As a new bass boat owner I love these videos. I didn't really have to make those decisions in a kayak as most boaters understand that they can freely move to a new location and I couldn't. So one other note to these encounters is the fact there are some boaters like me that may not do something maliciously, but are just ignorant of all the unwritten rules. Now I would never clearly cut someone off or anything and I always try to ask if it is okay to go this way or that, but I am not going to lie I have like a mini anxiety attack every time I am faced with a go under or over someone decision or especially pulling up somewhere with a lot of boats on the lake that day. Sometimes I will just leave to avoid the potential encounter. The way you handle these encounters is really impressive. Thankfully I have not had a bad encounter, but I know it's coming. It is inevitable and you have set a nice example of how to handle them. So be nice people! Some people just don't know or are new as well.
So nice when you come across the nice anglers and share some info and some quick laughs. That other guy must live his life miserable, definitely a unhappy person . Glad it didn't escalate any further than it did.
Awesome video. I don’t have a boat, but I do have a fishing kayak and can still apply what you’re teaching. The attitude you display out on the water, really shows what a great sportsman you are 👍🏻👍🏻.
Growing up in the 70s my uncle would take me out bass fishing , one thing I always noticed how friendly fellow boaters and fishermen were, always a wave, sportsmanship was utmost importance, not today , its crazy, I fish Lake Chickamauga about 10 times a year , I'm surprised now when I don't have a jerk cut us off or pull in front of us , people are just so selfish now
This is the right way to do it. Like driving a car, you don't cut someone off or crowd them or cast where someone else is headed. They can miss a huge fish, but you can get one in the same spot, it happens all the time This video needs to be watched by every fisherman out there!! I have resembled that remark….it’s hot, didn’t catch squat and spent a fair amount of money for nothing! Hey that’s fishing though, can’t wait to go out again!
Don’t come to MN if you don’t like being close to other boats while fishing. We don’t mind sharing the water here, In fact on countless occasions I’ve fished next to complete strangers that I could touch their boat with my rod. It’s just the way we do it up here.
@@toddcastledinefishing5924 definitely! you handled yourself well! I had my brother up here from Louisiana jigging for walleye He couldn’t believe how close folks fish to one another here. This video reminded me of that! Great video keep having fun out there!
I am from Minnesota also. No it is not the way we do it here. If you were to pull up that close to me there would be a problem. No reason to do that when you have the whole lake. If a lake is that busy, you have over 10,000 other lakes to go fish.
It's been a few years ago I was fishing down a bank catching fish on a wacky worm. I seen a couple of secondary points in the back end of that cove I was planning on fishing when this guy comes in from behind me trolls down the middle of the cove and gets right in front of me and fishes that point and heads toward the back a total cut off he knew I was going that direction. I turned the boat and went straight across the cove and fish the other bank going back out only to have him do the same thing to me again only this time we had words he invited me to the bank and I proceeded to go to bank but then he give up. I asked him are you fishing the tournament today and he said no are you and I said no would it have mattered and do you always make it a point of fishing in front of people. I explained the lake was 13 miles long plenty of water you don't have fish on top of people 🤷🏻♂️.
I was pre-fishing for kayak tournament yesterday, hitting the bank in a 5 acre pocket yesterday and a boat was in there, I stayed on my side and they stayed in the area they were in, opposite sides. I heard them talking about coming in behind me and fishing out and the boater just said nah, we'll bounce to a different spot, they idled out and were very cool. All the pleasure boaters I think wanted to see if they could flip me with their wake! Its so much easier and relaxing to just be polite and chill with each other. The guy like you ran into is just so much wasted energy. I probably would have asked him, so you're not having any luck getting bit huh? And left it at that after laughing at him. Lol.
@@toddcastledinefishing5924Yeah, I know what you mean. Great video, I'm glad you make them. I have learned quite a bit of interesting stuff from them (I was already a polite fisherman before the video to be fair 🤣)
they probably had caught fish there recently and didn't want anyone intruding on their plan. Most tournaments have an anchor rule. if a boat is anchored you can't be within 50 yards of it. they weren't anchored so it's fair fishing. I've casted behind other boats as they are talking to me. great place to arouse a bass. Friend caught a 5.5 smallmouth once doing that as we all stood and talked. we were all laughing! Cutting in front of someone ...not cool.
