECISION 7750, with the features:
* Intel Xeon W-10885M (8 cores, 16MB cache, 2.40 GHz to 5.30 GHz, 45 W, vPro)
* NVIDIA Quadro RTX 5000 w / 16GB GDDR6
* 32GB, 4x8GB, DDR4 2933MHz ECC Memory
* M.2 512GB PCIe NVMe Class 40 Solid State Drive
* 17.3 "UHD HDR400, 3840x2160, 60Hz, Anti-Glare, No-Touch, 100% Adobe, 500 Nits, WVA, CamMic / WWAN
Well, the quote on the DELL page is $ 3950, and thank God, we are in the conditions to acquire it.
But after doing some more research, I could see how much like the CPU and GPU cannot be upgraded because they are soldered to the base square.
And now, they offer me in the city that I live, a DELL ALIENWARE 51M R2 with the following:
* i9 10750H 2.6GH
* RTX 2070 8GB (super)
* 32 Ram DDR4
* 512Gb SSD 2Tb HDD
* 17.3 IPS 300 HZ
In the latter case, as I have been able to find out about this ALIENWARE 51M R2 model, there is the possibility of changing both the CPU and the GPU.
Please allow me to consult you:
Based on all your experience and according to the work traffic I need to do: Do you recommend a DELL PRECISION 7750, or an ALIENWARE 51M R2, or some other equipment that is better, or in the last case, do you recommend waiting for the presentation of the new 16-inch MacBook Pro with its new M1X processor?
I really appreciate the service you provide to thousands of people around the world, with education and digital information, and excuse so much letter, but it is a strong investment, and I want to do it in a good team that can perform well, above all , because one of my projects is the production of video games and animated films in 2D and 3D for children with family principles and values.
A hug from a distance!
