    Did you have to sand down anything? Or just burn and stain? And gloss

    • @mediocreman5103
      @mediocreman5103  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No sanding. I specifically used gloss that you don’t need to sand because I hate sanding.

    • @gingermoore7247
      @gingermoore7247 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mediocreman5103 so if you use a gloss after staining, you won't need to necessarily sand?

    • @mediocreman5103
      @mediocreman5103  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct. Use a non sanding gloss. Sanding will dim the burn marks. Also it’s subject to fading if it’s always in direct sunlight. So keep that in mind. I was slow to install blinds in my cabin and I regret that.

  • @davemcdaniel7446
    @davemcdaniel7446 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm using the same poly on my plywood but keep getting bubbles that dry. Looks terrible. How do you keep the bubbles out of yours?

    • @mediocreman5103
      @mediocreman5103  ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn’t get bubbles. Are you rolling it on? If so it might be too rough of a roller.

    • @davemcdaniel7446
      @davemcdaniel7446 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Looks great. What kind of plywood is that?

    • @mediocreman5103
      @mediocreman5103  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure. The sample board is 3/4 inch. The Cabin floor is much thicker but I don’t know what kind it is. I have experimented with bunch of samples they all react to the torch pretty much the same but you may need to go slower and burn more some of them if they are slow to pick up the grain striation.

      @craighardman8487 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mediocreman5103 I want to use plywood for wardrobe doors is this just cheap standard plywood?

    • @mediocreman5103
      @mediocreman5103  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Craig Hardman yes but on some plywood it’s different on each side so one side responds to the torch better than the other. The more grain the better the response.

    • @DrStephanieMillerWilliams
      @DrStephanieMillerWilliams ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you going to do a video on how you put the floor down?

    • @mediocreman5103
      @mediocreman5103  ปีที่แล้ว

      The floor ion theory is the plywood subfloor. This is a solution for when you don’t want to add a hardwood floor or carpet over the plywood.

      I wish I could see a picture. Any plywood works as long as it has graining. Perhaps You are holding the torch too close? Otherwise might be a overly synthetic top player. Buy small samples and test them to find the look you want