@@toddcastledinefishing5924sorry , I didn't mean you were cutting in front of them. I was talking about the guys that cut in front of you. Again It's all fair unless anchored. Not the politest thing to do but we are all at " battle " in a tournament. Psychological and skills. Thanks for the videos!
I've had guys see I was trolling down a bank and they would leap frog me and start fishing where I was headed....so I leap frogged them and started fishing. I wouldn't do that if they didn't do it to me 1st. I like how you guys have respect and consideration for other anglers....there is always water to fish, may not be the freshest water with no recent pressure, but that's when you have to throw something that nobody else is throwing.
Just subbed. I just bought my first used bass boat and would like to thank you! I was curious about passing etiquette and this really makes it cut and dry on what to do...use common sense and common courtesy and I should be fine. I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos. Thanks
Thank you for making this video for all the people that don't know this.you did it perfectly. It is just common sense. I fish this exact way. And hardly ever have any conformation..but you will always come across someone that thinks that they have all the rights to all the lake.
That is conditions of every tourney we fish here in Indiana. Most are great but a few are aggressively mean spirited. You had it right he is an unhappy soul. I feel pity for those that can’t understand how blessed they are to be able to go fishing and compete in these tournaments.
One of my dad's friends would do that crap every time he'd go out with us or we'd go out on his boat. This went on for years and the last I fished in his boat I was like 18, and he tried to jump on another guy's boat to start a fight because he thought the guy had cut us off (he didn't) so a screaming contest starts. I just sat down in the bottom of the boat and told him to take me to the ramp. I hate fishing with negative people. Never again.
i respect you guys more then the guys i deal with. i was sitting on a bed with a couple hogs one time with a rental with a crap anchor system and was trying for awhile. dudes on a nice boat hitting everywhere on lake they want basically still had to come and try to cast right on em. other day i was out early on banks hitting a cliffy area hooking up here and there. some old dude creeps his boat to shoreline and drives straight through where i been casting and catching and waves to me.. some people man. i usually dont say anything because i can easily take it to the next level and go crazy but i would rather just stay cool we are all fisherman. usually the only time i lose it is when i get spooled but i still blame that on myself that i should pay attention and reel in asap when i notice the people not paying attention. i just fish for fun. and i love dropshot and weightless i got a two pole license so ill throw out a texas rigged 6" senko far cast and then drop shot a few casts while the senko sinks to bottom. and ya i been spooled from doing that. but the way you guys pass is what i can respect. you give the dude his casting lane and distance and move on. compared to guys who see you catch move up on you and cant find their own fish. on the banks i deal with fisherman and wakeboarders always trying go close to shoreline and hit where im catching. its annoying. usually in the rental ill just leave the spot and turn on motor right there and rip that 10 hp motor as fast as can to hopefully blow the spot for guys trying catch smae fish i just released. cant really do anything about the wakeboarders i hate them the most when they have rookie and they fall in front of where im fishing and spend 20 minutes doing donuts trying get the rookie back up... hopefully with the new boater license they are introducing it will have a class on boating etiquette and how to respect other people on the water along with it.
Hey Mr c you are a true gentleman bro some people are just cranky and mad at world . A bunch of nonsense . You and your friend where so polite, courteous don't pay attention to people like that. Proper edicate awesome guys you guys handled that great 👍 God bless you and your family your pal fisherman Mike
Not really we do it all the time with other boats, and other boats do the same. We aren’t fishing where the boats are we are fishing the bank. Most boats understand this. He just wanted to be a …….
I like your wing man. He don’t take no shit. He has GOT YOUR BACK. My man. Fork is a Great Lake. But I quit fishing there in the early 2000’s for this reason. Looks like a damn crappie tournament. A boat on every stump. it’s Crazy. That being said, Hats off to TPWD for building a fishery that can sustain that much fishing pressure. Still put out monster bass. That is amazing.
