    Mike, as usual your repairs is a work of art. Approaching methodically with patience and precision. One question because it wasn't clear to me. Those IC you called switches, are they actually logical gates?

    • @fairrepair_en
      @fairrepair_en  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Do you mean the three load switches located underneath the CPU?

      These switches open to let the required voltage flow in circuits which are supposed to be powered up later in the sequence.
      If I remember correct two were on the +1.05VALW track, so examples for the load side could be 1.0V VCCIO or 1.0V VCCST. Same applies to the 5V track here could be a connection from +5VALW to +5VS (S3 state) or +5V (S0 State). Best regards.

      @@fairrepair_enThanks for the reply Mike. I call these IC logic gates because this is how they work in theory. They enable an output based on a given input or inputs or they keep it disabled if the inputs are not all present.

      @nikolaskallianiotis8622 Simple mosfets are often used at these points, which are enabled at the right time.

      That's the Design of the DC-IN Curcuit which replaces the classic Hybrid Power Boost design on many systems these days.

    Hi Mike! I wonder, at 3V and 10mA at the PD controller, it is possible to be ok that cip. It warms, but not much, like a normal semiconductor device on power.

      If you mean the PD-Controller i dealt with, i am pretty sure it was dead. Static resistance was simply way to low. Best regards. Maybe i solder it back when the moment comes where i want to restore USB-C funcionality... :)

    that was a hell of the job!
    Without thermal camera impossible to do!
    What type of the camera are you using?

    recycle centers sell these machines no hd no memory usually for parts but people buy and add the memory and drives back to try to repair or some are from dumpsters

    • @neovita3818
      @neovita3818 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That device didn't came from a recycle center. And if the author would not have my other and longer comment deleted, we would be able to read the whole story.
      Long story short: Mike didn't read, what he were bidding for on ebay. The description of the auction was very clear about a device being sold with liquid damage, after a refused repair, with SSD and Power Supply not being part of the auction. End of story

      @@fairrepair_en In the US this board is available on eBay, used, for a little over $300. I admire your skill and tenacity in fixing your board. I would just tell the customer it's time to order a board. That's definitely a laptop worth fixing.
