I use grain alcohol. It is more natural and not as dangerous. Just like making tinctures, you should never use isopropyl alcohol. Never! It is a chemical and dangerous to ingest. What every you make to dilute with isopropyl alcohol, use grain alcohol instead, ie vodka. Works great !

Well, you just solved a mystery for me. I have a woven large laundry basket on my back porch. I have it lined with a black garbage bag that folds over the top. The mosquitos out there are relentless, flying around that basket. I moved it, thinking it was something else attracting them, but they followed the basket. It's not even wet, which further puzzled me. So now I can line it with a clear garbage bag, and I won't have mosquitos on my porch now, which fly in as I walk out the sliding back door. Thank you SO much. And I never thought about using alcohol. I do have a "flying insect" spray, but it smells like Raid and I hate that smell, and I hate poisons around the cats, so try to stay natural as much as I can. Quite the mass murder you have done there!

I’m amazed how effective this is!
I did something similar, but I mixed water and Dawn dish soap in a spray bottle, then would squirt the mosquitoes wherever they had congregated. Instant take down. My theory was that I hadn’t actually killed them, but I made them wet , and the dish soap made it more sticky, so obviously they can no longer fly with wet wings and bodies. With pets and children, I liked this idea better than pesticides. Using alcohol is the same idea, but maybe the smell keeps others away. I’d have to research that more.
I used water and soap as well, i saw that when the water dried, the mosquitoes got up and started flying again, it doesn't kill them like alcohol
Insects breathe through pores called spiracles on their abdomen segments.
Because of surface properties like setae "hair" water will not enter the spiracles, Soap reduces surface tension and allows water to enter and interfere with spiracles killing the mosquito.
70% Isopropyl Alcohol does the same thing allowing water to enter the spiracles.
This is what I think is happening.
I made a solution with Witch Hazel and essential oils that was supposed to keep mosquitoes off me, but it didn't work. So, I added a few ounces of alcohol to the solution, and sprayed them when they were buzzing me, and they dropped instantly. I keep the spray bottle in my garden area for when they bite.
I did the black bucket with soapy water and Spinosad, and it worked great! The problem is the mosquitoes visiting from neighbors' yards coming to visit me. Now I just spray the few that are close to me. I have to be careful spraying because right now my yard is full of bees and I don't want to get them, too!

Thank you . I have one mosquito that is in my condo and he bit me 8 plus times 2 nights ago while I was knocked out asleep. He also follows me to the shower as she likes moisture. I wore mosquito cream to bed and covered from head to toe to avoid her and got ultrasound wave. I. Afraid she is not dead and can't maintain wearing cloths and mosquito cream to bed. She was gone forever I thought but no months later she shows up again. She loves my blood. I will try this rubbing alcohol spray

Jacque, The alcohol spray is wonderful. Before I go out in the evening to work in the garden I spray it on myself and around me, the bugs and mosquitos stay away. It's amazing. Today, this morning I was working in the shade and these small flying insects kept biting me so I spray some alcohol on my arms and they left me alone. LOL!!!! Just make sure you don't have any open cuts or sores.

Yes, they hide in empty black buckets. I also have a video on using these black buckets with warm water, yeast, and soap to make the trap.

You'll only be spraying in one area. The bucket. Alcohol will not harm your pets or children. You're not spraying the alcohol all over the house. He States in another video you can use a black bucket filled with water and a little bit of oil set in the corner of your room to attract mosquitoes that way.

A soapy solution might be as effective as alcohol,and not flammable. Detergents are surfactants that reduce the surface tension of water. Bugs depend on surface tension to prevent being "drowned" when they get wet,as they breathe through pores on their body.

Online, "mosquito dunks" with natural bT which prevents larvae hatching. Said to be specific only to these. I've used and never see larvae in those buckets. Low price too, about 24 donut shapes on a card $27. After 1 month you drop in a new dunk

Sparton works great. Hang 4/acre. 80ft away from humans. I have one in my front yard and one in my backyard and has eliminated mosquitoes and flies. Not complaining. Change out every 30dys.

You can just put the sprayer on top of the alcohol bottle itself.
We found after we get bit it becomes very itchy. We found best way to calm the itching, (gently) wash the bite with body wash and a washcloth and rinse the soap off, then apply antibiotic ointment, last 24 hours

Alcohol smells dissipates in 20 minutes. I never rotate the bucket

Mosquitoes are annoying as hell, but they are also an important food source for a lot of birds. So try to use that spray mostly indoors or very close to the house. But thanks for the tip. Good to know there's an effective spray.

I tried it. Forgot to spray for two days. When I went in to check, I found a lizard in there! I think it feasts on the mosquito colony.

I have a neighbor who refuses to empty his wheelbarrow, a mosquito larva heaven. I was considering pouring some bleach between the fence into the wheelbarrow but sounds like ALOCHOL will work much better?