To explain to people in the back that still don’t get it. Because there are still people who don’t I should have made it an hour loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo I’m tired of o’s ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo nope not that tired oooooooooooooooooooo ng 😂
Actually you kinda temporarily do. In tournaments for example you can't fish within x distance from another boat. Also there are laws (vary by state) to keep x distance from boats. Distance increases for non powered boats and especially sail boats. They have right of way since they rely on the wind. Yet I see time and time again people going full speed close to unpowered vessels. I've almost been hit by a boat who was not paying attention and didn't have his nav lights on wich is required by law.
Had a very similar situation fishing a THSBA tourny on Bridgeport (very small lake for 170 boats). Some people just think own an entire area and they probably get in an argument during EVERY tournament (hahahaha). Thanks for sharing your experience...
Awesome video and glad you make videos on this kinda stuff.. I don't have a boat and do all my fishing from my kayak and the people I run into on the water is just unbelievable! I've been on a stretch of good bank throwing jig's and some guys in boats will fish behind me and get right up on me and then go around me and start fishing 10-15ft in front of me going down the bank, it's just mind blowing how ppl do things sometimes... God bless you and your family, stay safe and healthy out there and only stick Biggin's 😉
Some dude threw a 10" worm at my old man while we idled by em over at Wolf (community point) during the Skeeter tourney one year. We figured they were just pissed cuz they weren't catching anything and were in a purple/yellow Skeeter lol. We'd cashed 3 checks by then so we were having a big time! hahaha!
I like when you do these videos because some people don't fish enough to understand the unwritten rules. You handled this situation correctly. I was taught to respect other fisherman but unfortunately some people don't care anymore. The difference between fishing now vs the 80's & 90's is you can smart off to anybody and still keep your teeth.
Years ago fishing a cove, I was in the cove first and a guy came in on the other side. He anchored and started fishing a pocket in the grass along the bank. When I went up that side of the cove, I stopped casting and went around him with at least 125' separation between us. With his woman onboard, dude starts screaming and cursing telling me I stole his spot and he was coming over to kick my a**. I just laughed at him and that angered him even more. He pulled his anchor and started toward my boat and got about 5' away, I just told him that stepping onto my boat was going to be a life altering decision for him. He seemed to decide that his balls were not as big as he thought they were. I have always been respectful toward other guys at the ramps and on the water, most fishermen are the same way. But of course, when you spend years on the water, most people will eventually run across an a**hole on the water, especially at the ramp.
Nice to see fisherman with common sense and Courtesy. I do this ever time I go fishing fun fishing or for money. I am not on the lake for confrontation. These days many have no etiquette.
I don’t know if I was old school taught but I’ve always had it in me to do it on my own, seems there’s been 2 types and it’s not generational. Those who want to learn on their own and others that want it showed to them. As you can tell I have respect for one of the 2
That behavior would get you in a pretty heated confrontation in my county. Especially the Dude-Bro overreacting like old women after the guy's already upset. Not sure how it is down south, or in a tournament setting, but way up north if you're moving within casting distance of someone else's casting distance you're provoking someone. The exception is when you're trying to talk to them. Otherwise, everyone is expected to keep their distance. Seems to be a very different situation down there on how everything is handled.
Not really we don’t fish in one spot all day most people move down the bank at a constant speed so you end up passing people. Kinda like a highway it’s not a big deal to pass people going down the the bank. Your not moving in on people your just passing people
@@toddcastledinefishing5924 I guess that's the concept I just don't understand. Does everyone down south bank fish? Up in the northern portion of the Midwest the schools of fish tend to orient themselves off of structure way farther out in the lake. Granted, you'll get saddles, points, etc, that are closer to shore, but it's not very often a decent fishing spot can be reached from or near the bank. I don't know if all the water down south is way too shallow for that fish behavior to kick in making the practice less effective or something, but it's interesting watching people move around a lake casting at the shore (which must work if people are doing it so often). People tend to operate with that knowledge up here, and getting close to them while they're at it is most often seen as being passive aggressive at a minimum. I assumed that's what was going on there (again, having no knowledge on what's culturally acceptable down there).
