    I just ordered this one and the middle button is actually used often in 3d workflows such as CAD, also under unixes the middle button works as a paste function for what is in you clipboard (automatically when you select a length of text).

      Thanks Martin that's absolutely so useful to know since I'm not a user of that type of applications and only just doing my best to help all the professionals out there as their virtual hands and eyes to looking at a product. Thank you and keep safe, and I hope you continue to join my other videos and provide fantastic informative feedback like this one! Stay healthy and safe Martin.

      Thank you for the kind feedback ugzz, I think I just don't have great optimization on TH-cam also, this mobile workstation is quite specialized and its price range is not for your average consumer. I will one day break through till then I will continue making good useful videos for you all.

      Thanks for the information Niklas, does the RTX models come with the 240W power adapters too beside the larger battery? Thanks very much it's great to hear the appreciation and support from Dell directly!

    • @Multivitamin02

      @@BsianTech Thanks for the reply. I just checked it: all 7550 models come with a 180W PSU regardless of the configuration (even i9 + RTX5000 + 500 nits 4K display). At least the EMEA (european models) devices. The 240W PSU is available for the 7750. I think the 7750 also has more aggressive power management options as it is larger and therefore better at handling the heat from the CPU/GPU. That might also explain why it gets the 240W PSU

    • @BsianTech
      @BsianTech  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Niklas thanks for checking it up for me, great learning about this all with you. I have the 7750 with me now as well and it is the next in-depth review coming up. I will see how the performance and thermals go as I got it spec nearly the same as the 7550 in this video so I can do closer comparison for performance, beside it having a larger screen the 7750. Another question if you able to find out, are both the 7550 and 7750 able to also run thunderbolt eGPU as well if they configure with say Quadro T1000 built-in the workstation. I understand this weird question but something people can have at their home or work desk if say they want to use a GeForce card for gaming or higher computing.

    • @Multivitamin02
      @Multivitamin02 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BsianTech realy looking forward to the review so that we can have a back to back comparison. I`ve actualy never thought about using an eGPU on those but as both have Thunderbolt that shouldnt be an issue. Sorry i have nothing bulet proof for that question

    • @BsianTech
      @BsianTech  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for your view on the subject on eGPU, I have asked the question to my Dell contacts here and just awaiting for a reply on this technical topic. Anyway Niklas I have uploaded the review for the 7750 you can see it here: th-cam.com/video/CuvFXk_5KjM/w-d-xo.html . I think I like to see if I can get the RTX 3000 or similar in the next round to see if that if the two will have more difference in performance or not.

    • @BsianTech

      Good choice we do have to sacrifice a bit of beauty and lightness for performance but think of it this way. The faster your work is done the more time you don't have to look at the computer hahahah. • @BsianTech
      @BsianTech  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks very much Calvin, it's worth giving the information you guys need. The recommended dock for the 7540 is Dell WD19DC just like the 7550, you need the twin USB-C connectors to provide enough power to it. Else you can go with the WD19TB dock then do my power adapter plug in first then plug in the Dock trick.

    I love the track pad on this device. At least one laptop vendor still create trackpads that are track pads ! They are hard to find these days. For the record, the XPS 15 apparently has a totally different one, which I don't like. A track pad should have physical buttons.

    You can use that middle click to close tabs in most internet browser ! I honestly don't know what else I use it for beside for some games but I feel like there is certain 3d modeling software that makes good use of that middle click as well. It's always great to have one more button at your fingertip that you can configure a macro for but let's be honest: I would never sit down and work with a touchpad anyway...

    Hi Brian, do we have any smaller charger for precision 7540 available I wonder? I need a smaller charger to carry around like 65w, thank you!

    • @BsianTech
      @BsianTech  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Chunkai Fu, unfortunately no there not really a smaller charger, I have tried the 130W power adapter that came with the Precision 5550 to charge the 7550 it will work but I had a Quadro T1000 discrete graphics in my review unit. I have placed a enquire to Dell to ask at what configuration point will the 7550 will require more than 130W power draw. They yet to get back to me still but my thoughts would be maybe once you go to the RTX 3000 in the 7550 it will require the 180W else it will just do a slower drain to the battery with the 130W plugged in.

    • @BsianTech

      Hi Dead Blue Screen, the Precision 7 series doesn't carry the same design or chassis as the XPS range, the precision 5000 series does however. So the Precision 7 series doesn't have the same issues as the XPS.

    Any idea, which ports in Dell 7550 use the external gpu? In my current laptop the Thunderbolt port uses apparently only the integrated intel gpu. I would use the DP port, but it got ripped away, and the HDMI port only supports up to 4K resolution.

    • @BsianTech
      @BsianTech  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mika, I have asked Dell regarding about egpu for the Precision 7550 and 7750. I am still awaiting for a reply from their team that handles the precision range. If I get a response I will respond to you straight away.

    • @mikariekki5708
      @mikariekki5708 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BsianTech Thx, I might have used a wrong word, I meant dedicated gpu. I tested today another Dell laptop, with a M2200 gpu, and its USB-C/Thunderbolt port seems to utilize dedicated gpu for everything. It doesn't even show the integrated Intel 630 gpu in Task Manager. I hope that's the case with 7550 also.
      I am getting a new 7550 sometime this year, and due to covid-19, had to upgrade my workspace at home with a display, which has been bit of a hassle to set up properly for my old computer, so I was thinking if I should keep it or not, also because the monitor needs another USB-A port for the hub to work.

    • @BsianTech
      @BsianTech  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mikariekki5708 From my understanding, it doesn't matter which display port you use including the thunderbolt, it will use intel gpu or discrete graphics depending on the task. You can in BIOS disable the intel graphics so it will force to use the discrete graphics. You can see me run both the intel and discrete graphics both at the same time on load in the performance section of this video. Are you looking to run both computers side by side? Sorry not understanding the USB-A issue you having mate?

    • @mikariekki5708
      @mikariekki5708 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BsianTech Ok. My old Alienware laptop (chosen for price/gpu performance) doesn't allow disabeling the integrated gpu from BIOS, so ie. in Autocad, the intel chip doesn't work properly with gpu acceleration on with my new monitor resolution, and is very slow if its turned off.
      Another USB-A to USB-B cable is needed for the monitors built in dock, instead being connected through a single USB-C cable for everything (except power).
      The new (ordered today) Dell 7550 with RTX5000 should be about 25% faster than my old GTX 1080, and it also seems to come with the 128Gb memory option, so thats nice for photoshop atleast. I have no idea if other programs can utilize that much properly. I guess I can keep more memory hog programs open at the same time. And ie. twinmotion can definately use more gpu ram, RTX 3000 has only 6 Gb vs 16 Gb on RTX 5000.
