Bottom ball joint on Falcon can be checked using a screwdriver prying between the lower arm and the knuckle. Even with full sag no need to jack up the arm.
I used to do lower ball joints in car, no need to remove the lower arm.
Pull the boot off and belt the body of the joint with a big hammer.
You can then reinstall the new one with a big socket and a hammer or one of those ball joint big G clamps.
I did once shoot a lower ball joint out when belting it and it smashed into my foot. Right behind the steel cap in my boot. Jumping around and yelling followed.
Can you tell I did my time at a Ford dealership in the BA-FG era? 🤣

4:48 Same with the rear spericals, the lower ones need the LCA loaded in the air with a jack (on the ground ), then you put a big lever under the wheel to check for vertical movement. The top ones you just push in at the top of the wheel when the susp is fully drooped.

The shorter engagement with threadlocker will give you a considerably stronger joint than the longer engagement with out threadlocker 👍 I'd suggest LOCTITE 270 and yes, Benny will be able to get that undone again if needed (you'll have to put some effort in though)

I’ve had to replace the lower ball joints several times in my old ba. Serve me right for buying cheep. I got an in car press kit for the falcon for the exact reasons you had issues getting the arm out. Still have it if you wanted it.

I changed steering rod ends on an E46 and it had no locking mechanism...being used to seeing lock tabs on other cars, it didn't give me much confidence...so I tightened it and drove the car anyway...as you do. I'll remember the locktite trick one day when I decide to take them off again...or they fall off, whichever comes first.

VT Commodore rack ends use a sheer thread that strips as you tighten it into the rack, meaning it can’t back itself out without great effort.

You can do those ball joints in the car by using your blue stand. Put it under the arm and smash the top of the threads to get it on out. Then to put it in put the stand under the ball joint and smash the arm. Works with a jack on the ground to

in regards to keeping the stock power steering pump alive, apparently Luke fink swears by under drive pulley kits as that's what he's done with his falcon in japan. personally, I'm not too sure how effective they are as I've never used one before, I'm still using the stock setup. Keep up the good work though 👍

But i would prefer eletro-hydraulic pump swap (with bigger ampere alternator)
This will free up belt drive losses (although alternator will take up abit more)...
Atleast when belt is gone mid drift, the eps will still work on battery power..ensuring safe way to control the car to stop..