@@toddcastledinefishing5924 its equal both ways. I've fished in both. In a boat I've had yakers come up to me and ask if I got anything...🤦♂️ In a yak I've had boats move in close to me when the rest of the lake was open. I'm going to be rigging up a 2 oz weight dedicated rod for idiots that get too close. They will love that sound of it bouncing off the hull 😃
That’s my point if your’re gonna bring up a ticky tac rule where someone is on high moving around and makes a 10 foot cast just out of habit don’t get mad when you apply the rule the other way. That rule is there for people pulling up on people and fishing next to them. Not going around someone like everyone did all day and everyone was cordial. Nice try don’t be that guy that makes something out of nothing just like the guy in the video did. If you notice I was the guy in the video that acted grown up not the other guy that acted like an donkey in front of his kid.
Good fishing etiquette. The lakes are just getting more pressured every year, and there not building anymore. I have almost completely giving up on fishing on a weekend cause it's so bad. If it's this bad now what do you think it's gonna be like in 10-20 yrs?
I absolutely hate those type of situations because it only takes one asshole that doesn’t want you any place around him. It just takes one to get it going
What you're describing about watching how people are fishing is very important. Be mindful what depth/species is their target. Just a polite thing to do, we're all sharing the same water.
I meet this guy about three times a year at smithmountain lake va. This guy is just looking for a confrontation. You cant even argue he is so rediculous. I don't have the temperament for this crap so i shut it down pretty quick. Great topic for the world we live in.
You actually did make some casts pretty close to there area they could reach Just saying I always stay away within castles by distance of 360 degree and expect others to do the same Good rule to fish by to avoid this situations. Your trying to excuse your conduct on the way a boat is facing. That’s not always a tru tell on where two guys in boat are casting. Perhaps one guy was resting with work rod after covering all the area he could reach with spinner bait . I just believe the 360 rul should apply all the time. Best of luck
Try watching the video all the way through. We we’re watching from a far not one time rod they cast on the other side of the boat, there is nothing out there. He was moving down the bank as well in our direction he should have gone around us. If we had acted like him who is suppose to go around when you meet down the bank. Plus if we move like you said way around now we are getting in other peoples way that are off the bank throwing 360 degeees around their boat. We went where no one was casting.
Agreed unless you pass people down the bank. I really wish people knew the etiquette for this . It’s a common practice that happens everyday with no issue. It’s like a guy on a two lane road who moves over for a guy to move around him.
@@toddcastledinefishing5924 If you pass someone down the bank, you pass to the outside to keep out of casting distance. If both boats are moving towards each other, just go to the outside of the other boat, unless there is plenty of room on the inside so you are not within casting distance, in that case, it doesn't matter, outside or inside. This is not rocket science, just go around the boat outside of casting distance, common courtesy.
@@CAN43715 once again who should pass? I don't agree about you passing me to close. If I'm firing at the bank and I'm 100 feet away why should you have to pass me 100 feet outside of me. your not bothering me or the fish. Heck your trying to fish as well your going behind me and trying to get around why should I make it that hard on you. to me thats not courteous.
Very good video. If every bassboat I encounter on Arizona’s TINY lakes were handled like you guys handle yours, fishing would be even more enjoyable. Very classy. Your attention to how and where others are fishing is awesome, as is the communication between boater and backseater. I think I do a pretty good job myself, but you have shown me a higher level. Thx! 🙏🏻 One minor complaint: my 74 yo ears can’t hear much of your audio. Even with my iPad volume on max, I have to run for my Bose headphones.
I know and I understand, this video was an afterthought and I had to go back and get any footage I could. At the time non of this was planned or thought about being used. Only after did I deem it relevant. I will try harder next time to get better sound.
@@toddcastledinefishing5924 I was just gonna add that you guys went above and beyond to be curteous to other anglers....I dont see that very much anymore......and your partner cracks me up lmao
I’d say I disagree, what ruins fishing are a ton of other things. Tournament fishing actually brings light upon a lot of things. Most tournament guys are doing their best to preserve the fish and industry.
Glad I live in SE Virginia!!! We have the James/Chick Rivers, Northwest River, North Landing River, and the Chowan River in NE North Carolina along with some other rivers in close proximity, which allow you to fish the weekends and tournaments without being that jammed up. Not saying there arent close encounters, but they are waaaay less than what you showed. You could probably drop over a thousand Lake Forks in all the bodies of water I mentioned. By the way, you guys did the right thing and were very conscientious of the other anglers. That guy probably was just an a$$hat. What I usually do, is simply kill them with kindness...they can’t stand it!!! 👍😃🎣🎣🎣🎣
True, we knew this going into this event so we we’re prepared to be as nice to most guys. He never even tried to look at us before hand. We kinda saw it coming.
Things got so bad on the lake when I go to the lake and make sure I have my handgun it used to be all you had to worry about make sure your hands weren't too tired
Imagine this happening to us on yaks. This happened to me when I passed a guy that was at my spot and I went around him and fished behind him and he said, he don't appreciate me fishing behind him cause he don't feel safe.🤦♂️
Yeah man exactly this. Some fishermen are still catching up to the fact that we’re also boats and also fishing tournaments sometimes. Not to mention if you cut me off in a bass boat and I’m in my kayak, I can’t just pick up and blast down the lake 😂😂.
Sound like common fisherman courtesy. My problem is why that doesnt extend to all fishermen? I live in strong bass state on a professional bass water. Every weekend almost, I have to worry about getting waked by bass fisherman. Regular fisherman are mostly fine. Its just the ones that think being rude and disrespectful makes them professional. You have to wonder how bass fishermen got that stereotype? Every weekend I find out why
This is just me but even though it’s crowded I would have given way more room or even found another spot. He was there first I get it. I can see both sides.
We were not fishing his spot we were going down the bank if you watched the rest of the video we passed 10 boats and they passed us. Its literally what everyone does when you fish down the bank. Its been going on like that for 50 years. Its not a spot.
@@toddcastledinefishing5924 I watched the whole video. I see guys like y’all all the time you think you’re so smart watching where we cast man give leeway. We were there first sorry.
@@cbl0325 buddy i dont think you understand how tournament fishing works. for the hardcore fisherman out there every weekend going out to compete its all about winning not fun. its a competitive sport. if you have that mentality winning wont come easy. i also could possibly see both sides but you cant be upset that someone else is fishing where you are unless you get cutoff. be open minded it will help in the long run
You still think people we’re fishing spots they weren’t they were moving around also. No one is casting in 8 foot of water for 8 hours on the same stump. People were moving around people constantly. It’s a small lake with one of the biggest tournaments of the year. If you watched the whole video then you heard us no cut people off as well when we DROVE up on people. I guess we’ll just not mention that. Have you watched the next video of the actual event where we are not by anyone for most of the day.
I love how you have videos like this between you Hallman, Andrew and most of the other pro’s be handling a situation like this with professionalism, there should be rules in place before and after every tournament, we also need more professionals like you, appreciate the content
Years ago I was fishing a point that was created by the bend in the large creek (dog leg) it is called and a two guys in an alluminum boat just had to drive between me and the bank as they were headed to the back of the creek, even though a wider part of the creek was behind me and it also has less stumps in that part. They also had what appeared to be a young boy probably 10-12 years old sitting in a pedistal chair on the front of the boat as they were cruising along in a very stumpy area of the creek. If they would have hit a stump, the kid would have gone flying off the front of the boat and into the water, and possibly run over by the idiot driving the boat. Lots of stupid people out there, and especially now, people seem to be getting more stupid all the time.
I always watch out I fish Harris chain Kissimmee central fla , there’s always people out most are cool I will wave them on and stop fishing or we agree to fish around left or right . But lately I have been running into real idiot I find a spot of bluegill beds I have this older guy 2 times roll up from 1 mile away and fish within 40 ft of me crazy I Ccc loud cast over his head if I wanted to had a few more just like him lately as well some just don’t care about ruining someone’s good time !!!
If I showed you it now you’d understand why, I had some guys cut down my 70 year old pine tree that got struck by lighting. I was leaving as much protection as possible so it didn’t tear up everything
Never seen worse manners on the water than I have in Florida, but in all honesty it happens everywhere, guess I'm just old school and stay away from other boats that are fishing
Aww hell I've had them plane out across the lake & let off 100-200 yards in front of me "T-boning" my route. Lol then follow my route 75 yards behind me with radio WIDE open.. Tell me that won't piss ya off
It's a tough call you did go around him I think it's because you were casting at the same time if you didn't cast and just hurried up and went around him I don't think there be an argument I think it's because you with casting at the same time cuz usually I will go around people that I run into or whatever then I will just put my motor on high get around them and then I start fishing just made my opinion that's all
Best thing you can do in situations like this is to just ignore people if you know your in the right. There are some crazy stupid people on these lakes now-adays who don't understand basic fishing edicate. Im just as guilty of making situations like this worse, but its best just to stay calm and concentrate on fishing.
We met going down the bank someone has to go around and we did we let him have the inside, is it me or do some people not really understand what's going on here. Its not like he was fishing a spot in all my years I've never had an interaction within some when this happens. This could literally happen 10 times a day if you fish down a bank you meet people fishing the opposite direction someone usually goes to the outside someone usually goes to the inside. Its really quite simple.
@@toddcastledinefishing5924 I totally get that but either way if you can just toss a water bottle into the boat you're passing with a lob, you're too close... and just because you didn't see anyone make a cast on that side of the boat doesn't mean they weren't about to you know? Two, one of y'all decides to be nice and go around the other guy giving him the good water. Or 3 stare at each and cast to the same 2 foot of unproductive water over and over again.
Lol.
Yea we already knew he was pissed you can just tell with guys before you even encounter them
@@toddcastledinefishing5924Yeah, I know what you mean. Great video, I'm glad you make them. I have learned quite a bit of interesting stuff from them (I was already a polite fisherman before the video to be fair 🤣)
That's what will cause lakes to start using directional arrows so everyone goes the same way
😂
Sounds like a rat race from hell
they probably had caught fish there recently and didn't want anyone intruding on their plan.
Go watch my other video on this it will explain more. What your explaining is not even close to what happened
People like that just suck all the fun out of it.
Yep
I've been bobber fishing my whole life, golden shiners. As long as you don't cross my lines fish anywhere you want
Exactly
Just subbed. I just bought my first used bass boat and would like to thank you! I was curious about passing etiquette and this really makes it cut and dry on what to do...use common sense and common courtesy and I should be fine. I'm looking forward to watching more of your videos. Thanks
Heck yea man glad I could help and good luck
Thank you for making this video for all the people that don't know this.you did it perfectly. It is just common sense. I fish this exact way. And hardly ever have any conformation..but you will always come across someone that thinks that they have all the rights to all the lake.
That is conditions of every tourney we fish here in Indiana. Most are great but a few are aggressively mean spirited. You had it right he is an unhappy soul. I feel pity for those that can’t understand how blessed they are to be able to go fishing and compete in these tournaments.
👍
One of my dad's friends would do that crap every time he'd go out with us or we'd go out on his boat. This went on for years and the last I fished in his boat I was like 18, and he tried to jump on another guy's boat to start a fight because he thought the guy had cut us off (he didn't) so a screaming contest starts. I just sat down in the bottom of the boat and told him to take me to the ramp. I hate fishing with negative people. Never again.
You got to close and casting toward him
You mean he got to close
i respect you guys more then the guys i deal with. i was sitting on a bed with a couple hogs one time with a rental with a crap anchor system and was trying for awhile. dudes on a nice boat hitting everywhere on lake they want basically still had to come and try to cast right on em. other day i was out early on banks hitting a cliffy area hooking up here and there. some old dude creeps his boat to shoreline and drives straight through where i been casting and catching and waves to me.. some people man. i usually dont say anything because i can easily take it to the next level and go crazy but i would rather just stay cool we are all fisherman. usually the only time i lose it is when i get spooled but i still blame that on myself that i should pay attention and reel in asap when i notice the people not paying attention. i just fish for fun. and i love dropshot and weightless i got a two pole license so ill throw out a texas rigged 6" senko far cast and then drop shot a few casts while the senko sinks to bottom. and ya i been spooled from doing that. but the way you guys pass is what i can respect. you give the dude his casting lane and distance and move on. compared to guys who see you catch move up on you and cant find their own fish. on the banks i deal with fisherman and wakeboarders always trying go close to shoreline and hit where im catching. its annoying. usually in the rental ill just leave the spot and turn on motor right there and rip that 10 hp motor as fast as can to hopefully blow the spot for guys trying catch smae fish i just released. cant really do anything about the wakeboarders i hate them the most when they have rookie and they fall in front of where im fishing and spend 20 minutes doing donuts trying get the rookie back up... hopefully with the new boater license they are introducing it will have a class on boating etiquette and how to respect other people on the water along with it.
I love people like that bc arguments can be fun 🤣.
I know right. LOL Im just not suppose to say that out loud.
Great topic to cover people need more information on basic fishing etiquette thank you.

So when you go “around” someone you have to give a wide birth. I like to make it no less than 50 yards. You can’t go 20 feet and call it going around.
Not really we do it all the time with other boats, and other boats do the same. We aren’t fishing where the boats are we are fishing the bank. Most boats understand this. He just wanted to be a …….
It's nice seeing real encounters you have on a "trophy" lake. Good stuff man. I like the play by play commentary haha.

I know it’s pretty amazing what they’ve done
WHHHHYYYYYYYYYYYYY was this video 30 minutes looooooooong?!!!!
Some people think they own a certain radius around the boat they're sitting in, you did the right thing.
I've almost been hit by a boat who was not paying attention and didn't have his nav lights on wich is required by law.
you would be mad if someone casted at your boat and water splashed in the boat wile you have your power poles down?
Great topic and it shows you have class. Keep up the good work out there and keep educating people.
You bet
Always that one boat that owns the lake so to say but y’all did the right thing in my opinion
Every time I fish fork there’s always too many boats and usually one person who thinks they own the lake.
Had a very similar situation fishing a THSBA tourny on Bridgeport (very small lake for 170 boats). Some people just think own an entire area and they probably get in an argument during EVERY tournament (hahahaha). Thanks for sharing your experience...
Lmao he was probably skunkin.
Guaranteed
Lesson learned! NEVER fish a tournament, fish for food. Thank you.
Tournaments are great and fun. If you notice it didn’t not ruin our day one bit, the next video showed how much fun we had.
Good luck as well, hopefully those guys just stink at fishing and don't catch much. LOL
@@toddcastledinefishing5924 👍😁
You were nicer than me.
Not nicer just used to it, kinda wish I wasn't though
Some dude threw a 10" worm at my old man while we idled by em over at Wolf (community point) during the Skeeter tourney one year. We figured they were just pissed cuz they weren't catching anything and were in a purple/yellow Skeeter lol. We'd cashed 3 checks by then so we were having a big time! hahaha!
That’s funny
I like when you do these videos because some people don't fish enough to understand the unwritten rules. You handled this situation correctly. I was taught to respect other fisherman but unfortunately some people don't care anymore. The difference between fishing now vs the 80's & 90's is you can smart off to anybody and still keep your teeth.
True
Yea everything you just said no matter what hat happens you run into “those” guys. Usually a lot of talk and I’ve never met one that could fish.😂😂
Nice to see fisherman with common sense and Courtesy. I do this ever time I go fishing fun fishing or for money. I am not on the lake for confrontation. These days many have no etiquette.
Agreed, but it was only one guy all the rest were great so there’s still hope.
@@toddcastledinefishing5924 For sure, I always meet more good than bad. I like your style, you are old school taught, I can tell.
You have good patience man. Life's too short for the b.s. Thanks for sharing the video.
You bet
There is ALWAYS that one guy......................... And it's worse for us Kayak anglers.
I keep hearing that from you guys. It must be bad
@@toddcastledinefishing5924 its equal both ways. I've fished in both. In a boat I've had yakers come up to me and ask if I got anything...🤦♂️
In a yak I've had boats move in close to me when the rest of the lake was open.
I'm going to be rigging up a 2 oz weight dedicated rod for idiots that get too close. They will love that sound of it bouncing off the hull 😃
Skeeter Owners Tournament rule states, "No fishing within 75' of a contestants boat or 150' of an anchored contestants boat."
So I guess we both were wrong cause he was casting when I went by him
@@toddcastledinefishing5924 Your buddy did the right thing and stopped fishing as you went by.
Yea but the other boat kept fishing
@@toddcastledinefishing5924 Gosh, grow up
That’s my point if your’re gonna bring up a ticky tac rule where someone is on high moving around and makes a 10 foot cast just out of habit don’t get mad when you apply the rule the other way.
Lol! There's AHoles on the Golf Course too😂 Yelling 100 yds. down the fairway😂😂

Good fishing etiquette. The lakes are just getting more pressured every year, and there not building anymore. I have almost completely giving up on fishing on a weekend cause it's so bad. If it's this bad now what do you think it's gonna be like in 10-20 yrs?
Lake fork can make people bitchy, especially in a hourly BBT. 🤣
Yea it can
I absolutely hate those type of situations because it only takes one asshole that doesn’t want you any place around him. It just takes one to get it going
Why is there double audio at about the 3 min mark?
I don’t edit for a living
Easy fix. Bank it bust heads. Then get back in boat. And continue the video. RIPSUMLIPZ
You was 💯% text book in fishing ethics toward that boat. Did nothing wrong. You rock man. My new channel. RIPSUMLIPZ
Thanks
Follow the marker buoys lol.
Yea there were a bunch and not in line
man you done casted up at me man
I like how he had to turn around and said I was casting there

If you can cast into another boat, you are too close.
Agreed unless you pass people down the bank. I really wish people knew the etiquette for this . It’s a common practice that happens everyday with no issue. It’s like a guy on a two lane road who moves over for a guy to move around him.
@@toddcastledinefishing5924 You can pass down the bank outside of casting distance. Its not a two lane road, it is a lake with lots of room.
So who should have passed?

This doesn’t look enjoyable at all and I think tournaments are ruining bass fishing.
th-cam.com/video/QR4BEWYFb28/w-d-xo.html
I’d say I disagree, what ruins fishing are a ton of other things. Tournament fishing actually brings light upon a lot of things. Most tournament guys are doing their best to preserve the fish and industry.
Keep a couple big rocks in your boat start tossing them in the water around him😂
please post location where incidents like this happen
Its like dancing on a crowded floor... You have to pay attention to others and anticipate their speed and direction...
Perfect analogy I love it
Glad I live in SE Virginia!!!
You should write the rulebook!
Hell yeah bro!
I’ve literally had a guy in a bas boat get pissy at me asking me to back off, while I’m passing him 40 yards away….in my kayak.
It’s crazy your just passing by some guys have no clue
This is just me but even though it’s crowded I would have given way more room or even found another spot. He was there first I get it. I can see both sides.

He was and you were fine but probably did egg it on the last 3-4 comments. Appreciate the videos and all of the work you do.
I just don’t like be called out for doing things properly, people these days shouldn’t be allowed to act a certain way with no consequences.
Nice video - you need to mow that back yard
If I showed you it now you’d understand why, I had some guys cut down my 70 year old pine tree that got struck by lighting. I was leaving as much protection as possible so it didn’t tear up everything

Never seen worse manners on the water than I have in Florida, but in all honesty it happens everywhere, guess I'm just old school and stay away from other boats that are fishing
I do too, but these events are hard when they are this big
Aww hell I've had them plane out across the lake & let off 100-200 yards in front of me "T-boning" my route. Lol then follow my route 75 yards behind me with radio WIDE open.. Tell me that won't piss ya off
HA HA that might. LOL
I think we did, it’s why we kept moving and kept fishing, we caught almost all our fish after this. These things never rattle us
Also your camera makes it look a lot farther away. You are casting even when you say Im not really casting.
th-cam.com/video/vlCNlfukYD0/w-d-xo.html
Ehh... I gotta say, if you're within a cast length, especially a short cast, you're too close
I do it all the time. If I'm not getting bit on the bank, I'll turn around and fish a few cast behind me just to make sure they haven't pulled back a little deeper
@@toddcastledinefishing5924 I'm just saying I think you could've given a little bigger space cushion without making a cast that someone in that boat could've made
So my question is still the same if I'm going down the bank, and your going down the bank and we meet in the middle what do you do. 3 options turn around and go the other way back over water you've already fished. Two, one of y'all decides to be nice and go around the other guy giving him the good water. Or 3 stare at each and cast to the same 2 foot of unproductive water over and over again. If you read the comments 99% of people do what I did its pretty standard practice.
@@toddcastledinefishing5924 oh no doubt you gave up the water and went around. I'm just saying I think you could've given the other boat a little more space while doing so that's all.

I have non-fisherman going between me and shore frequently. I catch a fish almost every time in their prop wash.
That’s crazy
